It is so pathetic to whine about paid mods. Bought just a new aircraft from sales to DCS, it cost 67 dollars. I totally agree that a little support to quality makes our future better.
Who whined? Where?
Nothing wrong with pay mods, spent a fortune on MSFS already.

But on here knowing how many get them for nothing makes it an easier choice once you find where they get them from...
Its hard to pay for something when you know others are filling their boots.

Sorry for the question guys but this thing it's triggering me.
Me and a friend of mine have done exactly the same things for Content Manager (paid version both of us), developer mode (both of us) and have the preview version of CSP but he doesn't have the box with the extended physics (but I have it). I don't know if I've done something in the settings to have it but I don't understand what it could be

In Settings > Content Manager > Drive under Quick Drive there is an option at the end to allow patch car data for extended physics. Check that

of course, but when it is specifically written that a skin is not to be converted without permission then people go ahead and do that anyway. this goes back to my point of people here just doing what they like when working on mods without even bothering to ask modders for permissions.
I certainly wouldnt' be happy to see my skins get stolen and used on a guerilla mod for example (which may or may not have happened anyway)
There is a difference though between modifying something for your own use and distributing the product without permission, is there not?!

Skin is available, someone else has converted the model, if you do it yourself where is the harm - I could understand if Guerilla just added skins from RD to their next release or something but just telling others it works seems ok to me...someone had an idea and share just that.

We also saw some ACC skins at RD that would have been suitable for our GT4 cars, but we also asked the respective authors. We wrote to some skinners at RD, from whom we wanted to take their skins for our GT4 cars. Some wrote back to us and others did not reply. So we didn't use any skins without asking for permission beforehand.

Thanks for the link. I'm hesitant to update the older EGT cars though because I hope it doesn't make the cars as easy to drive as their latest releases. Seems like their new Vette and Bayro are just glued to the track compared to their old EGT cars that I drive all the time. Guess I can always make backups first to be safe.

BTW, any way to know if I have the latest version of some of the older EGT cars? I have V11 of the Bayro_2018 and V16 of the Detroit_2018 but only V1 of the AMR_2019. Is there a newer version of the AMR I should have?
You could always make a duplicate copy of each of the updated cars. Just make sure the folder, .kn5 and soundbank names match (although the kn5 might be overkill), and update the GUID, and you’ll have two cars for the price of one, suited to racing in different company.

Yeah but that's redistributing someone else's work, the action in question here is literally opening an image file and saving it as a different format, and dropping it into AC instead of ACC. All done by the user, on their own machine. It's not distributing, etc. Distributing should definitely require permission if the author calls for it, but downloading, opening, clicking save as? I don't see what permission needs to be asked for there. And I guess the guy I was originally responding to changed their mind because their post now just says "deleted."
This is something that I've actually dealt with recently after designing the 2021 Spa 24 HR livery for Inception Racing for my brother (who drove the car). I uploaded it to RD for everyone to enjoy and not an hour later i received a message from an RD member asking if he can convert it to AC and repost. It was nice not just having the work swept out from under me (I put a lot of hours into that livery) so I said go ahead.

I say if it's going to be publicly reposted for others to have, permission would be nice. Personal use, I don't see any issue with people just converting it. Either way, there's no real enforceable rule so it's all going to be based upon what that particular person feels is right or not.

That's what it comes down to morals. And everyone has different points of too far

Do you think the people who made those skins want to see them used on cars they are not intended for. I doubt that very much. Perhaps GTP would like to just keep things private instead of sharing pics and images of their findings.

Also the Driverse skin that @browser has used specifically states in the description not to be converted to other sims but i'm not surprised that that would go ignored
See my updated disclaimer... Seriously, not sure why I bother to share discoveries on here. I guess it's my nature to share. Getting annoying to continue to do when every one (car or otherwise) is being scrutinized and criticized to the n-th degree.

Hmmm, I can simply put my RSR AMS2 skin on your URD RSR template. Did u copy and paste your mod from AMS2 and sell it to us? Oh, Oh, Ooooh
Lmao did it not come to your mind that maybe just maybe URD was contacted to make the model for AMS2?
And both games require very different preparation in their models which were originally scratch-made which takes time and effort.

on a side note has anyone ripped this model from ams 2?

I suppose ALL vanilla AMS2 models are encrypted like I read all around the web long time ago, so I guess we wouldn't see that magnificently banned F1 fan car alongside Metalmoros, rallycross cars and all the exclusive rest from it in AC for a long time really.
