Whats "really nice" about a slow, old road car? Yawn...

You do know there's a 580 BHP 618 Nm version in that pack, don't you?
Anyway, if all you drive is fast, new race cars in Assetto Corsa then you're missing out on rather a lot.

Thank you for sharing this with us, Masscot. One of my dream cars to come to AC!
I did have a couple of W20s already and they were pretty decent (after some cockpit shader adjustments) but this one renders them both obsolete.

Well, by a certain way, I understand your point of view ... BUT !

Some people like simply :
- to cruise,
- to get a car which got a sort of affection with it (for me, they are the Honda S800 and the Chevrolet Corvair, two "family" cars),
- to be blasted by design,
- to get a virtual dream by obtain and driving it (by the way and here, It's the Ferrari 512 BB "road" but I never saw it for AC),
- and numerous other things ! ;-)

I'm not a "collector man" and my favorite way is on old and powerful cars as Porsche 917K, Porsche 917-30 "Can-Am" and mythic as Ferrari 312T, Lotus 98T (probably my favorite !) and so many other ones which got a glamourous (and sometimes tragics), heroic history and... WOW, the drivers were heroes, were gentlemen, were mad, were... MAGNIFICENT !

I'm an old guy who saw the first steps on the moon and technology is my way and you know what !?
I dislike so much the cars with V6 Turbo Hybrid as the last Formula 1 and, virtally, You are able to feel why now, very young drivers can be quickly very competitive, you just have to dare !
I'm far from the story of slow and/or road cars, I just can tell you that pleasure takes different ways and there is no necessary definitive judgement. ;-)

I repeat, I understand your point of view but "fast cars" can be really boring to drive (I'm thinking about all the last racing formulas, not only Formula 1), by sounds, by sensations, by visuals (take a look on the old dashboards, pure pieces of art and design !).

Oh, just some last words, I'll really LOVE to get my hands on a Facel Vega, virtually obviously ! ^^

Cheers ! ;-)

You didn't mention racing.
Racing is awesome in slower cars for a whole host of reasons, one of which is closer racing in a pack.
And more cars finish because there are less accidents.
There, that's two reasons.

Hi @Masscot !

Well, I didn't mention a lot of things or thoughts in my previous post, by the way You are absolutely right ! ;-)

This (early) morning and before these interesting talks, I decided to hotlap "slowly", for sounds, for design, for handling... just for pure pleasure !
Guess what !?
I took the 2 "old" and "slow" (really ?) Formula 1 Maserati, the V12 and the V6. ;-)

Cheers ! ;-)

yeah, im also not a fan of modern F1, i prefer the mid 2000s, and i think modern F1 should come with more technology like TC etc, Schumacher always preferred to have more, Vettel said last year in a german interview that a Fiat has more technology in it than his f1 car, and for me F1 should be about the best technology, the best driver of the TC era also were the best in the non TC era. just look at old videos and how early they could step on the gas.

@ Mascot

i agree there, the most exciting thing i ever had in an online league was actually Audi TT Cup, we had 4 guys in 1 tenth of a second in quali at RBR for example and i think i never sweat more in those short events than in any endurance thing. but for driving by myself, its always about speed, so yeah, competitively slow is good cause it evens the playing field.

The author mentions that the old WKmod has been updated, not that WKmod updated it.

Great car for this era:
-8.9s 0-100 (I made 9.1s but i'm bad)
-190km/h
-145 hp Turbo.
It's really a funny car to drive.

Many, many thanks for finding this, and to Mike for doing the work.

What do you guys think of the DTM mod by URD? Is it worth it? Do i have to install some new liverys/skins to get the authentic brands on the cars? Is it possible to use these mod cars on any custom championship against the AI?

Thanks for your feedback.

@RaceFuchs
On Racedepartment there's not only a skinpack dedicated, but also the "data" modified with the real brand and car names.
It's a good mod and yes, you can do Custom Championships with it, just like with any other mod.

That is one GT-S car I would be really interested in, still grateful for the Japanese classic, but not really my cup of tea.:sly:
The MR2 is great, as is the Skyline, but I'd have thought the people doing the GTS conversions would have picked cars that don't already have mods in AC. Hopefully all the unique cars will eventually appear, but it seems like converting each car is quite a slow process. The standard so far has been brilliant so if that's what it takes to get good quality then I'm all for it.

i agree. its a marvel we can enjoy Forza Tracks and GT Cars in the first place.
and its probably personal preference by the modders, cause for exposure they would go for something else.

I don't mind road cars, but I've been using AC as my gradual replacement for GTR2/GT Legends and I do wish more modders were making dedicated conversions of all the actual race cars that appear in other games, like the classic Group 5/IMSA cars and '60s prototypes in FM7. If we ever get a dedicated classic-racer modding group for AC like Brickyard Legends Team was for GT Legends, I don't think I'd ever need another racing sim again.

I'm glad you finally rediscovered this beauty :D

About shadow draw distance, why don't you drop a message on Discord channel? For sure someone could help you!

I definitely have, and I do know. uh LOL. Drove one some 15+ years ago, it was a pile of garbage. Its an old boring, slow ordinary road car, your defensiveness kinda tells me you may have owned on of those trash heaps at one point. Wheres my VW Schirrocco to fill the void lol.

Have you actually driven the MR2s that I posted yesterday, the ones that led to all the edgy comments in the first place? I spent hours in them yesterday and there was nothing yawnworthy about them at all.
