for anyone thinking of upgrading to Pico Neo3 Link to get better experience in AC then with a Quest2 and Link cable : don't do it, stick w the Quest2 it is better!

I bought one, played w settings a couple of days, even ordered the VR Optician lenses for it, as I had them in the Q2, but ... it's a total nightmare and I have to put the Pico aside and re-attach my Quest2 to be able to enjoy AC again.

Here some of the issues:
1) I have this weird visual discomfort with the Pico Neo 3 (I have IPD of 64, the PICO has closest 63.5 setting... but still it can't be that alone... When I move my head up and down everything in peripheral vision gets distorted... and not just when DP is active , also already in the standalone UI, so it's not the known driver distortion issue for which there is this beta driver that is supposed to improve it - I couldn't notice any improvement.
2) the DP link connection should take less of my GPU and CPU , but in fact with same settings in AC I am no longer able to get steady 72fps - which I did get in Oculus render mode. I just cant get near the visual quality and comfort as i got to do with the Q2...
3) the NEO 3 Link is supposed to be able to charge while playing, if you hook an extra power adapter to the DP cable, it should be possible to play and stay on 100%. It doesn't, and I could only play without the adapter connected, and had to recharge after about 2 hours. The DP connection is severed and unable to connect when power adapter is plugged in!
I sent a mail to Pico asking about this, they replied in chinese saying they will have local support contact me , but that was a week ago and still nothing... so also do not go the Pico road if you like good after-market service.

It's a shame and 450 euro down the drain...
I'm gonna try and return this thing and wait for a Quest3 or something...
For the G2 I'm afraid also I'll need to set rendering to OpenVR in Assetto, and go via SteamVR... which I feel is way worse then the rendering via Oculus Rift mode...
Or does it work without steamvr for the G2? (then I might consider giving that one a go)
always just go tried and tested!

return that thing as you have consumer rights. even if you get a few euro less for shipping it back.

yes g2 works via openxr to bypass steam. all in my guide above. openxr works wonders

Second vote for the Reverb G2 here, it’s gotta be the best headset under $1k for simulators. And yes OpenXR allows you to use VR in AC just through WMR, no need for SteamVR and it works amazingly well for me.

Crystal clear visuals (I can actually read those absurdly small Android auto screens in VR) with a consistent 75-80fps is pretty incredible once you’ve tried it.

Just for balance, my Pico Neo link 3 has exceptional quality image(IMO), without the periphal distortion you mention.

I have an external 12v supply plugged into the DP cable and have never been below 100% charge. It is important to get the correctly rated output wattage though.

You maybe have a duffer. In which case you should be able to obtain an exchange/refund.

I tried the openxr as per your guide , but I get this error message , and then race cancelled...

Hi, I am using HP Reverb G2. Recently after updating pure and sol and csp, I cannot see the side mirrors through my right eye lens, but the left eye lens works. Can anyone give me some pointers on how to fix this? Its quite bothering during a race. Thanks!

This is a current CSP bug. Try disabling 'high quality mirrors' in CM/Settings/Assetto Corsa/Video in the meantime.

Oh Wow Masscot, thanks so much for the info! It solved the problem. I just realised that this mirror problem happens when I'm using 4k resolution and disabling "high quality" solves the problem. This has been bothering for such a long time, thanks again for your help!

Meanwhile, I also get flickering on VR, can I ask for another advice from you guys on how to fix this? Thanks a million!

Glad it helped! It was something Ilja advised me to do as a workaround many months ago during troubleshooting, so it's a little disappointing that it's not been properly fixed yet, or a note adding to the UI so that everyone knows about it.

Note, you can still disable high quality mirrors with the tick box, then go into CSP mirror settings and reset (or increase) the draw distance without breaking the mirrors again.

Is it possible to easy show Content Manager directly within HP Reverb G2 without starting Virtual Desktop before?

Actually i need to select my car and click drive, then i can pull on the HP Reverb G2 and wait till i can drive in VR.
When exiting the Drive, i have to pull off HP Reverb G2 to manage my next drive in Content Manager.

I only know Virtual Desktop to see Content Manager in VR without pulling off the VR Device.

Does openXR improve this too, to get rid with Virtual Desktop?

Hi Everyone, I am using the HP reverb G2 and I get slight tilting or rotation while I'm driving in AC. After half a lap or so, it suddenly returns back to normal. This is seriously causing some sickness for me. Anyone can give me some tips on how to fix this? Thanks in advance!

as far as i know, no you cant. openxr doesnt affect this. virtual desktop wouldnt cuase any fps loss. i start the g2, put it on, press the windows home key and select desktop and then i can use it as a normal pc with the headset on. the screen goes black and i press the left arrow then enter and im good to go.

if your referring to tracking, clean the camera lenses and make sure the room is well lit.

Hi guys, which videocard would you recommend for the substitution of my 3070Ti? I have a G2 as well and playing only with simulations, mainly AC. My maximum budget is enough for 4070Ti but I could buy AMD cards for much better price. Is it worth to consider them?

I'd probably stick with Nvidia. There was some initial teething troubles with AMD cards and G2 but that should be well fixed by now. Nivida seems to have better driver support.

As to which card I'm not sure. Logical step would be a 4080/4090 if you budget allows. But if you can hold on something better is always around the corner.

Thanks for your reply. Yeah, this seems to be the safer way, but seeing the test results I was wondering the AMD cards could be good choice. Is here anyone who is using AMD with G2 (or other VR)?

Haven’t used an AMD but I’m here to vouch for Nvidia, there’s a reason they’re one of the best in the game. I’ve been running a 2080 TI for 4 years now and it’s been bulletproof, and with a G2 and the graphics are better than my eyes can tell (though a new prescription may help that!)

On a different note, has anyone been finding that AC takes forever to load in VR lately for some reason? Loading for single screen is normal but in VR there’s about 5 minutes of a blank screen before the usual loading screen pops up.

hi, I stumbled across this page that claims to have a altered dxgi.dll file, which supposedly increases the fps in assetto corsa in VR.

Unfortunately it's behind a paywall and the google page requires to request access (which probably will only will be given when you pay up).

Anyone here happens to be using it ? If so , please share your thoughts on this here , thx!

All those .dll improvements are based on Fholger tool.
https://github.com/fholger
edit: checking his full page he is indeed using a Fholger based tool, so better to get it from the source itself, Fholger.

btw lots of female mods on that website, 😛

Hi Everyone, can I switch off the virtual keyboard while using CSP? If I'm using the UI of CSP in VR mode, the virtual keyboard is appearing and disappearing continously it's very annoying. I tried to switch it off in Windows many ways but no success.

I did have the same problem while using SteamVR. Now I’m using that OpenXR toolbox and there is no keyboard in my view and the nicest of all: AC and CM is now fully VR. No more switching to the monitor for starting a new race.

Interesting. I tried OpenXR but somehow it was much slower than SteamVR and I stepped back, but now I'll give it a chance again and try to find what was the problem. Thanks!

Windows 10 or Windows 11?

I'm about to build a new sim-racing PC with a newer CPU and RTX 4090.
If using a Quest 2 for PC-VR, have the issues with Windows 11 been addressed?

Using the same adjustments?
Because there is not a difference at the same adjustments. The only remark, it looks like the 90fps motion reprojection in SteamVR is better. But to be sure I have to compare again.

Looks good! I was wondering about the tracking, before he mentioned ‘base stations’, which would rule it out for me, but the screen tech is highly impressive!
An inside-out tracking version would make it an ideal cockpit/sim racing-only VR device.

Finally had the time and switched again to OpenXR and made some optimization as well, and now it's working very well. There are some weird issues, it plays the starting animation (with blue triangles) twice and there is an error message "Open XR crashed" which i have to leave it as it is. If I push the OK button Open XR is crashing indeed  But that's fine because the gameplay is really smooth and nice.
But, i still have the virtual keyboard as in Steam VR. How could you manage "AC and CM is now fully VR"?

hi all, in last couple of weeks/months it's a struggle to get Oculus Link working for PCVR with a Quest2...
I'm reading from others that since last update of Meta, some are not able to establish a link AT ALL anymore.

I found out that enabling file access (prompt when connecting USB asks you to deny this or allow this) makes link to succeed.
It has always been said by Oculus/Meta themselves to press "Deny and don't ask again"... hence many people did that.
In system option you can re-enable that prompt though...

If you have a Q2 and struggling to get Link working, give that a try!
