For PC only, I know I know, the console people will be even more jealous!
a new apps called justrace allows anyone to create his own combo event in about 3 minutes, like having his own personal server!
I just had my first race with my own combo, it works great!
Assetto Corsa is suddenly awsomer!!

I just saw that thread, looks like it's been around a little while but I'm not sure I'd heard of it. Did many people show up to your race? I've been planning to look into SRS but from what I read the participation is pretty low and grids are pretty small so I haven't been super motivated to get it set up. Hopefully one of these organized racing services will take off and have lots of people racing but most of them seem to struggle and the longest running one, Race2Play, is shutting down at the end of the year due to lack of participation.

It is new to me that I can create my own events in a few minutes, invite my friends to join without having to set up a server, feels like the old days. Of course any one can join as well.
SRS is something else, they are pre-determined combo coming back at regular hours, totally different concept.

Right, I read all about it this morning. But did many people join your race? Could you tell if very many people were using the system?

I see it as a way to organize our own events with our friends, if one is trying to set a combo and wait for strangers to join, then it is going to be like any other server, either you set it with gt3 and it might be popular but then why bother they are already out there. But if you would want some specific cars and track then you just tell your friends, set a time, and voila, you are in business without having to set up a server yourself.

But did many people show up for your race? It sounds like a great service but if not many people are using it then it won't be as useful as it could be.

I have noticed something on PS4 servers, it's all GT3, drift and tourist that are full and the 1s that really interest me are empty or only have 1 or 2 people. But i have now noticed when there is a lobby that interests me and it has 4 people, i join it then it quickly fills up .

Cleary their are people who want to race something other than GT3 but only join GT3 because of the lobby. I raced with the abarth AC last night1for about 8 races in a row and every race was a full grid with half of the lobby changing each race.

Exactly, and now as an alternative to join someone else server that has something more or less with what you like, you can do your own exactly how you want it, it will show up on the AC server list, as any other server, invite a few friends to have some activity to attract other and you should be in business. All that for free, if it is not good news, I do not know what is.

Same on PC, majority of the servers with a decent amount of people in them are GT3s or track days at Touristenfahrvergnügen.

Someone developed a term for this, I think it's the "sim sheep" effect, or something like that. Usually nobody will join an empty server and instead look for one that has some people in it they can race with. But once a couple people join the server it suddenly becomes more attractive, so a couple more people join, now it looks even less empty which makes it even more attractive so more people join, suddenly the grid is full.

How many people showed up to your race? Hopefully enough to have some good racing, but I can't seem to get an answer.

That doesn't surprise me, what surprises me is that you wrote Tourisenfartyvongole or whatever it's called instead of just Tourist.

It's exactly the same as when me and my mates go out on the lash, if there's only 2 people in the bar we're like nah screw that place no totty.

You did not get an answer because it is irrelevant how many people was in that event that I organised on my own to see how it was working, I have not invited anyone, you are one of my friend, I would have invited you, I will let you know when I set something up, it is going to have the word parity in it .:sly:

This is not some type of magical thing that suddenly all the empty server will fill up by magic, it is an opportunity for some one like me who does not want to be bothered by setting up a server, to have free access to one and organize my own thing as easily as it was in GT5, except this server is stable and it is Assetto Corsa.

Did I mention PC only, just in case:D

What cracks me up on console is, I've been in lobbies that were full and after 2 - 4 laps everyone more or less has disconnected and less than half the room was left still racing. Why so many quitters? I remember seeing 6 - 7 remaining out of 16.

Also it seems so many hate doing 10 laps. :odd:

Just an example (of many):

I was racing at Zandvoort, 10 laps with Ford Escort. 16 drivers on the starting grid.
-We start the race and I take the 2nd position.
-1st lap. 2 rage quitters. 14 drivers on the track.
-2nd lap. 4 rage quitters. 10 drivers on the track.
-3rd lap. 3 rage quitters. 7 drivers on the track.
-4th lap. The driver on the lead is 3 seconds ahead but suddently he misses the braking zone and goes out of the track (and I overtake him). He quits the race in just 5 seconds! Another driver does the same. 5 drivers on the track.
-6th lap. 1 rage quitter. 4 drivers on the track
-7th lap. 2 rage quitters. Just me and another driver (20 seconds behind me)
-I pray he doesn't quit the race during 8 laps.
-We finish the race (I've been lucky).

So, finally from 16 to 2 drivers in just 7 laps.

Now, do you think it's normal? In my opinion finishing the race it's a sign of respect to the other drivers. If I go out of the track I continue the race. If I crash the car but it's still driveable, I continue the race. If I'm slower than the others, I continue driving. If my opponent is 20 second ahead and it's a 10 lap race, I don't mind, I keep racing.

Maybe rage quitters aren't annoying like trolls, but surely they ruin the race experience to the others.

Oh, ok, for some reason I got the impression you had some people show up for your race. It certainly sounds like something I want to investigate, presuming there's enough people using it to get at least a half dozen or so people on the grid fairly regularly. It seems to have a lot of neat features and options, but SRS and Race2Play do too and neither of those seem to do well at attracting crowds so I was wondering if justrace was having any better luck.

Right, which sounds great, and if enough people start using it then hopefully you could get a server filled up pretty quickly. Setting up a server in AC is easier than I thought it would be but you do need to do some port forwarding and have decent internet speed to pull it off so this seems like a nice option for people who don't want to mess with the AC server app or don't have good enough internet.

Can it do mod cars/tracks?

Yeah, some people will just quit once they realize they aren't going to win or be able to keep up with most of the pack. I've been guilty of it on occasion but I try to stick it out until the end most times, sometimes it can be fun to fight your way back through the field and getting a top 5 feels like a victory.

Which I'm surprised because I've caught people a lap down from shot tyres to cold tyres or multiple spins and crashes. That is the thing I love about this game, never quit because when you think what is the point it is amazing what has been happening on the track when you cannot see it.

I've seen people lead a race and thrown it all away mid last lap from a silly mistake for 3 - 4 cars to pass them.

I'm no expert far from it but I like to try and stay consistent but never quit.

Brandon, once the server is set and time comes for the race, it looks like any other server, any one can join without having to be part of anything. Just like when you set your server.

I started something close to my heart.

I often finish last in races, but so many people drop that I move up and I get the chance to practice under race conditions and hopefully get better.

I never created an account on SRS either. I was planning on it. When SRS was first announced it was like a sim racing magnet. Room after room filled...so I heard. I think this might have been around the time I ripped the chord out of my DFGT. :banghead:

Sadly, it seems like the excitement of SRS has worn off. At least, a very big portion of the excitement. When something like that happens I feel bad for the developer. There must have been a lot of work put into designing the system and then coding everything & building the website, etc. Hey, I guess that's life, right? We take chances.

So far, the best community service (for Assetto Corsa) has got to be minorating, right? It doesn't require the player to do anything, as far as I know. Plus, it helps filter the jerks who like to spend their time ruining others.

I'm no stranger to last place either. It seems like every time I join a random server I end up with Mario Andretti, Nico Rosberg, Tony Stewart and the rest of the gang in my grid. :banghead:

11 days until Porsche Packe 3!

This happened to me in a race last night, got span out on first lap and i knew a lot of them would also spin out so i could gain some places. Also i noticed race craft actually works in AC, you can defend by positioning your car in the right place. This doesn't work in GT, people could just shoot passed either side of you then slam on the bakes.

Dallara built this crazy new simulator...Companies/Teams can rent this thing out for like $12,000 per day! Assetto Corsa Pro was licensed for the assets, graphics engine & more... Can we have the Indy & Monaco tracks, please? :D

Let's all pitch in to rent that thing for the day, but only drive the Flintstone's car around Nordschleife or maybe a road course:

The new Dallara simulator is a thing of beauty. At the very least it would be great to see some of their cars hit Assetto Corsa. I would gladly take the 2017 LMP2 car.

You must respect what Kunos what achieved in the industry. Here is a small team that currently provides simulation software to Ferrari, Porsche and Dallara. That is a great achievement.

Lmp2 pffffft I want their f1 cars like the one that scored a third in Imola when I was a kid watching the race from curva tosa!

I'm not positive if there are any more Dallara cars available in AC, but I have a Dallara F312 and two different Corvette Daytona Prototypes. I like the open wheel F312 because I can actually handle it, unlike most open wheelers. :D
