Sorry, any proof Aris took an afternoon to do the physics on some kunos cars?
I am not doubting that Kunos could not make perfect physics, some i hate for whatever reason...but the arrogance of you though....
As much as i love CM and all the jazz it brings, at the heart of it is a sim that has not been licensed to be used and certainly not to make monetary gsain from.
Reiza didn't just take the madness engine and stick a donation on it...they purchased a license.
I'd maybe look at just how far up yourselves you are and step back and see that yes the achievement is great.... but those connected to it paid nothing for the use of the 'engine' yet make what must be close to 1 million at least from donations...
I'd go easy on baseless claims of kunos employees doing cut and shut afternoon physics jobs...
You guys don't own Assetto corsa....so don't have the final say on how people chose to use it or what they download or indeed what they themselves chose to fiddle with...
Just my opinion...
AC has 178 cars according to a search. Over a 3 year period with no weekends, no breaks, it averages at best to 6 days time per car. However game devs have more jobs than just creating content, and in KS it seems like Aris had a lot of hats on at the same time.
The JDM pack cars are worse quality than what I and others can do in some 6 - 8 hours during one day, in fact they're more like 2 - 3 hours quality cars at times with the minimum of research and data used, that I really do believe some cars were made in an afternoon. I shat out an Alfa 33 Tipo physics update yesterday and today, which took about 3 hours combined with all the other stuff like springs, stabilizers, tires and aero, and it's still a better geometry than almost any of the KS geometries which are gross approximations at best, most of the time not even working, not adjusted for internal forces so cars like the GT-R GT3 and GT86 are just fundamentally broken and extremely divergent in handling from the real counterpart, evident on even casual observation.
For the most part every KS car is lacking basic stuff like even making sure that the geometries are offset correctly after they added wheel offset, or that controllers input in the right direction. To now I haven't found any car which has correct caster or SAI so I suspect they never check. Some of them have clearly wrong parameters like the Supra on launch having negative SAI, and I think it still has low single digits.
Stuff like the Supra and FD rear, which are nothing alike IRL, being the same geometry with minor tweaks. Stuff like caster and SAI being off almost 5x from their real-world values on every strut car. Stuff like most car's alignment not being in spec. Most historic cars having incorrect scrub radius which you can see just with visual inspection is off. Yellowbird's rear camber curve being off like 300%, so they had to boost the rear tire grip some 20%. The list can go on for probably half an hour straight.
The only real explanation for mediocre rushed work like that, which would get completely shat on if it was released as a mod, is that he didn't have enough time. I get it, it gets very stressing as well once your cars start to pass the 20-30 mark and they all have to be up to date let alone almost 200 cars. I give him a bit of a break nowadays when I'm in a similar situation.
It's not arrogance, it's just how it is. If I had my own studio and you were paying to drive my stuff, you'd be kissing my ass. It's all just perceptions.
And this is the tamed down polite version of the matter.
I'm not part of CM or CSP, have never been on their payroll nor have I made even over 100eur in donations.
Ilja has perhaps barely made 20k USD or so if you go by the Patreon numbers, which is far below minimum wage in even some poorer European countries. Nobody's making millions. I find it ironic that we try to make better than professional grade products for free and we get accusations of being greedy for donations.
