Surprisingly, I ended up voting for the 575 because apparently it will play nicely with the MC12 and I'm more likely to use those cars than the 512/917.
Not if simulated correctly it won't. Did you watch the MC12 race before the last try at a GT1 world series? Drive an MC12 or lose by whole laps was the rule.

I apologize for not knowing every minute little detail of past racing series. Many people on the forums said they should be pretty compatible, I did a quick search on their specs and they looked very similar, so I voted. Probably doesn't matter anyway because the SF70H is likely to win.

I don't get it either. Even Ferrari knows the F50 was a bit of a let-down based on reviews, customer & the public's general reactions toward the car. Was the F50 the first Ferrari that was not allowed to be "tested" by the major automobile magazines of that era? I might be wrong, but I swear Ferrari forbade the instrument measuring & publication of any performance numbers.

It wasn't very competitive, at all.

Oh well, I was already pretty sure whichever one I voted for wouldn't be the winner anyway so no loss.

This is what I tried to say the other day. Voting for a car which someone truly knows won't win could turn out to be a loss. Instead find sympathy for a car shaping up to be a real contender. Wouldn't it seem like the most probable way for players to get a car they want, and not one they don't want? Anyway, showing support for a personal favorite is totally fine. I could see the 575 GTC getting enough votes to send a message to Kunos for 2018 and beyond.

Yeah. I think that's exactly why Ferrari banned journalists from doing those tests when it first came out. I know some places were getting around that by using customer's cars and such, but Ferrari is Ferrari so their behavior doesn't surprise me.

This article lists a handful of other cars that were faster their "replacement" cars.
http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-culture/news/a26079/seven-fast-cars-that-got-slower-when-redesigned/

I know that some of these cars aren't technically replacements or redesigns...I'm just paraphrasing the article. Man, that Miura is HOT!

I'm sure most regular visitors know that I really like Assetto Corsa - it's the only sim I dedicate any real time to. I installed LFS but I can't see any reason at all to even have that on my system, but it was free, so whatevs. Anyway, I was curious if you guys think it's worth spending $15 for rFactor 2...Steam Sale, ya dig? :D

If you can afford it, I'd grab it. It's definitely worth having and it's made a lot of gains in the last few months with lots more to come.

I have it and find the graphics to be so-so but the physics to be great. That being said, I don't play it much at all. They are doing a lot of work on it and it is showing promise with updates so I am confident that I will like it in the future. It's cheap so give it a shot as you can always ask for a refund on Steam bud.

Ok. I think I will grab a copy. I know that things are a mess with the recent acquisition of rFactor 2 - the creation of that new company. Anyway, I didn't know if rFactor was going to continue seeing updates or if they were starting a brand new sim. Heck, for $15 how can you go wrong? As long as it still has a little bit of life left in it. I feel better now that you've confirmed it's not completely dead from a development standpoint.

So, we had an update today. v1.14.4 I think it was. I wanted to see what's going on with the suspension of the live axle cars now. Here is the rear suspension of the Ford Escort RS 1600.

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think that the top part changed at all. The new parameters are from [AXLE] to the end. Oh, the [HEADER] VERSION is now 4.

As expected, some people are having fun with this. Here is Gary Paterson's gorgeous cargo van:

Someone spent the time researching which cars in the poll have direct competition in the game.

I bought it in the sale and then promptly uninstalled it and requested a refund.

Weird sound artifacts for me (clicking), old non polished interface, content I'm not too fussed about, fairly poor visuals. I had bugs with my triple screen setup, and finally when driving the Honda BTCC car the force feedback went freaking weird. The Flat 6 mod was actually pretty decent around Oulton, but it wasn't enough to save it for me. Don't need another sim to clog up my system that I know I'll never play (just like AMS, sadly).

Thanks for the feedback @Punknoodle! I'm still debating it. I'm sure it will end up just sitting on my SSD wasting space. I know rFactor 2 does some things much better than AC and that's cool. I'm interested in seeing what those differences are, first hand. But, I'm sure I'll praise the things it's really good at but still go back to AC because of it's well-roundedness. I just went through that with Live for Speed. In fact, I'll probably uninstall LFS at some point today.

Hey guys,

Is there any way of toggling (funny word) the apps in Assetto with a steering wheel button? For example, can I map a button on my wheel to show the tire conditions (the 4 blocks that show temp, etc) when I want it?

If not, is there a program that might let me do it?

Thanks for any help

Hmm... Are you asking, "Can I assign an app to one of my buttons so I can display/hide that app while driving?" If so, I don't believe so. If you think a couple of apps are distracting while driving, but you really want them up so you know how your tires are, for instance...Try to see if you can resize them, at least. If they're resizeable just mouse over the app on your screen and you should see arrows indication grow or shrink.

That's not a bad suggestion though. Being able to show/hide your apps while doing 160mph and not having to drag the mouse around. Or, you know what would be cool? You know how we have 4 App Display setups now? The little boxes 1,2,3,4 when you mouse over the right edge of the screen...Well, it would be cool if we could mount a button to those.

Let's say you've got #1 set to show your tire app, a realtime position/time app & the lap time delta app. You leave #2 empty so you can toggle back and forth that way. Apps Showing on #1, All Apps Hidden on #2.

Like @ALB123 says, you can't assign a button for a specific app.

But if you want to get a bit technical about it then it is possible to either:
1. Make an Autohotkey macro that moves the mouse pointer over to the apps and clicks the correct one. And then you can assign that macro to your wheel button of choice. (Of course, you would need another button to click it off as well.)
2. Make use of your 4 hud UIs, i.e. put that app in one of the UIs and switch to it with Ctrl+Q (IIRC).
3. Same as 2 but instead of Ctrl+Q make an Autohotkey macro that simply presses Ctrl+Q to switch to that hud UI.

The possibilities are endless. :) If you're on PC that is.

Like Whitestar mentioned, Ctrl+Q will toggle through those four virtual desktop presets.

i'm a race game hoarder myself. I've purchased rfactor 2 back when it was 'early access' (even though such term didnt even exist back then) but played GT/iracing/AC instead. I dont even have the cdkey for it anymore. I consider it a donation to the industry that i love:P

That's kind of how I was looking at it. Maybe I'll like it. Maybe I'll think it's alright but nothing special. Maybe I will think its a waste of SSD space (like LFS was). But, I would be supporting the developers a little bit with my purchase. With everything that rFactor 2 has been through, up to it's ownership under a new company, I'd much rather see it succeed than fail.

@ALB123 watch out, rFactor 2 is dangerous, it take few hours to check out buttons and load steam community workshop mods (cars+ tracks and few apps) ~60gb after that, and re-using your AC licence on one particular track is highly recommended, then you don't need AC at all ;)
AI is just brilliant, only area where AC beats rF2 is visuals and some sounds, IMO, waiting your reactions after you have tested it. :)
