Well if you think about it in reality...Rfactor is about a 15-year-old game. So it's pretty obvious it would be low poly because of 1 word.
Aged. The games aged and has aged really nicely so you'd mostly be expecting a low poly track from a 15-year-old sim.
Yeah no I'm aware that rFactor/rFactor 2 aren't exactly the pinnacle of all that is high quality. I've learned that the hard way from trying to improve certain ports that I'm not sure I'm allowed to discuss freely, it's just a new rock bottom each time i see a new one that surprises me lol.

Man, I've got some serious catching up to do. Hope you all are well.

I'm to the point with AC that I feel like starting from a fresh install and just bringing in tracks, cars, etc that I really feel I will use. My current AC install feels like a complete mess and there are anomalies like missing wheels, graphical glitches, that I think might be fixed or at least easier to troubleshoot with a fresh install. Just typing out loud.

Oh, hey, I got the Oculus Quest 2. The world felt 'smaller' using the VR setup. I'm not sure if it is because I've been using a huge monitor for years. I couldn't deal with dialing down settings either. I've decided not to use the Oculus for racing.... but I'm keeping it for VR p0rn. jk. or am i?

Cheers friends!

Hi Teddie. Good to see you around again. Thanks for all your recent works posted on RD too.

Anyway... I recommmend that it's probably a good time to extend your break from here. There seems to be a very bad smell developing here lately which makes me think something might have died and started rotting and clogging up the forum with stinky rubbish that makes the place a lot less pleasant than it used to be.

Things that are decomposing usually have been sitting for a long time, guess that really does accurately describes some of the elder members of this thread.

I don't really blame you, to be honest, but thinking about it Rfactor 1 (despite showing its age) mainly shows converting tracks that were created for the isi engine (GTR2, AMS 1 etc.) are if not one of the easiest tracks to convert. And from looking at it perspectively, and I might be wrong cause I have never tried it at all and probably wouldn't since it'll be pretty bad (can't lie so I'd rather try and do overhauls with them....you know what mods), it must be really difficult to get them to high quality due to how old these games are. GTR2 is a prime example being about the same area of Rfactor 1 since that is only 14 years old and what not.
Again I might be wrong so do correct me where I am wrong lmao.

Thanks for bringing more good vibes to the world Rusty. Not happy enough just trashing everything to do with GTP on discord eh? Or did you get tired of abusing people there and decide it was time to branch out? Love your work.

Let me be explicit: You TOTALLY lost any respect I had for you when you started telling some people on discord to 'Go Hang Yourself' and other wonderful friendly pieces of advice of a similar tone. Not exactly the sign of a mature mind in my books. In fact, downright dangerous.

For the life of me, I can't help wonder why you can't just let others make their own choices? It doesn't matter if you agree with them or not. That's how 'freedom of thought' works. But of course, I should realise that you do know EVERYTHING, or so you keep believing.

Bye now. Hope you have a good day and cheer up a bit.

I'm not going to fully overhaul this convert I'm simply going to SHIFT L and CTRL J my way through it all then reduce tri count where i can using automated blender functions. The quality is genuinely worse than even earlier ACTR works.

Behold!

It would take a fairly decent amount of time to fix this, and the Author saw this himself so he went with "I'll just exclude that from baking" for the release.

So that's a pretty good indicator of what's going on with this track.

I literally had to put the 2 cars by side with each other. Yeah, I can understand why RSS did the choice of giving us the Hurrucan Evo for Free not gonna lie.   It's pretty much the same (maybe some differences here and there).

What a wonderful gift. Can't thank you enought.
It is such a pleasure to finaly drive this track with that level of quality.

..

I've made a billboard skin for myself, mostly Advertising Local beers and Canadian companies ...
as a Canadian who lived most of is life in Québec,
I'd rather see local billboards than motoroil ;)
Those sponsors are fictionnal, St-Jovite circuit doesn't have that much billboards anyway...

A great skin for a great track! Now it really does look Canadian!

Yeah, I completely get what you mean my dude. And ngl due to fact it's from Rfactor 1 (I don't hate Rfactor 1 just for the record ), it's actually not too shabby. May I ask, what was the main issue with the polys when it was put into ac was it mainly them not balanced out or something or am I completely going the wrong direction :banghead: (this isn't my strength it's moreover my weakness).

I'm no 3D Artist either but as you can see in the screenshot from blender, it's not modelled correctly enough so that the bakery has verts to work with. It's all just primitive shapes and whatnot.
I consulted a friend and he told me it has to basically look like this for the bakery to use it properly, otherwise in it's current state there's not enough information to draw shadows over it.

Just some text on a forum guys, no need to take everything personal. If you walk away from your pc and you're still thinking about stuff like this: relax. If you don't: no need to get worked up, right?

Words matter – and our ability to use them is what separates us from the rest of the animal kingdom. Hearing 'kind words' can make us feel on top of the world. People can be scarred for life when attacked by nasty ones.

I don't care for your personal quarrels with me or how I conduct(ed) myself on Discord. I'm here to try to talk some sense into people and possibly show that it's not all just black and white. Not everyone is fully good or fully evil and such judgements shouldn't be cast over flavorful text on public forums, there's a lot of helping that happens in private conversations with modders.

Writing an entire unprompted post about how much you dislike me isn't exactly bringing positivity into the world either. Goodnight.

@JakubP

Hey, I did some investigation on your claims of DC2 lifting the rear incorrectly.

I remembered that the car is using EX=0, which means on braking the rear will lift a little bit too much like I said earlier in my first post. EX=2 produces very buggy FFB for FWD/AWD cars, so I can't use it. Other than that there is nothing really wrong with the DC2. In some situations the rear will lift too much under brake-force application, which gives an impression of too much wheel lifting. It's for the most part visual and means the wheel will just come down maybe 0.05sec later. Nothing is wrong with the stabilizers, springs, probably not with the geometry either.

Here are some pictures:

First, the real ones.

Then I tried to replicate it in game.

As you see; it's as close as you can ask for. If EX=2 gets fixed, it'll be more or less perfect on brakes too.

No problem, now go enjoy the car.

EDIT: Imgur links have broken for me suddenly. I do have the pics saved so if someone wants to see them for whatever reason, hit me up on Discord.

I don't have a personal quarrel with you Rusty. What I'm resisting is the spread of unpleasant communication and what I have perceived as a form of bullying and unnecessary aggression, which is the very reason I stopped asking about anything on the CSP discord. I don't want to see that spread here, because until recently, it has been something of a haven from that sort of stuff.

If you're not here to do that and are here to be cool and friendly, then I welcome you as much as anyone else. I have in the past taken your advice because I thought it was worth taking. But I won't take any **** either.

So... let's put down the axes and let the thread here get back to the thing we share in common: A love of driving.

:)

So... uh.. my 20 day trial of 3DSimED3 is finally over... Do you guys think it's worth $40?
I have to admit kinda enjoy improving the LODs for my favorite modded cars.

The weekend is over, but 'Christmas is when we want'!

Not long time ago, I was thinking about a couple of these cars being in AC.
And here they are.

Yeah that's what I just wrote too when I saw Lucas Macedo release all of these sweet obscure japanese cars on Discord yesterday, I think I may want to see some of you here (or even some of my modders from my Facebook group) to recreate/find the original rims for each car since Lucas told me he lost them all for some reason, plus having someone like JakubP to make authentic as possible physics for each of them as well.

Also, since we now finally got two Mirages/Colts from '84 'and '89 respectively, I think we could also recreate their Cup variants as well if you all fancy it.

I gave 3DSimEd a try just recently and the cheap b*****d that I am I thought It's bit expensive for such a software. So I planned that I'm gonna have to accomplish all that I'm ever gonna accomplish with it within the trial period. But I kept learning more and more about it (and still am) and the game just keeps on getting better thanks to it.

So I'd say it's definitely worth the price.

On the downside (?) my game-time keep decreasing while I spend more and more time editing all kinds of trivial stuff. :D
