whether the track is uploaded on one link or another doesn't change anything as long as it's shared, you really looking for the little beast for nothing at all.
Sorry to bud in guys, but I have to agree with Zwiss here. I don't do mods myself, for no special reason other than not knowing how to. So this is just a user's perspective. Things are getting a bit out of hand, with the constant updates. Don't get me wrong, that's a great thing, and I love it! But it's getting near impossible to keep track (no pun intended...). Right now, if I want the latest version of pretty much ANY track, with all the community contributed new eye candy (and fixes, and cams, and skins, and... you get the point), I wouldn't know where to start! And I always look for stuff myself, before asking for help.
And that's another thing. Stuff being hard to figure out results in a lot of people asking for stuff here, because it's not always easy to follow a track (or car...) development throughout not sure how many days/weeks/months, and sometimes dozens of forum pages, broken links having to be re-uploaded, etc. And then, even IF they get everything, EVERYBODY has to install EVERYTHING, some people getting it right, others not so much, which results in EVEN more post for help.
If all the new stuff (and I'm talking tracks here, but it's the same thing with cars) was given to the original creator, he could just keep putting out updated packages with everything in its place, working, and this would be a better experience for everybody. I take it most creators do appreciate the new stuff. If anything, it frees them to work on new projects...
We've all had the feeling that we spend way too much time getting things updated and working, when, instead, we should be driving... I for one would love to have a sticky thread with mod track/car links, like on google drive or something, easy to update, and always ready for download, always with the same link.
Of course some creators may not appreciate or accept the 'help', but in those cases a track's development could be forked. Or a package could be consolidated, with the correct file structure, and everything needed, minus the track itself. Easy to put into place and pretty much fool proof.
Some creators may not be reachable online, or known, or have an account here, but, in those cases, a 'curator' figure could be assigned, right here in this thread, so that the same system could be used for those too. That person would make sure the latest version of that track, with all the new stuff, is also ready for everybody.
There are a lot of knowledgeable people around here, some have even admitted to being a bit OCD, so I'm sure there's plenty of motivated/knowledgeable people around to pull something like this together successfully.
Just an idea, as it makes more sense for someone really savvy about all things AC, to sort it once, than for every single one of us to have to do it ourselves, with mix results. I speak for myself, I often have to research stuff that a lot of you know by heart, like where to place what, and stuff like that, just to keep up with... installing a couple of files. And I don't mind, but sometimes stuff doesn't work, tracks and cars end up being removed instead of being enjoyed, and that's a bit sad.
