I agree with you guys - the dirty windshields could be cool if it was a dynamic buildup. The fact that you've got that dirty film on your windshield on Lap 1 of a beautiful clear day with no one else on track is kind of :yuck:... There are some windshield mods available. I haven't tried any of them. One of the more recent windshield mods is to give a more realistic broken glass look, at least according to the description. I usually keep damage at 10% so I rarely shatter my windshield.

That's right console peasants! We even have freakin' windshield mods! j/k I love you all...in a totally platonic way. ;)

Ain't nobody got time for a dirty windscreen

Hey don't get me wrong I don't endorse the site, or any of its content - I just figured it was slightly suspicious and not the best of business practices IMO.

No, no it is not hilarious. I feel so dirty.... :irked:

This may be a silly question, but are they free to just use your name/alias like that?
Sure. I don't see why not. Brandon posted on a public forum, so there's really no expectation of privacy. Now, if those losers at PRC had any integrity, they would not have posted his name. They could have just written, "A user on the official forums said..." or whatever. Also, since they did use his name, Brandon could ask them politely to remove his name from the story, but again, people with no integrity aren't going to facilitate a request like that. Heck, they actively TRIED to damage certain people's reputation by creating photoshopped conversations. They were busted, but not embarrassed because they're people with no integrity to begin with.

I know some people go there for a chuckle. I used to read their posts...They do raise good points from time to time. Repeatedly lying or stretching the truth to its breaking point frequently makes me disinterested. The writers over there seem to have a hard-on for Assetto Corsa, in particular, but that's only because it's so popular. What are they going to write stories about? GT6 couldn't get camber to work in 3 years? All twelve rFactor 2 players are mad that a promised mod is taking too long?

I don't give PRC a minute of my time. The guy is a troll. While much of what he publishes is true, he also completely fabricates stories and even tries to stir things up among testers and manufacturers - some of you probably know what I'm referring to.

I'm going to guess that based on the URL the article has something to do with a ripped track by someone - I think his name is ASPEC or something like that. After I posted that photo I went on the Official Forums. It definitely IS the conversion by that dude ASPEC, in my opinion. The skid marks & tires and even camera angles are like exactly the same!! I have no intimate knowledge of this, but it doesn't mean that Kunos has anything to do with it. They might, but it's not exactly hard to put a folder into another folder called TRACKS. I think it's pretty funny, actually, as Porsche is known to be such a stickler for their trademarks and such. Let me guess, the author at PRC is probably now questioning the validity of the laser scanned Laguna Seca coming next year too?

EDIT: Oh...I noticed something last night just as I was reading the first couple of posts discussing this matter on the Official Forums. Maybe it's glare...maybe it's compression & re-compression, but in the screenshot I posted doesn't it seem like the sign on the bridge is blank? The sign is supposed to say MAZDA, I believe. So, I'm thinking, "Did someone think that removing branding would somehow make this 'okay'.?" Heck, all people talk about on RD & the Official Forums is "get permission. get permission." I can't wait to see who's to blame. This is hilarious. Face --> Egg.
These are the idiots who said AC is basically NFS ****f. Trying too hard if you ask me. They have zero talent in trolling.

Considering Stefano has said the reason they wont add many quality track mods even such as fantasy track is because it takes just as long as making their own track as they have to check each and every texture to make sure they don't actually belong to someone other than the modder. Based on that I'm placing my bets on this having nothing to do with Kunos and those people in the pic probably got that track themselves. I hope.

Either way that article is pure Ass. From the outset it is about mudslinging, even when they are trying to be impartial it has tones of sarcasm.

You know what we are going to do under my leadership? We are going to build a firewall, and we're gonna make PRC pay for it. They have to go back!

@SVX You are absolutely within your right to post that information here. It IS Assetto Corsa related after all. I think it was interesting once I realized the similarities that Deep Throat was able to prove via screen grabs. :sly: I didn't read the article, so I don't know exactly how they worded things -- people have only told me the gist of it. I'm sure that PRC approaches it like it's an X-File... "Is Kunos doing exactly what it condemned its users for doing months ago??" "How many other stolen items has Kunos charged money for??" all speculation when we have absolutely no idea if the guy in charge of tech services at the Porsche Experience Center plays AC at home and knows how easy it is to add tracks. For all we know, Kunos and/or Porsche could have contacted Mazda/Laguna Seca to discuss using this track now while the laser scanned Kunos track is being finished.

There is nothing wrong with reporting this "story". But it's like seeing an 18 year old girl getting out of the Mayor's car, so you snap a photo and write an article on "Mayor might be having an affair!! Look at this girl, 30 years younger & way too good looking for him getting out of his SUV which he parked around back...Trying to hide her? Ay, Mr. Mayor?" And it turns out it's his daughter from a previous marriage. It's his way younger sister - mom & dad had an "Oh, crap" baby later in life. It could be his neighbor. It could be a million other things than an affair.

It's fair to ask questions, but I prefer facts.

EDIT: I want to add -- I am all for a Sim Racing Blog that holds developers accountable, talks about bugs not getting fixed or promises not being kept. But there is a right way to do things and a trashy, tabloid "National Enquirer" way. PRC prefers to do things in the latter.

These are the idiots who said AC is basically NFS ****f. Trying too hard if you ask me. They have zero talent in trolling.

I think that criticism is usually directed at PCars since NFS Shift is basically its grandfather. But they do lob all kinds of wild accusations at AC, probably more than most games (but no game is safe from their criticism).

They've also said they don't feel like it's right to charge people for mod tracks (I believe Zandvoort was a free addition) and have suggested it won't be happening any more because they don't want to spend time on something they aren't going to get paid for.

I think it was interesting once I realized the similarities that Deep Throat was able to prove via screen grabs. :sly:

Where's the dislike button? :irked:

Edit: Beaten to it.

The 911 RSR 2017 wont be released with next weeks pack but later.

That's why i thought it was very unimaginative of them to say AC was basically NFS ****f.

An update on Vol III for PC players.

Well, I wondered if something like this would happen, considering the car hit the track in anger for the first time just this week. IMO it's not a huge issue considering that car won't have many friends to play with, but the GT3 and Cup version will keep us entertained in the meantime. Nice that they made an effort to make up for it by including another highly requested car........which suggests they have more Porsche models lying around that we'll get in the future. Have to presume they've already been working on the S for a little while if it's going to be ready by next week, leads one to wonder what other goodies they're working on.

Ok, so it's great great grandfather was originally ripped from another game, big deal.

Not quite ok still for Kunos to use it in my book. The guy saved a huge amount of time originally stealing the track model.

Altho yes, PRC is 99.5% garbage.

Wait, Which Mayor are you talking about?

So they've replaced the model and the initial model will be free? Nonsense, Kunos are holding content back because they are cash grabbers.

No proof yet that Kunos authorized its use. Let's be better than PRC and not jump to conclusions and immediately convict anyone without evidence of wrongdoing.

Huh? No. The way I read it, the RSR will be released later to people who purchased PP3 ("...as a FREE upgrade of the Porsche Pack vol. 3"). So technically they're adding a free car to PP3, the Turbo S. Adding a car for free is kinda the opposite of a cash grab if you ask me. But yes, it's likely they have more Porsches in the works that will be part of later DLCs.

Yea that's what I'm saying, in the GTS forum yesterday someone said Kunos were cash grabbers and hold DLC back like the Japanese pack. You wont be surprised to learn that the poster in question is one PDIs gaurdian Angels.

So, they're trying to do a cash grab by withholding DLC? Seems like an ineffective way to grab cash. I presume this goes back to the assumption that because the game was delayed they should have released the planned DLC for free, which also doesn't make sense. Yet in this case they're now giving people who buy PP3 8 cars instead of 7, not sure how adding another car to a DLC pack for no extra charge is considered a bad thing or a money grab. I suppose I'd better go tell PRC to write up an article about how Kunos are screwing over their customers by basically adding a free car to a DLC pack.

To be honest the thread in question was becoming about DLC in general. The member, I won't name, doesn't like DLC and used Assetto Corsa as an example. We don't know how delays can affect this sort of thing, but he did raise a very good point about seeing all these cars but with so many behind a pay wall.

Imagine you buy Assetto Corsa on console today - without a season pass. Your going to see 9 pre order cars, the Japanese Pack cars and Porsche pack 1 cars all unavailable. Once Porsche packs 2 and 3 and the Red pack release .... New players are going to be wondering what exactly it is they've paid for.

It would be better if they didn't appear in the car lists until you'd actually bought them.

Who the heck said that?
Can't post links but if you click on my name then my posts, check the last thread i posted in and all will be revealed.

Yea, we're getting a fantasy track free soon too. In the AC forum some idiot was saying Kunos are going to charge us an insane fee for private lobbies lol. Stefano called him a clown then edited his post but was too late lol. This same clown said that he wished Kunos weren't charging an unreasonable price for the Porsche packs and that he wasn't expecting them to be so expensive. Just lol.

Yes that would be annoying, but in this period of gaming you would have to expect or assume there is DLC already out if you've bought the game 3 months after release. Every game i have has the DLC built into the game like a dangling carrot. My biggest gripe with AC DLC (any game tbh) is pre order incentives. If It's stuff like liveries, gun skins, no problem. But cars are should not be pre order incentives. Didn't effect me as i pre ordered the prestige pack but still there should have been 1 base game.

He's totally right, $0.875 USD per car is just flat out highway robbery! Especially compared to the very reasonable $12.95 USD per car that iRacing charges.

Ok, but how hard is it to just ignore the cars you don't own. From a business point of view it makes a lot of sense to have them there to tempt players to buy the cars, otherwise some players might not even know these extra cars exist. Pretty sure GT5 handled it the same way, I'm sure other games have too. I understand that some people think that a business trying to earn money from selling a product is totally reprehensible and it should all be given away for cheap/free, but that cat food ain't gonna buy itself.

Yeah, good luck getting devs on board with the idea of not advertising their new premium content in-game.

That whole discussion about "money-grabbing" Kunos is funny. AC on console is of questionable quality, I won't deny: my posting history in this section should make that pretty clear. I'm also a pretty vocal critic of its constant delays with regards to the console versions being brought up to speed.

But I wouldn't call any of its actions particularly greedy. Over 20 Porsches are coming to the game, at a price that's about on par with the genre average (we get boned by the CDN exchange here). That's about what FM6 charged for the same amount (though it threw in VIR and all its variations, plus weather, plus an actual career mode). They're also offering Porsches for free with each pack (and beyond now), which has only happened one other time in recent years if I recall (2 Porsches showed up for free for a short time in FH2).

Meanwhile, GT once charged players for single-use paint chips.

If i go to my local supermarket, i see all kind of products but they all are behind a paywall. ;)

Now seriously, i really don't understand people are having problems with paid dlc. Every product in every shop or business you have to pay for. Why should the gaming industry be any different ?
If you think about how many hours it takes to make a car or a track, i think it's normal you have to pay for it.
