Could be worse, Nintendo's new subscription service for the Switch's online functionality only gives the player one old NES or SNES game per month, and at the end of the month, you lose it. That's right, even if you're still a paying member, you only get to loan one 30 odd year old game per month, for just that month. At least with PS+ you get 2 - 4 free games per month, and can keep them for as long as you're a member. I've gotten tons of cool little indie games, as well as a bunch of actually decent full price releases, all for free in the year I've been a PS+ member. Sure, I've gotten a ton of crap indie games too, but the amount of properly fun games I've gotten out of it has easily paid for what the subscription cost me. That's not to mention the ridiculous amount of games I've bought that were heavily discounted thanks to my membership.
PS+, in my opinion, is a really good value for money service. The free PSN service we had on PS3 was nowhere near as good. Besides, the cost hasn't affected me so far. At my age, when your parents ask what you want for Christmas, you genuinely have no idea, and usually say "socks and undies". The last two Christmases I've gotten them to buy the PS+ subscription. So it's still a free service to me lol.
