Thanks for the link. I'm hesitant to update the older EGT cars though because I hope it doesn't make the cars as easy to drive as their latest releases. Seems like their new Vette and Bayro are just glued to the track compared to their old EGT cars that I drive all the time. Guess I can always make backups first to be safe.
Yeah I think the tires on the new cars are a lot grippier than the KS tires, trying to drive push the updated 2018 visual KS car was pretty edgy and still miles off the new URD time....but the KS cars are also much harder to seperate from GT3 time in most cases...

Philosophically I am more ok with the race car being "better" since tires are constantly improving, I'd buy that result more than someone puts out a street cars that pulls 2G and glues to the road, that seems much more "boring" to me...

The point is, if someone uses a game pad why does it bother them so much if someone who uses a wheel says that is the best way to play.
Surely if you are happy with a game pad then that is your best way to play....
It's almost like game pad users would like a wheel but can't get one.
Trying to convince a wheel user that a gamepad is worth switiching to, is like convincing someone in a car that buses are a great way to travel...

Community Announcement: For those of you who may not be aware, you can use any ACC skins available on RD for ACC cars in AC.
Took me 15 seconds to add this skin to the AC car. There are 1000's and they are updated with just about every Sprint or Endurance race.

Just copy an existing skin from the ACC car in AC to new skins directory. Open skin.rar file downloaded from RD and navigate to customer/livery directory, open both the decals and sponsors files into a paint program and save as the AC car skin file - done!

This is another reason i come on here, as soon as these pop up i'm over to that 'other' forum, which i found thanks to people on here, and grab it....
Can't wait to give it a blast.

I dont think anyone was trying to convince you to switch. just telling you why they do it

Without any permission of the original author.......
How are permissions on publicly published skins any concern here? Dont understand your attempt at a point here at all. These skins are publicly published on RD. Please dont try to start drama. There is none to see here. Use if helpful, else move on please.

Even tho there's one GT3 car from ACC with a small issue being the 488 GT3 2020 officially converted from Kunos themselves, since some parts of it tend to be very dark like its spoiler and canards for example and that almost all of their numberplates aren't actually included with each skin apparently.

AC is a driving simulator and not a racing simulator. The simulation for races in AC is a joke. It can't even do formation lap or even rolling start. The reason people are making free roams, road cars is that is what people want, yet none of the "sim" dev takes it seriously other than Playground Games with Forza Horizon. Racing has been done for decades and we have mastered the racing part of the game over a decade ago. What we want are 1:1 hyper-realistic roads to drive our highly detailed virtual cars on with accurate physics.
Well, AC can't do night races either. But that doesn't bother me at all when we have Sol and CSP.
The same applies to rolling starts, because AC can do those with OSRW. Only in online races though, afaik, but offline races in AC are only for masochists anyway.

Yeah I think the tires on the new cars are a lot grippier than the KS tires, trying to drive push the updated 2018 visual KS car was pretty edgy and still miles off the new URD time....but the KS cars are also much harder to separate from GT3 time in most cases...

Philosophically I am more ok with the race car being "better" since tires are constantly improving, I'd buy that result more than someone puts out a street cars that pulls 2G and glues to the road, that seems much more "boring" to me...
IMO, boring would be a good way to describe driving their latest cars. I am a horrible driver and even I seem to be able to whip their new cars around the track without any fear of losing it. I think they look fine. I just wish they were a little more challenging to drive like the older EGT cars.

Question: does anybody have a clue about the origin of this rather nice BMW M135i Cup (though it seems to be a bit too fast)...

Hi @Fanapryde
I think the original mod is from 301RACING.

They released a mild tuned M135i which is really fun to drive (much more than this CUP version)

This cup version has a serious over weight issue and the suspension setup/geometry is not good.

In other hand, would be nice a racing stripped interior.

Do you think the people who made those skins want to see them used on cars they are not intended for. I doubt that very much. Perhaps GTP would like to just keep things private instead of sharing pics and images of their findings.
I mean, I make mods and I don't care what people do with mine as long as they don't sell it. I don't see the issue at all.

So word is that Nascar Ignition 21 is not even encrypted

There is screenshot that was quickly deleted with roval opened in 3dsimed.

Champions edition is already out btw

Game files are gmt.

Next question are the tracks in ignition 21 laser scanned?

Hi, I think you may be lost. This is the Assetto Corsa discussion forum.

of course, but when it is specifically written that a skin is not to be converted without permission then people go ahead and do that anyway. this goes back to my point of people here just doing what they like when working on mods without even bothering to ask modders for permissions.
I certainly wouldnt' be happy to see my skins get stolen and used on a guerilla mod for example (which may or may not have happened anyway)
I personally think as long as it's for personal use only I think there is no real issue. It's when we get into sharing it as our own is when it's bad (this includes sharing images of it or videos using it). And that is my 2 pennies worth. No more on this issue from me.

Yeah but that's redistributing someone else's work, the action in question here is literally opening an image file and saving it as a different format, and dropping it into AC instead of ACC. All done by the user, on their own machine. It's not distributing, etc. Distributing should definitely require permission if the author calls for it, but downloading, opening, clicking save as? I don't see what permission needs to be asked for there. And I guess the guy I was originally responding to changed their mind because their post now just says "deleted."

It's relevant because it's mentioning that the track models in the game aren't encrypted and could fairly easily be converted to AC track and car mods.
Correct.

There is no laser scanned version of COTA / Charlotte Roval / Daytona Roval / Indianapolis Road Course / Sonoma for AC. If Ignition did indeed use laser scanning would be nice to have in AC.

Considering Reboot team has taken several ACC tracks to AC.

If there is possibility here I don't see why not. Nobody here seems to care/police for ACC to AC conversion or rf2 to AC.

There is already rf2 to ac ports on unlocked tracks so someone could easily do it. It has been done before.

That's interesting, always wanted a good looking Charlotte Roval for AC, it's one of my favorite tracks in the NASCAR schedule, wonder how it'll pair up with the one converted by DamoneX from a previous Nascar game... (Heat I believe)

It isn't easy in most cases of Unreal engine games.
With the tracks from ACC all the objects like the road, grass, pitlane building, trees, etc are all in position as they would be in the real track so there is no need to spend time searching and placing individual objects using references to do so.

In games like Moto GP 21 and Hotwheels unleashed, different categories of objects are all separate hence must be manually placed. For example with the Moto GP extraction the road, and the track side objects are all positioned independently to each other so you need proper references to line everything up.

At the end of the day it depends on how much effort the modder wants to put in.

Won't even be close tbh.

This looks laser scanned.

Also the fact that files are gmt to me is good sign that rf2 format.

But lets see what others that know rf2 conversions to ac will say.

Anyways if this is beyond of this forum lets not talk about it anymore.
Screenshot I saw was interesting so who knows what comes of this.

Well yeah, it isn't as easy as it's claimed to be. ACC and AC use a different system to get carbon detail so you will have to select and alpha it out yourself. In addition to this, you will have to make your own number plates and the UI file which doesn't come with the download from ACC. Then after that, you will also have to work out the LED stripes and get them to light up according to their IRL counterparts for entire accuracy.

Of course, this work is nothing compared to the actual work that goes into making the actual skin which many don't seem to realize and appreciate ¯\(ツ)/¯ .
