It feels kinda... boring? I have the feeling that these cars have no souls, just lots and lots of hp and technologies
Have you driven the RSR yet? It has sufficient hp, scary brakes, likes to slide, sounds good. Absolutely the opposite of boring.

Then again, I can't understand how anyone could class the 918 as boring, let alone the insane 917!

Great shot from Virginia house:

Hey Brandon! Have you had a chance to drive any of the Porsche's? Maybe I missed your posts? I was super sleep deprived yesterday. :D

Yep, the RSR and the Clubsport (check the video thread for my RSR video), both are shockingly brilliant. I figured they'd be good but I was a bit blown away at how much I enjoyed both of them. Plan to hoon around in some others this evening and I'm going to set my server up for the Clubsport so we can all have a place to get some Porsche racing on (it will be running 24/7 except for a few hours on Friday nights). 👍

I know what you mean, but give it a chance, i felt roughly the same by a lot of the cars in the pack but before i knew it i was putting down hundereds of laps on them despite the dreaded understeer and electronic interference

The Panamera feels suspiciously good in the handling department, especially for such a damn heavy car. Can toss it around like a Miata or Elise SC. Yet the M4 is a twitchy, understeery handful. Same with cars such as the P1, but then the LaFerrari is much more stable. My point is, I like to think there is a slight bias as to what cars are programmed to handle "good". I haven't tried the rest of the pack yet, but I suspect the rest will handle surprisingly good, even compared to similar cars.

Granted, I'm playing with a controller, so my experiences are skewed by that a little. A wheel would smooth things out for me, make more cars more "accessible" to me.

Personally P1 feels the best of the 3 "Hypercar Trinity"...The 918 is probably the most difficult to drive, you feel its weight and it feels unbalanced with the ability it can build speed.

I think it's the other way around actually. In all the video reviews i've seen they were pleasantly surprised about the handling of the Panamera, saying you almost didn't notice you were driving a tank so to speak. Posted one of Vicky Butler Henderson here somewhere, were she has no trouble getting the back end loose.

In racing games that wouldn't make an effort to truly reproduce a cars characteristics, it would indeed be portrayed as a heavy understeering pig most of the time only because its a heavy car. But like you say controller is also a factor here as it won't feel the same as with a wheel.

Here's another short review, Aussie accent included:

Haven't watched it yet, but the headline "Sim-Racers Will Love This Car" is just full of truth. Flippin' brilliant car.
Oh ok... Yeah. That car is awesome. To be honest, I thought it would be a little bit more powerful, but that's totally fine with me. I think it's so fun to drive. You can really hammer it and it'll take everything you've got.

Assetto Corsa fanboy. :D

I must admit I love watching the particle effects when somebody drives off track in this game as they bury themself into a huge cloud of dust then the car appears. Really love that effect as you see a mound of dust far in the distance. Feels like a real sunny track day to the public.

Ironically, the first Porsche pack is the one I'm looking forward to most. Some nice 70's classics mixed in with the modern cars like the 991 Carrera S, Cayman GT4 Clubsport and 918 Spyder. Looking forward to trying out that Can-Am Killer the most. Very pleased when I saw they had added the 917/30.

Yeah its great and i dont even mind having this PTSD because of it.

I get what you're saying, but having driven both of those cars on track (although the Panamera I drove was a '14 model) I can say that's pretty accurate. The Panamera Turbo is brutally quick and very composed on track. It has good grip and it's easy to drive fast (especially with the hypercar tires they gave it in this game).

The M4 is the only M car I've driven that I didn't love. The twitchy behavior is accurate and indeed very annoying when you're just trying to go fast and have fun without worrying so much about spinning off track. The car I drove had Michelin Pilot Super Sports (or something similar) so it definitely wasn't a problem with those. It's just an odd car at the limit and I hate it, especially that horrible electric power steering.

TL;DR, Panamera is great to drive and the M4 is a PITA in real life. That's one thing Assetto Corsa gets very right 👍

My brother owns a BMW M4 and he's done a few little performance upgrades to it. You're exactly spot on with my experience driving the M4 in real life. I scared the crap out of myself a few times when I would get the car sideways in 3rd gear not even trying to! Just getting on it hard, expecting those Super Sports to dig into the pavement. Funny that the digital version is exactly the same way in sims. It's a very powerful car -- BMW completely under-rated the engine's power output. I've not driven an E92 M3 in real life, but I enjoy driving the E92 M3 much more in Assetto Corsa. Maybe you just need to be a much better drive than I am...I know the M4 could blow it away - but I would probably die trying to do so.

I'm really not a fan of the M4's engine, it just delivers too much torque to quickly. You could balance the E92 M3 on the throttle or use the torque curve to get a nice clean exit. The M4 just has too much torque and it just comes in one go so you can't use it to get a nice clean exit.
