That's weird. Did you buy it from RSS?

Their product comes complete with cars, driver, fonts, and texture folders. And very clear instructions on how to install everything.

If you bought this from RSS and it's missing fonts, you should contact RSS.
I think that he did not buy this package. When you buy from a manufacturer such as PCC, you get all the files for the normal operation of their mod. I haven't received any mods from them, not even updates, without the complete set of files.

DiRT Rally - Lydden / Tarmac + Rallycross v1.0

View attachment 1072935View attachment 1072936

features:
  • 6 pit/grid
  • 2 layouts with full tarmac and rallycross (tarmac layout is all new)
  • AI for both layouts (rallycross AI will always take the lower joker)
  • CSP grass, lights, VAO

credits:

:: DOWNLOAD ::
Elevation wise this is no doubt the best available version (the other one is flat as a pancake and environment is not as it should be).
In hot lap mode (tarmac layout) car gets dropped here:

Night lights are fine too. But could you make the grass a bit darker ? (and maybe the ground under the trees). It all looks a bit uniform...

Just want to say that your Finland Dirt Trail is your best conversion ever - love it. Whatever you've done, you've done it perfect. More tracks like that from the same particular game would be great as for some reason the road surface seem to work perfect. I have tried other rally tracks from RD and elsewhere but none quite do it for me like this conversion from you - it's as if it was designed for Assetto by Kunos themselves. Could be the Dirt 3 tracks (I'm a layman - so going to say more gentle) just have the right balance with the Assetto physics engine. Either way great job!

I found the overall exposure too high too, and the lights too fake for my tastes, so i completely rewrite from scratch (by keeping 2-3 things which are ok) the EXT_CONFIG. I'll send it to @RMi_wood and if he likes it, he can share to the forum, if not i will make as indipendent update for everyone wants it.

I have only to finish the RainFX then is complete

Sorry to be a pest again - Lime Rock. My buttkicker settings work brilliant across most tracks but whenever I end up in the grass it's goes ballistic as if it's going to explode - other grass in other tracks are okay and yeah I know the idea is to keep out of the grass... :D Is there a way to lower grass surfaces so it's calmer

FYI: @Raul_007 (RD) = @racealot (GTP)

When my youngest son (aka @raceabit) approached me earlier today with teary-eyes, and a half-torn heart, to tell me that somebody had blatantly stolen the skin-pack that he had partial input into, I was initially in disbelief...

When are you going to finally realise EASY that your actions (whether intentionally or unintentionally) have deep sentimental consequences to all walks of life??? Children in particular (minors)...

I'm of a mature age so the impact is diminished drastically, and basically it's "water off a duck's back" for me... But now, you have personally impacted on my dearest and greatest admirer... my son!

For the record, I've not received any communication from you, either on RD or GTP requesting permission to amalgamate "our-work" with your latest mod-update, so how dare you!

I've read numerous times on this thread that this is what you do in general, a typical blanket approach...

Where are your personal ethics on this matter? Have you not not been taught properly to converse, share, ask, respect, empathise... etc...

Respectfully, you do not have our permission to include any of our-works with yours - ever! And hope that your blatant robbery of others' works are finally acknowledged by GTP administrators, and that you are subsequently penalised for your numerous breach-of-ethics.

Instead of enjoying this great discovery sim-game on my time off - I now need to mend a broken heart and explain (further educate) to my child that there are heartless offenders out there... Your conduct on this thread is dreadful and ought to be reprimanded, regardless of your contributions.

Could be I forgot to add a hotlap start, hotlap in practice mode until an update, with your suggestions

Thank you.

DiRT3 is a little more kind in the mesh, but not by much. Matching the texture shader tone of the surfaces was one of the things that "brought it together" as well got very lucky on the trees. DiRT3 lacks useable normal maps, so many were created by myself to sharpen the visuals. The driving experience is indeed, wonderful, in part to paying alot of attention to the surfaces definition, which I really strive for in my multi-surface releases. I tried the "dr_" releases and found them to be lacking in many aspects in regards to driving experience. @chiquifreaky's Finland Rally is also quite good and will be the definitive version when finalized (his gravel texture is beautiful). Doing Codies/DiRT* conversions is not easy due to the way the mesh is laid out (there is no "road") but fun and challenging to get to an acceptable level to release publicly.

There are several w.i.p in progress from the whole DiRT series but I will focus on those with mostly tarmac or a hard pack dirt for a broad appeal and vehicle compatibility.

Expect a few more "R.O.C" (uk and spain) and a few Showdown levels to be brought to AC in addition of a few more "rally-trail" ones.
Be sure to check my Patreon (link in my sig) for more tracks from DiRT* and other games

For those GTP members that have fallen prey to this mod-predator I extend my appreciation for your moral support in advance - thank u!

You can tell your son that some of us don't use Easy's mods and prefer to go directly to the source instead (just like we did with a lot of Simdream's mods).

TOPIC: Ice Cold Tires

I often try out new mods and often discover that they have tires that just won't heat up, and in "warm" conditions, no matter what I do, I can't get any heat into them. Some are so bad, that I can have tire blankets selected, and the tires are cold by the time I reach the end of the pit lane. To make sure it's not something I did, messed up a setting, or maybe the track, I immediately test a Kunos car, and the tires perform as I expect.

That doesn't make sense to me, unless tire temperature just isn't that important to several mod creators (or person who "updated" a mod). What really gets me perplexed is when I contact the creator, and they respond with "oh, I don't check tire temperature when I'm testing my mods." One even seemed to be amused by my asking. Another example, I was testing some prototype cars, and the front tires would never heat up. I contacted the creator, and they started an argument with me, that because the front of the car has no weight on it, and it's a prototype, the tires will never warm up. What the..... uh, friction, heat transfer from the road surface, brake radiant heat... what, those don't affect tire temps?

Okay, I'm just "mentioning" this, as it's a problem that just "ruins" some mods for me, as I drive a full lap, push the car hard, then the next tight turn, and the car, with slicks, goes skating off the track.

For sticklers for historical accuracy I have updated the 1969 Le Mans skin I did for Velo's Flunder, based on some photos I found last night showing that the decals were not identical on both sides and a few other points of detail. Here are my two skins in their latest versions. Velo will have included these by now or will do very soon but if you have already downloaded the car you might miss the update. I am planning a full set of 60s Le Mans skins to the same standard of accuracy and might start with 1969 as we have a more or less full grid possible with Simdross grid fillers (Matra, Porsche 910, Alpine etc).

Just sharing another mod-gem that's come across FB...

I almost posted this to this forum yesterday, thinking a few knowledgeable and experienced members could make some improvements (it has a few issues). However, I read the third paragraph, and decided not to. If Dan Bucsa is okay with us working on it, that's great! If not, we'll probably be hearing from him. 🤬

Haven't driven this update version as yet - thought 1st to share it before it unwittingly disappears - for whatever reason... Did try an earlier version and enjoyed it thoroughly - knowing that it may require further intervention...

Here are the last converts in a simple way, and as I said, many errors, but all running on track in the tests. Ferrari Le Mans 1973, generic Monza skins 1973, a Ferrari "fake" Coda-Corta version for the 1973 WSC, Team Alfa at Targa Florio 1972 and 1973, Team Matra at Le Mans 1972, 1973, 1974 and Brands Hatch 1974 , but lacked some versions. I didn't even manage to make the Alpine-Renault, Ligier, Chaparral, Porsche and a few others....we'll see more later.
Sorry, where do we get these?

Just catching up on some unread posts... I can verify that all RSS GT1 mods have working wipers (just tested all 6 cars via CM custom showroom)... Just ensure you have current versions installed...

View attachment 1073035
I verified these the other day as well. Not sure what versions they are using but it most definitely is not the most recent ones. The only issue I have is with the wipers on the saleen, lambo and lister not rotating far enough to completely clean the windshield.

Will give these a test ingame to confirm - stand by...

edit:
Absolutely correct - the three mentioned mods have wipers which do not reach the windscreen edge... Will email RSS to highlight this with the aim of them being updated (whenever)... The more emails they receive supposedly will get their attention to release an update... Suggest to do same...

DiRT Rally - Lydden

config update by @CrisT86 (thanks!)

(Release this now until a more official update is released)
hey, will we be getting more pitboxes for tarmac? The tarmac layout is actually used by car and bike racing quite often, as well as car and bike trackdays, whereas the gravel version is used for rallycross. I've not known a rallycross race to use the full tarmac in years.

The awful version by Giles has 30 pitboxes for tarmac, which is too many. I'd say 20-24.

A bit of an question here why do my rear tires blow out when i'm doing donuts? For some odd reason this happens even when i push the car a bit on sand i give it 100% throttle and again both can blow. Is there anything causing this? suspension.ini maybe? or something with tyres.ini? The car is a pretty heavy AWD car and has a quite a bit of torque so maybe that's causing it?

a virus in a skin? o'rlly?
So you are telling me there is some magical 0day exploit affecting .zip, ,rar, .7z,.json, .png or .dds being exploited in the wild?

A load of BS is what it is.

Unless the skins were packaged as an exe... there never was any "virus" in a skin.
never... ever... not once.
I hear you and understand clearly... What if though, a skin folder containing an INI file with not so much a virus, but code that when applied does some type of damage to the users' system... say a command-line to manipulate/alter internal settings - like disabling AV software, altering the registry, allowing a backdoor to open for an attack - just thinking outside the box... Could this be a possibility?

Hey guys, does anyone know if there is a better road mesh for Oulton Park? I know Oulton is bumpy in real life but reboot's version redefines the word bumpy. It feels like doing the Acropolis Rally Greece twice in one lap. I saw one posted a while ago but it was messed up and it didn't work (car fell down from the map). Can anyone of you share if you guys have something better than the original road mesh?
