I couldn't deal with dialing down settings either. I've decided not to use the Oculus for racing.... but I'm keeping it for VR p0rn. jk. or am i?
Same boat, what it adds in immersion it more than breaks in immersion, great you can be in the car, pity its a minecraft car..

I took a break and turned to AMS2 for a while
I am STILL in AMS2 land currently, between it and RF2

You know nothing about cake! I’ve been in the baking industry for 10 years!... :sly::P
Bread is also cake!!! Do you encrypt your recipes?

Same way I feel about my 3dsimed. Clunky as hell, but just as useful.
what a powerful tool it could be if the UI and tools could be made to work "normally", for me, its importer/exporter only.
Welcome back by the way, and you didnt miss 30 pages of whinging and griping, it used to be like 90 pages, but mods got in cleared house, I think he heard you were coming back ;)

That's a very good answer, it's better to take a break because some people really aren't worth writing back and it's advisable to ignore. I really haven't met such two-faced people in my life yet. But, well, in the end, there always has to be this First Time Truth....

You and speaking people to reason, you think someone will believe you? Really, this is my last time I write you off, although I still think it's one time too many.

Oj Arch in your first 2 photos you can clearly see that the rear wheel is losing contact with the road, which never happens in the real world.
It doesn't matter, let's end this discussion here and now. I'm yours, yours, you'll insist on yours.
You show the pictures from BestMotoring, I show you my real movie, on which the wheel always touches the ground, and then you publish the pictures from the game on which you can clearly see the rear wheel rising up and no contact with the ground, but you still say that this is the way it should be.
Do what you do, don't bother, we're just wasting our time together singing about stupidity.

Greetings To You
Like I said, there's a lot of reasons why the wheel might not get jacked up. If your bushings are original, you'll be lucky to have any ARB rate at all. If you don't pull as much G, you probably won't jack up the tire either. If you have different packers on the suspension and impact them earlier, and get less roll, the tire might never visually leave the ground. Factors like that is why I try to stick to a more numerical method with clear criteria.

Anyway, I can't make changes based on vague things. To soften or stiffen something now would go against data that is difficult to argue against, so I'm not a fan. I trust that Best Motoring's car is definitely original and the driver is definitely pulling more than 0.8g at the very least, so I don't know why that's not a good reference. Oh well.

My only advice if you want to improve at your physics craft is to stop approaching things from a pseudoscientific standpoint, where you make the thesis in advance based on how things appear to be, and approach it with the scientific method, where you do research first to determine your thesis and then experiment to see if it confirms it or not.

Even if I wouldn't have looked at any video or known anything about the car, it would have still got to this point where it lifts the tire. Probably every good DC2 physics will, it's just how the mathematics works. I'm sure if you did a more detailed precalculated simulation of it, you would get the same result. Anecdotally, the videos from BM and various amateur videos around the net also confirm it. That's good enough for me. ;)

EDIT: Also I'm still trying to figure out the two-rate spring thing. It's possible in *some* situations, the wheel will have load on it because of the softer spring allowing more effective droop. But I need to figure out when, and if the unbinding happens.

Btw, is there a setting up way in this forum, to 'pre-like' a post before it comes out?
I mean, if we are a little squad of followers liking and agreeing with somebodys posts, our likes been there without we having the trouble to hit the like button?

Just curiosity, because we have many little squad of followers, hitting the button.
I'm on your squad for sure! Am I?

Well i tried this:
https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/horizon-shades-weather.36374/
Really good, dead easy to switch between in CM, brings some fresh eyes to the table and well worth having.
Recommended for sure.
Great performance too and i find in some lights SOL to be lacking, this address's this, not perfect and has its own limitations in certain lights.
But its easy enough to save on a preset and switch to suit.

Really like it.

Are you serious?
The "Horizon Shades" dev is the least concerned with an actual weather simulation or even a functional filter/weather ; he's just a hack trying to make a quick buck by shilling his blown out filter to YTers and recording videos at cripplingly high settings where the ExtraFX blur is enough to sell you on what is basically the most generic, yet also broken "Orange and Teal" filter.

It'll perform better than Sol because it's based on Ilja's own "base weather" implementation of WeatherFX that doesn't have all the additional post-processing and balancing that Sol has, which allows it to be about 10-20fps faster on my machine on average.

Every single Horizon filter user i've come across has not been happy with how the filter looks despite actively going out of their way to install it, since we all meet in the troubleshooting channels anyway.

Here's a recent victim

monza.jpg

and here's how his game looked after we were done exchanging settings

So please, for the sake of all that is holy; don't even indirectly advertise this pile of garbage filter written by someone who doesn't even try to be nuanced in their approach to artistic vision or realism. Instead try some of the up and coming filters from PPC that've been posted on RD like Javire's Photorealistic

Could you clarify this matter a little more? What am I actually missing if I use SOL and Ilja's weather implementation?
I don't mind missing out on "little" things for 10-20fps, really

It's an option easily switched to people personal tastes....

I prefer Iija's default weather now anyway, but yes horizon is based on that but in some cases works really well actually.
Its free and its easily tested with no damage to other stuff.
Slagging off an alternative doesn't seem very fair.
It's certainly gone a bit toxic around her lately.

By switching from Sol to Base Weather you lose:

Directional Ambient Lighting
Automatic Track Overexposure Correction (Sol writes specular mult and lit mult values on tracks it reckons are too bright)
Layered Clouds
3D Clouds that don't look like balls of cotton and do this at low sun angles
A Sunset/Sunrise that isn't broken

(Wide screenshot from guy that reported this intended color grading from base weatherfx as a bug, here's the discord link that leads you to my patch of it https://discord.com/channels/453595061788344330/453615074951561236/771366914068054036)

Sol is still overall the better WeatherFX implementation since x4 as you can imagine doesn't have a lot of time to spend freelancing on a tiny thing like this but; yeah. If you're struggling to hit 60+ fps it's either this or turning off post processing altogether and running Sol in pp-off mode.

I'm not sure what part of my post was toxic, I'm simply reminding you that the Horizon Shades dev literally named himself "Master" and harasses Youtubers into promoting his filter/weather combo.

It's entirely fair to "slag off" an alternative if it doesn't reinvent what it's based off, since at that point it's just plagiarism. But I guess that's too much of a hot take for some.

Ironic....

Oh the toxic bit: (maybe i am a snowflake)

" he's just a hack trying to make a quick buck by shilling his blown out filter"

Well i am glad i have it as an option. Yes the guy begs a bit, but is par for the course with AC these days... donation is really a nicer way to beg anyway.
I agree 'master' is a tough nickname to swallow without feeling slightly nauseous....

But hey, options are good. Personally SOL is great but not without flaws.

I have presets for different combos, so i can hot lap in SOL maxed out, then if i want to do 20-30 AI races i switch to the preset and I'm golden.

I love Iija's default and yes with your fix (very helpful BTW came across it on discord few days ago) its even better, so thank you.👍

About the "blown out filter" remark, his filter was naturally really foggy when it first came out and was reported as a bug several times over by users in the Sol and CSP discord which is what really aggravated me personally; screenshot attached of what that used to look like.

But in any case, glad to see that my fix's been of use to someone. Hope you have a nice rest of the day

Outstanding job, thank you VheEth! Just to let you know that the AI in turn 6(Hairpin) is broken and 90% of the AI retire due to it. If it can't be fixed, no worries.

Thanks again for this conversion, definitely the most accurate version in AC!

The wipers on the new Lambo from RSS work, but don't wipe the rain away in CSP 1.67 :scared: What to do?

Here you are my friend if you were asking for Lanzo overwrite with this one if you want make as always a backup.

I've added also some little vibrating to be more realistic.

Remove .txt and put inside extension folder inside car/mod

I get low FPS with your track but it's my problem because I'm not on a powerful PC (my bad), but great work anyway... having other layouts will be great. Just a suggestion, if you can do the drag race part (after the last kerb before the straight) a little bit darker like in the reality

RMi_wood:
Your Alfa Romeo 33 T12 is terrific. Thank you !
Please...are you going to put out a final version past .99d?
I find the .99d difficult to keep on track once applying brakes on a fast turn. It just snaps loose.

The track isn't particularly unoptimized in terms of object count as the DIP of it in the Render Stats app didn't go over 2000~ish which is about the same as Kunos' Zandvoort. You may have a hard time trying to run it if your CPU is weak due to the artistic choice someone made of using 3DSimEd to import trackside cars that are fairly high poly by AC trackside object standards... why people think it's acceptable to use that program in 2020 is beyond me.

Thank you, you to. You do in fairness offer some good insight on discord for what its worth.

I see that is blown out, he updated it recently hence my post, its better now IMO.
I avoid his filters as use my own ones.

not to mention RSS black Friday sale, which means 50% off

All of us that have Bayro, got that message. Useless to spread because the owners got it.

However I just saw it for free, in a couple of sites (not only in one!). And with the company of Heroes of Le Mans 4.
And I bet my parts that I'm not the only one that saw it!
