There is a very small number of manufacturers where having 24 cars coming to a game from it will see many great cars excluded. It is a real testament to the breadth of the portfolio of Porsche.

I cannot wait until the first offering lands, and although the racecars I hope to see will not be part of it, there is still sufficient serious metal included.

What kind of race car do you think won't be part of it?

I'm looking foward to racing the Porsche GT1 against the McLaren F1 GTR. Even though on Xbox I might be doing it by next year and not thus year

I would guess that there are going to be a decent amount of 'newer' cars. 911's, both street and race, from the last couple of generations. The boxter / cayman family, the 918 Spyder and we know for sure the 919 Hybrid. Then a few classics in the 911 family, I would guess.. That could be 10 or so cars right there.

When it comes to the classic Porsche race cars, I don't really know which are more precious than others. I mean, I could rattle off 5 or 6 models that are legends, but if I needed to rank cars in order of importance, I couldn't do it. And after those 5 or 6 I would be staring at my keyboard unsure of what to guess. I would think there are going to be some nice surprises in the mix too.

One thing is for certain, there are going to be some many people who are extremely PO'ed about the exclusion of a model or two. You can't please every single person. :( I know I have some "wishlist" models I hope are included.

One of my favorite Porsche race cars ever is already confirmed, the 911 Carrera 3.0 RSR

You bet!
Except for Cayenne, Panamera and Macan i want them all! ;)

Despite the Porsche DLC being developed simultaneously for PC and console I assume that the console will remain one month behind as we have yet to receive the Red Pack. I could be wrong but I cannot imagine two DLC packs being released in the one month nor can I see them keeping the Red Pack back until the Porsche Packs have released.

I was referring specifically to Porsche Pack 1. The racecars I really wants to try out are the 919 Hybrid, 911 GT1 and 911 RSR (GTE).

.
I was thinking about this: For console players with the season pass it would actually be more logical to split Porsche packs up with the Red pack. That way there's not a stream of just Porsche cars.

It might end up with 1 pack per month as follows:
  • Japanese Pack (including the free track and Maserati SUV)
  • Porsche Pack 1
  • Red Pack
  • Porsche Pack 2
  • Some <unexpected> free content
  • Porsche Pack 3

I think the disastrous console launch threw a monkey wrench into a lot of the original plans. I know that the coders have nothing to do with the modelers & other artists, but it's kind of hard to be splashing DLC all over the place when people are on the verge of asking for refunds. Who knows...Maybe the console launch issues have nothing to do with the DLC delays.

I'm wouldn't be so sure about that.

Yesterday someone posted a comment on Marco's FB (regarding the latest Porsche teaser) asking "When?" and he answered "As soon as we get the last authorizations needed, we'll inform you".

I wonder if this isn't about Sony/MS's authorizations?

Another comment mentioned a new laser-scanned track in Q1 2017.

I just LOVE how this game is continously evolving, how it gets that much support even 2 years after the PC release candidates. Of course, we can thank the console version for that. But its always sad to see games like PCars or Forza getting dumped just after one year so they can focus on their next game. AC will have a bright future, thats great.

I can imagine that the Porsche DLC hits all platforms simultaneously. The Japanese Pack released without any real advertising on consoles, so I don't see why they couldn't sneak the Red Pack in alongside the Porsche DLC at some point. I'm pretty sure that none of the cars in the first Porsche DLC require more development on the current console build. One of the F1 cars in the Red Pack does though, so I'd be surprised if they get it to consoles in October. Getting the Porsche DLC out for all platforms at the same time is probably best for impact, and it would just make things unnecessarily complicated not to. I'm speculating here, but really.

I believe the reason the Red Pack isn't ready yet is because they're still porting over all the rocket ship controls for the F1 cars (likely not an easy task).

My guess would be it's Porsche's authorization. Porsche are going to have to approve the 3D models before they are released (standard practice) and I highly doubt Kunos would hold back the Porsche pack from PC players to wait on Sony/MS patch approval. That's just unfathomable really.

Ridiculous! Disgraceful even! Consoles have a bad enough influence on the gaming industry as it is already :D

Down boy, down!! :P It really is just unthinkable though, PC players outnumber console players by an order of magnitude and Kunos wouldn't be where they are today without the PC players. To make them wait for possibly the most desired DLC pack in the history of sim racing would generate so many tabloid headlines and angry forum posts that the Interwebs might implode. Makes no sense to do that just to appease some console players (no offense).

The Porsche DLC will need a new build to include the new FMod sound update. This should improve audio across the board and hopefully fix existing glitches. Whether they include the Red Pack updates in that is anybody's guess, but I hope we finally get to assign controls or at least get a few more presets. DRS button on the wheelbase is just daft. :dunce:

I thought the FMod discussion was about some third party mod for PC. Is it something Kunos will bring to all platforms? Where was it said that it affects the Porsche DLC?

It's a change to the entire FMOD structure which is the system that handles the audio for all the cars in the game, including the Porsches (though one would think they knew ahead of time that FMOD was being updated and that would have figured into the development of the Porsches).

The curious thing is that they said the updated tools would be released to modders well in advance so they can update their cars. If this is the case, and the next update is expected to be released in a couple weeks, then it would stand to reason that the modders already have the tools. But, I have seen no mention of this which suggests the update may be a bit further off than we thought/hoped.

I just had a strange thought that the Porsche cars will be arriving on Sunday because on Marco's Facebook page he said ANY GIVEN SUNDAY just a thought probably wrong I suppose we will find out tomorrow!!

I highly doubt that. I have never seen any dlc being released on a sunday. In any case, its getting late. Almost friday and still no news...

Kunos is giving us the Polyphony treatment :lol::lol:

Well, based on Marco's post it's likely the cars are in the hands of Porsche for review/authorization right now and if you know anything about the boys at Stuttgart they are likely deeply analyzing every pixel for perfection and cannot be rushed. So it's probably out of Kunos hands at the moment, they'll be ready when Porsche says they're ready.

Today, there has to be an official trailer and announcement. If it doesent happen today, the whole thing is propably getting delayed again.

"Just some quick note for our AC fans, before the official announcement: the Porsche Pack Volume 1 will be released on Steam on October 25th, and on PS4 and XB1 as soon as Sony and Microsoft approve the new build, since the approval process on console is not under our control. I'm glad to confirm that Steam approved our request to provide a Season Pass for the Porsche DLCs, that should be available by next week. The Season Pass will cost 15 Eur and it will allow to get all the 3 Porsche DLCs through a unique purchase, saving 28% of the full price. Each DLC will include 7 Porsche models, and will be available at the price of 6,99 Eur on PC, PS4 and XB1. About the list of cars included in the Porsche program, stay tuned. The cars included in the Vol.1: 911 Carrera S, 935 Moby Dick, 918 Spyder, Cayman GT4 Clubsport, 718 Cayman S, 917/30, 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 1974, to provide a perfect mix between road, racing and historic cars. As bonus free content available in the next update of Assetto Corsa, we'll release Silverstone 60's and the new Porsche Panamera G2."

Marco on FB, a few minutes ago.

Excellent news.

Yeah...I just saw that. Sweet...

So, $15 for the Season Pass and we still pay $7 for each DLC. $36 in total. Probably ~$46 in total without the Season Pass? I really don't care about price. I just don't know why they didn't do it like consoles... Buy a Season Pass for a price that lets PC players get all 3 Porsche DLC packs.

Oh well...No biggie to me, but I can not wait to hear the bitchin' & moanin'... I've gotta head over to the Official Forums to see people losing their minds over the cost. How many ppl do you think get banned over this? Vegas has the over/under at 3 1/2... :D

EDIT: Or maybe I misread Marco's post. Maybe the $6.99 is the FULL price and Season Pass holders get 28% off that price? :boggled:

I'm an idiot.

No, its 15 euro for all 3 packs. If you purchase them individualy, its a total of 21 euro.

Oh yeah...That makes more sense. I haven't slept in like 30 hours... I don't know why they keep their DLC prices so low. I'm interested in seeing what the old Silverstone is like.

My mind converts this to: Give Kunos too little money again (€15) for all the neat stuff they will be giving me.
I agree. For some reason I thought there would be a slight price adjustment on these packs because Porsche. Nope. They kept it like the other DLC.
