No proof yet that Kunos authorized its use. Let's be better than PRC and not jump to conclusions and immediately convict anyone without evidence of wrongdoing.

I see, I thought it was run by kunos.

Edit: so some more classic prc there, basically bashing kunos for something they have nothing to do with? :D

They're also offering Porsches for free with each pack (and beyond now), which has only happened one other time in recent years if I recall (2 Porsches showed up for free for a short time in FH2).

Over the last couple years we've gotten lots of things for free. I believe the Yellowbird, Zandvoort, banked Monza, an Audi, maybe the Miura, and maybe even a Nissan were all given to us for free. Freakin' money grabbing swindlers I say!

We're talking about the console version, though. I'd expect more free things from a game that launched in essentially beta form via early access. :P

If i go to my local supermarket, i see all kind of products but they all are behind a paywall. ;)

Now seriously, i really don't understand people are having problems with paid dlc. Every product in every shop or business you have to pay for. Why should the gaming industry be any different ?
If you think about how many hours it takes to make a car or a track, i think it's normal you have to pay for it.
You are paying for it. It's called the purchase cost. ;) I'm not apposed to DLC. Kunos needs to pay the bills just like everybody else. I like their DLC. I've bought all of their DLC. I was just looking at it from the perspective of someone buying the game now. It doesn't look good seeing all dem cars not available until you pony up.

Isn't this the same when you buying a new car IRL ? In the advertisement you see the base price, but if you go to your local car dealer you have to pay a lot more because the advertised base price didn't include does beautiful rims you see on the advertisement and it didn't include metallic paint and no airco,...
And i can give you an example like this about almost every product you can find nowadays.

It's pretty much the standard anymore though, isn't it? DLC is the way of life now, I wouldn't expect anything different nor would I bat an eye at DLC being advertised in the game.

I've increasingly gone to this comparison as well. It works, too: the base game functions in largely the same way as the full-fat model, it just goes about its business without all the bells and whistles. Imagine how silly someone would look if they walked into a Ford dealership, purchased a Mustang V6, and then raged on about how the dealership wouldn't upgrade it to full GT350R spec for free.

Games have been getting exponentially more expensive to produce, and the realistic racing genre is affected most of all. Licenses, that constant striving to replicate reality — the costs, in both time and money, pile up. It blows my mind when I see people suggesting a game's entire post-release stable be given to them for free.

And a base game cost not much more than a game 15 years ago.
Price average game on PS2 in 2000/2001: 50$/€.
Price average game on PS4 in 2016 : 60-70$/€. (AC was only 50 digital)

IMO it's not a huge issue considering that car won't have many friends to play with, but the GT3 and Cup version will keep us entertained in the meantime.

At least on consoles, all the GT2 and GTE cars are part of the GT3 grid. So i'm positive the new 911 RSR will be part of this group, too. GT2 and GTE cars are a bit faster on track, but the difference isn't as huge in this game as it probably is in real life.

I'd give up now if I were you :banghead: This "pay wall" argument is as old as dirt. For some reason many feel that if digital content is available it should be included in the base product. You could come up with 1000 examples for comparison but it won't do any good. I was just flipping through my TV channels, guess what, HBO is behind a pay wall (999 examples to go)

Man, that's weird. On the PC there's enough of a difference between the GT2/GTE class and the GT3 class to matter, and even the GT2 and GTE cars can be a bit off from each other because they're all from different years. And the RSR will be even newer so I suspect it won't pair up very well with the existing GT2/GTE cars (hopefully I'm wrong on that one).

None of which will be in anyway relevant since Assetto Corsa is nothing except Assetto Corsa. Apples are not Oranges. Not now, not ever. If you want a car you spec' it then you buy it. Guess what? it's still not Assetto Corso.

Again. After Porsche packs 2 and 3 and the Red pack land and someone buys the game and checks out all them cars they can drive - oh what's that large percentage of cars I can't drive? It is a totally stupid situation. They should not show those cars until you've bought them.

Yeah.. that reminds me of the Glickenhaus P4/5. Last time i checked it was pretty dominant on PC, at least against GT3 cars. I made up my own little championship like i always do, and the AI won the championship with this car (i was driving an AMG GT3). But on console, the P4/5 is one of the slower cars on the grid. 458 GT2, C7R and M3 GT2 are usually the ones im competing with, sometimes the AI is getting good results with the AMG and the 650S, too. But the GT2/GTE cars are the fastest. Not in their own league, but faster.

I guess on PC the balancing is different. Regardless of the plattform, im expecting the 911 RSR to be the fastest of them all simply because its a GTE car of the latest generation.

But how would people know to buy them if they don't see them advertised in the game? Not all players visit forums/social media all day long like we do so they might not even know DLCs are available. It's a developer's goal to sell as many copies of the game and as many DLCs as possible, so they're going to make sure as many people know about them as possible. Hell, when BCC first came out there were freaking billboards along the track advertising the Japanese Pack and when it would be released. As far as I'm aware this is fairly standard in the industry, a lot of games feature DLC and developers are going to take advantage of free advertising by have them highly visible within the game to try to entice players to buy it. Not doing this would be a bad business decision.

They can advertise them in any other way they like. Billboards around the tracks is not a bad idea. They have a section in the game called NEWS. They can add "New cars available" to it. I don't need to know what's new. The PSN tells me what's new.

A new player is going to look at the Porsche section and see what, 28 cars? 4 of which will be available to drive. (I'm counting the RSR in that)

I'm sure if you were a developer trying to sell DLCs you'd want them to be right in the players faces and entice them as much as possible. Put them in the garage right next to the other cars so people will say "man, I want to drive that so bad!" and then maybe even put a button right there they can click on to take them to the store to buy it, make it as easy and as enticing as possible. Right? Who cares if a couple players are annoyed by seeing them and not being able to drive them, it will be outweighed by the number of people buying them.

Pretty sure only 3 Porsches are free. The RSR is still going to be part of PP3 but won't be released until January, not added as a free car (though they should add one decent free Porsche so everyone has the chance to enjoy).

Right. The wording does kinda make it sound like it's free to everyone though, I had to read it twice before I got it. And just to be clear, I'm not trying to argue with you mate. I understand that from a player's point of view seeing cars you can't drive can be annoying. I'm just pointing out that from a business point of view it's a smart thing to do if you want to move as many DLCs as possible, even if it means some players are slightly annoyed. If you're annoyed by it the easiest way to fix it is to just buy the cars, right? Problem solved! I'm sure that's what they're hoping for anyway. :D

FS7
I read all this stuff about the console versions I keep thinking that the console versions should be called "Assetto half Corsa".

Well... A Good name would be "Assetto Corsa GO" like some smartphones game versions..:D

You get the physics and driving on par with the PC version... And for all the rest Assetto Corsa (GO) console version is a versioned game of the original PC version :P

So I got a PS4 pro for my birthday, which nicely replaces my broken PS4. So now I've been able to play AC with a wheel and.....

Help. Help me. I can't stop. I thought that Dirt rally was the best car experience I've had this year. There's lots I could talk about, but there is one thing that for me makes all the difference: you can catch slides.

There is a god  This drove me mad in PCARS, you could just never do it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting the game to resolve grip loss for me, but I do want to be given the chance to do so myself!! So now every time I push too far I'm not guaranteed to go flying off the track. It also means I can deliberately go sideways, which at least in the 1M and the Cobra I abused the hell out of earlier is one of the most entertaining and rewarding things I have ever done with a game.

I'm finally getting the full AC experience and I'm in love. Can we get that Giulia now?

Or Assetto Corsa Apex :P :D

Welcome aboard:cheers:. It is a wonderful feeling to be able to feel the limits of grip. AC is certainly not perfect but that's one thing it does really well IMO.

Where would you say it needs improvement? What games would you say do those bits better?

Sorry I'm just curious to hear :D
