The thing is, on console we can't turn the ghosts off, so in theory we could do one half decent, not-quite full-throttle lap and then try to just follow the ghost round, keeping it in check and slowing down if it looks like you'll pass it. Just need to be within 2 seconds, right? Unfortunately the cars I'd choose for this bet I've already set hotlaps in so would have to be proper on it the keep up with the ghost, and if the ghost gets overtaken it would make it a lot harder to gauge how close each lap is going to be. Lots of factors to consider but sounds like a fun challenge.

Although the real challenge for me would be to complete 3 laps there at any speed without crashing :P

The challenge is 3 consecutive hotlaps within 2 seconds in a proper car.

Eh? As opposed to what? You may have misunderstood my post.

That bit on bold. 3 hotlaps, on the limit.

How about the Carrera RSR 3.0? Yes? Ok good.

No funny business with ghosts or anything. Laps are fairly quick. Would put me in 15th place on RSR out of 67.

I choose this pic of Prost holding a nice big trophy. :D

For the better drivers in here, I won't be surprised if you're able to pull it off. If you practice and look at what your splits should be at various landmarks. Bridge after Aremberg, Karussell & min-Karussell let's say... Your tank is continuing to empty, so in theory you should get quicker over the next two laps, after setting a baseline.

And it looks like the @Wiz has already brought it home. :D What car did you use, Wiz? Well done... 👍

Hmmm that fast and you already did it? Smells a bit fishy!

I'm a couple of secs slower than you on average, I'll take that Porsche out myself see if it was really a hotlap, or you had your eye on the delta the whole time.

And no I don't extend it for everyone that does it :D

It's just that you said 'in a proper car' which I didn't understand. But it is probably actually easier to push all the way round rather than go easy, I just meant we can't turn the annoying ghosts off and could use them to pace ourselves, regardless of how fast it was.

I did have a delta app going but tried not to let it influence my driving. I'm sure it did on some level though. I'm now curious about this myself, so I'll do another session with the delta app turned off and we'll see how different the results are.

Try to make a vid for us fans ;)

Yeah about that.

Yes, I know - PRC. But as @BrandonW77 can back up, there's credibility to the argument.
I don't give PRC a minute of my time. The guy is a troll. While much of what he publishes is true, he also completely fabricates stories and even tries to stir things up among testers and manufacturers - some of you probably know what I'm referring to.

I'm going to guess that based on the URL the article has something to do with a ripped track by someone - I think his name is ASPEC or something like that. After I posted that photo I went on the Official Forums. It definitely IS the conversion by that dude ASPEC, in my opinion. The skid marks & tires and even camera angles are like exactly the same!! I have no intimate knowledge of this, but it doesn't mean that Kunos has anything to do with it. They might, but it's not exactly hard to put a folder into another folder called TRACKS. I think it's pretty funny, actually, as Porsche is known to be such a stickler for their trademarks and such. Let me guess, the author at PRC is probably now questioning the validity of the laser scanned Laguna Seca coming next year too?

EDIT: Oh...I noticed something last night just as I was reading the first couple of posts discussing this matter on the Official Forums. Maybe it's glare...maybe it's compression & re-compression, but in the screenshot I posted doesn't it seem like the sign on the bridge is blank? The sign is supposed to say MAZDA, I believe. So, I'm thinking, "Did someone think that removing branding would somehow make this 'okay'.?" Heck, all people talk about on RD & the Official Forums is "get permission. get permission." I can't wait to see who's to blame. This is hilarious. Face --> Egg.

Oh for 🤬 sake. That's the last place I want to be featured. :ouch: Yeah, I pointed out similarities but just because I like playing detective and not because I thought there was any issue with them using a mod track. This is a mountain from a mole hill IMO, it's a free mod track (not paid like the "article" suggests) and in the two years since the negative review that was featured the track has actually improved quite a bit and is of decent quality. Ok, so it's great great grandfather was originally ripped from another game, big deal. What a waste of bandwidth that site is.

Did I miss something? Greenish smear?

My windscreens are always filthy, due to my extremely lazy pit crew. I've scolded them, threatened to take away their snacks, and even tried filling their cooler with non-alcoholic beer as punishment, but yet they refuse to clean the windscreen or even remove a tear-off.

Seriously though, I've never been a fan of this effect. If it built up over a session it would be cool, but just sending me out with a filthy windscreen every time I don't care for.

HAHAHA! Your name is mentioned in the PRC article? LOL! That is hilarious... Wait..What if it happens to me?! :nervous:

I can honestly say I haven't read any PRC articles in several months. I think it's completely fair to have a blog where all they do is criticize, but when you resort to making things up and lying about other people - you've blown all credibility with me. As I say all the time...Play the game that you enjoy. Don'y play AC cuz it's the new hotness if you don't like how it feels. Play the game that you do feel comfortable with. I know most of us are easily impressed and all, but I haven't had as much fun driving virtual cars (with AC) since probably the first week I owned GT6 when I popped my cherry on driving games. 13 months along and I'm still as happy as Day 1. That's the only thing that matters to me.. Well, that and being positive Kunos isn't a front for ISIS or something crazy like that. :sly:

Heh!

Glass has a green effect but I cannot say I've noticed a green smear in the game?

I agree with you guys - the dirty windshields could be cool if it was a dynamic buildup. The fact that you've got that dirty film on your windshield on Lap 1 of a beautiful clear day with no one else on track is kind of :yuck:... There are some windshield mods available. I haven't tried any of them. One of the more recent windshield mods is to give a more realistic broken glass look, at least according to the description. I usually keep damage at 10% so I rarely shatter my windshield.

That's right console peasants! We even have freakin' windshield mods! j/k I love you all...in a totally platonic way. ;)
