Slightly off-topic... Having seen Kunos' announcement that we are getting Classic Silverstone with the next patch, I decided to actually have a go on Classic Silverstone in pCARS (for the first time ever).

I took a whole bunch of cars round there, and had some of the most fun I've ever had in pCARS. Particularly sliding the some of the '60's Lotuses, but also the BAC Mono and Caterham R500 around that track was an absolute blast.

So on the one hand, I'm now hugely looking forward to Classic Silverstone in AC. But on the other hand I'm currently addicted to Classic Silverstone in pCARS :)

I'd love to hear your comparison of your experience with pCars/Classic Silverstone vs. Assetto Corsa/Classic Silverstone. Of course, you'll need to use a car that's available in both sims. I don't know squat about the cars available in pCars. Just pick one that you drive consistently in, of course.

What's the exact version of the 911 Carrera S? 991 or 991.2?

They don't have any natural opponents in AC.
I'm not sure if they're 991 or 991.2's... I guess we'll find out on release day. Of course AC doesn't have any natural opponents for them. It almost seems like they try to give us cars that don't have a natural opponent in game. It's getting much better, of course, now that the number of cars has grown substantially.

Really hoping it's the N/A 991.1 Carrera and not the newest turbo Carrera.

Yes.

To be honest, I would rather have the Naturally-Aspirated Carrera S. I'm sure we'll end up with a 911 Turbo or Turbo S, so it would be nice to have a newer model without turbo charging. Yes, we're getting the GT3 RS, or is the GT3? I can't remember. Anyway, that car is NA.

The visual differences of the Carrera 991 and Carrera 991.2 are very minor, aren't they? Perhaps I will have to take a peak at power.lut and.... no... that wouldn't be right. :D

No Woodcote chicane in the AC version though ;)

Well, you can tell the difference between 991 and 991.2 easily if you compare the rear of the car. And i have to say that i prefer the 991.2. Why? Because its faster on the track and we never ever had to chance to drive this, the newest model, in any racing game.

The 991 turbo has not been comfirmed so far, but i would be surprised if this wouldnt show up in pack 2 or 3. The car in the trailer was the 911 GT3 RS (991, too). That beast is simply ace.

I wouldn't be so sure. The first eight cars have already been revealed and scheduled for release, and we know the 718 Boxster, 718 RS60, Cayman GT4 road car, two 919s, a Macan, a Cayenne, and a 911 GT3 Cup are coming. That's 16/24 already, so only 8 slots left. I'd think the eight cars that featured prominently in the initial trailer but haven't been confirmed yet (991 GT3 RS, 917K, 935/76, 936, 911 RSR (GTE-class car), 911 GT3 R (GT3-class car), 911 GT1-98, 962C) have a greater chance of making the cut than the new Turbo, and then there's cars like the 908 Coupe, Carrera GT, 993 RS, 964 RS, 997 GT3/RS, 996 GT3, 924S, 944 Turbo, a classic 911 road car etc. that haven't been hinted at but would be well received. Of course, the 991.2 Turbo could still be in one of the next two packs, but it's nowhere near a sure thing.

No Woodcote chicane in the AC version though ;)
That's a shame. A late 70s version of Silverstone would be best as you could include a woodcote chicane layout and a layout with the chicane bypassed (the original corner was still there).

I'm probably one of the few people that was hoping for some 928 or 944 front engine goodness. Sacrilege,I know. :embarrassed:
I'm with you.

I'm not excited for driving overpowered cars on 70s tires like the 917/30 or 935, as I know just keeping them on the road should prove challenging and likely unrewarding as I'd never get near the limit for very long. I'd much rather exploit something tractable like a 1988 924S (all of 160 hp!) and drive it/race it on the limit for lap after lap.

I haven't played AC for a while so I decided to get on today, but for some reason I get really really bad stuttering, sometimes it even freezes. I can't seem to find the problem that's causing it. I lowered the graphics to the lowest, but it's still happening. I was fine the last time I played which was when VIR was released.

Nevermind, I seem to have fixed it by doing absolutely nothing. :odd: That was quite frustrating.

You're not alone. I keep hoping to see news on the 968 Club Sport. Evo did an article on it a few years back and I've been fascinated by it since.

Oh, I'd definitely be down with that cause... 👍

I would imagine that this is going to be the beginning of a very nice relationship between Kunos & Porsche. Well, not really the beginning since Porsche already has their simulators up and running, but you know what I mean. Anyway, hopefully these 24 cars won't be the only Porsche vehicles we see. We get new Ferrari's, new Lamborghini's, etc... from time to time, so I don't see why we couldn't get a Porsche or two down the pipeline. It would probably be a year before that happens because we all know what would happen.... "WTF Kunos??? Can't we have anything else?! Screw this...I'm going to play rF2 which is better anyway."

Is it the 25th yet?

I have a problem here on PC - lost all of my career progress and lap time records. :irked:
The controller setups, car setups and Special Events results (!) are still there though.

I checked the official AC forum (Troubleshooting section) and there are some people with exact same problem. And all reports are recent (September - October 2016), so it may have something to do with the latest update.

The career progress is recorded in userdocs\Assetto Corsa\launcherdata\filestore\career.ini file.
I recommend everyone who plays on PC to backup this file. Or even the entire launcherdata folder, it's not big.

The prettiest whale around but were they not even allowed to use the real Martini colors? I get that the logo and name may be prohibited, but that one looks black and white where it should be light blue and dark blue. Hopefully it's there in another livery.

I know it doesn't help console players but I'm sure there will be skins online for PC players.

I'm not following?

It's called the widowmaker because it's likely to kill whoever drives it. Thus, if the devs drove it they likely would all die and we'd have no more devs.

Not sure if this figures into it but I recently learned that Martini has actually trademarked the stripe motif used in their liveries.

Just look at the Martini Williams F1 in F1 2016 to get your answer. Or why in Forza some of the older Cars don't have their popular tobacco liveries but others. I think video games are a medium where it isn't aloud to promote tobacco or alcohol, or where it isn't done cause in many regions it's not aloud.

And yes, just like in Forza 6, People on PC will add proper liveries to the game themselves, sadly not on consoles yet. But Kunos should put up a database where people from PC can upload there liveries and give console players and option to download them as well. That wouldn't even fall under modding.
