Sometimes if I restart my race in single player, the wheel will become very heavy. It usually goes away if I restart again. This is not a new bug though, I’ve experienced the same thing in the old AC game with the same wheel (G29).

Anybody else get this?
Yes in ac but rarely.

I'm not sure, sorry. Will keep my eye open for other such things but I'm thinking it's just the race results screen that might be messed up a bit
I'm guessing some cars just stayed out when it rained and then just did their normal single pitstop

The second time I ran the race the AI all pitted for wets behind me at the end of lap 1.
This also caused the mother of all frame stutters as I went through turns 1 & 2. Must've been 5fps. Abysmal.

I’m not quite sure what to make of the weather in this yet. Set it to 100% dry or wet and things are usually ok. But use the dynamic weather and I’m finding it quite difficult to know when to use which tyre.

For example, Monza, wet race, but only medium rain. The track was wet, puddles everywhere, no dry line. I go out on wets and am squirming everywhere and there is simply no grip. Yet the AI are having no issues whatsoever and are doing laps 4-5 seconds quicker than me. Just for a laugh, I swap to dry tyres. Hey presto, I’m doing the lap times the AI are doing. With the game screaming at me that wet tyres are optimum right now...

The crossover doesn’t seem all that right at the moment and it’s making it difficult to enjoy using the dynamic weather in races.

Anyone having problems after the update on PS4 as my Pro is taking twice as long to load the game and tracks, then on top of that i have massive 1 second pauses while playing, its a joke. Im gonna have to turn off clear cache and maybe rebuild database to see if it fixes the problem..

Forget all that as my ps4 was downloading and installing an update for anothe game, and all is well again

Awesome, thanks fellas!

Just one further thing, there is a setting where you can set unlimited or limited tyres. This is where the tyre number comes into play. If you choose limited tyres you only have certain number of dry tyre sets per race weekend. I can't remember the number but you can use set 1 for practice 1& 2, a fresh pair (set 2) for quali 1 another fresh pair (3) for quali 2 and the others (4,5,6 etc) for the race and pitting. Obviously this is irrelevant for unlimited sets.

This only applies to dry's, in either setting there are always unlimited sets of wet weather tyres.

Great for immersion if using limited tyres on race weekends.

Word of warning though, when pitting for set up changes in practice, always reset your tyre number you were previously using if they're still good (Back to one etc) because if you don't the set up will always fit the next tyre number and you'll start to use a new set when you maybe didn't want to.

Aris does a great set of 7 videos on you tube showing 7 stages to set up a car and really goes into detail on tyres and sets.

What I want to know though, is how on earth do you love that track? You must have phenomenal reflexes and a very good sense for Sim racing because I find that track to be the devils highway.

:D I didn't say I was any good at it. I love the section from the tight second hairpin up over the hill and then fast right down hill followed by the 3rd gear right that opens into a wide section. It's real seat of your pants stuff.

Is there anywhere that I could get a sense of people's lap times around a track?

I thought I was getting pretty good at Zolder, then I entered a multyplayer race there and got torched by someone. Felt like they were at least a second quicker around there. I'll probably need to look at lap guides more.

You can try and check a couple of Special Events. That should give you some sense of where you stand.

I stopped keeping track of lap times ever since GT4, I think. I found that it really helps with the frustration.

I was happy to be hitting 1:51:xxx but then I saw some bloke do it in 1:56:5 on YouTube. That is absolute insanity!

Something you said previously made me want to revisit this track. I had initially decided that I would never go back there again.

So, I went back to the track last night without worrying about medals. I'm guessing I did somewhere between 20 and 25 laps because I did 3 short races. I started to remember upcoming turns and tricky spots on the track that previously surprised me and ruined me. I never did achieved three medals but I do like the track much more now.

Yeah I stopped trying to squeeze every tenth of a second many, many years ago and many games ago. I try to tailor a game to fit my pace and not the other way around.
I try that too but whenever my eye catches that little green split time box turning red I start pushing again. Not always a sensible thing to do I might add.

Got the game yesterday. Was put off at first with reading some negative views but can't get enough of it so far.
Only done some practice sessions and first race at Monza in a custom championship and bloody love it.

The sound, driving / racing is fantastic.

Had the AI on 92 & Aggression on 90 and it's a good challenge for me. Nice to see realistic field spread on 1 hour race and you really need to settle down and find a rhythm. AI appear good so far, had some lovely battles

I do understand the criticism for the frame rate but I think once you are racing you tend to dial in and it doesn't bother me.

Looking forward to trying online racing with some clean racers!

What times are you doing mate? I only had a quick race around there and was doing 1.33's but that was in & amongst cars.

Yes. I love that part of Zandvoorth in ac, bumpy too, and at the peak elevation to try not lose it and still push as much as can.

I got to play it for some time on the G29 today.. Not a fan. They need to do a lot of work to get that wheel working right. It's very far away from how the wheel gives feedback in the original ACC and other... well any other game. Also I was using the wheel on a PS4 pro and as the video above proves.. The game is a lot better on the regular PS4 I use here at home. (compared to the pro)

Is there any way to preselect your drivers for pistops and also set repairs to NO?

I lose too much concentration trying to set these things whilst on track

So happy DF picked this up and covers everything perfectly. I’ve said all along it’s the frame pacing and base PS4 outperforms Pro which is unacceptable. No doubt it’s a fantastic title and I absolutely love it but does need a patch. Great video though. Very interesting.
Indeed.

I used to call it "stuttering", but I now understand there's a proper technical term to describe it. And it makes perfect sense.

I just hope they acknowledge the issue and solve it.

There’s a ton of potential here, but until they fix the frame rate I’m shelving this game. I never tried the original AC, but maybe I’ll pick that up for cheap.
In my opinion, the visuals are better in AC on console, but the driving physics are way better in ACC on console. Can't compare the two as far as car list. Totally different purposes. If you do get AC, I guess you'll see(feel) straightaway.

With base PS4 showing over 40fps at times you’d expect that 60fps should be no problem for next gen.

At the same resolution and graphical settings as a standard ps4 is running the Pro should absolutely be able to hit 60 frames. It's a much much faster machine. I totally think they should do the right thing and go that route for the pro users. Rather than giving draw distance and resolution.. which no one cares about or looks at.

i know it'll never happen and i don't know what it would require behind the scenes but for me i would like the option to remove certain graphical items to give a smoother framerate. Like the dynamic shadows which apparently are quite processor heavy. They are nice but it's not a priority over stable graphics for me.

Also i don't need moving flags and individual leaves on trees etc in the background, when I'm in the zone racing i pretty much ignore all that stuff so again options on that would be useful to me
