Hi there are some mods that I cant play with. I´ve been checking the log file and this appears:

I've noticed that tutorials usually assume the modder's using 3DSMax, but I can't get a student license because, well, I'm not a student (I assume they check for these things). Is Blender similar enough?
You can still have 3DS Max free for 15 or 30 days, if it doesn't work the student license.
Blender shouldn't be much different... but I never used it.

@Stupornaut
I can help You with that to an extent...

give me a second to dig out the stuff, and I'll send You the thing per pm.

anyway:
1. you need obviously 3dsimed
2. photoshop with a dds plugin
3. quickbms with plugins that you need to decrypt some stuff
4.time and inspiration

- I'd suggest starting with editing a few existing mods for ac to see the material proprieties like shading used for different parts, etc.
- parts naming are essential when converting, to AC, so the game engine recognizes them. )like wheels, suspensions, windows, etc...

a side note on the tools:

- Photoshop is a top software, worth every penny you spend on it
- 3DSimed is a very rudimental software full of bugs (but using it you learn how to avoid the bugs) ...not worth the money they ask for it, but essential to do conversions... you can model with it, but at a very basic level.
- quickbms is a "hacking tool", so be aware where you are heading.

After few weeks of fiddling with existing mods, you should be able to convert your first car.
Do do a proper physics for your model, you should know a few things about mechanics and physics...

TO do a proper conversion with lods and animations you will need a bit longer.

Check Your pm.

Thank you and @delpinsky for sharing such information!

I have an issue with my first conversion lesson :-(
I just cannot make the wheels of a model be recognized after conversion :-(

How does AC work - is it the exact naming and layer tree organization of objects to make AC recognize which object is a wheel and recognize it?

I am considering buying either the DRM Revival Mod, or the RSS GT Pack and cannot decide. :nervous:

The DRM mod is not technically as refined as the RSS GT1 mod (which really can be considered a true benchmark in that regard).

BUT: The DRM Revival mod has given me MUCH MORE pleasure since its release than ANY mod (the fact that I am nuts for Porsche and the Porsche 935 K3 is among my favorite cars of all time plays a big roll here).

Simple:
If you are into modern GT cars, the RSS GT1 mod is gold.

If you are into vintage cars, wild, highly overpowered, lively cars on sketchy tires and you do not get distracted by the little imperfections, the DRM Revival mod is the last mod you ever buy.

For me if I had to give up ALL AC mods but keep only one I would not have to think twice to keep the DRM Revival mod, just to be able to race Porsche 935 K3.

As you can see, every WHEEL dummy must contain also the RIM and the RIM BLUR dummies.

Never forget to "align" the dummies to the wheel parts accordingly, before moving the objects in their dummies.
Once you align i.e. the dummy "WHEEL_LF" to the wheel LF object, you can then move the object into the dummy.
This is how AC recognizes car parts. Dummies are the "keys".

If you follow their pdf, you will understand a lot... and save time in trial and errors.

I must have missed out on something ?
Is there a better Shelby Daytona than the AC Legends version I have been using for years now ?
As single vintage racing model, it's not "AC legends" release in roots of "history".
Car was included in bundle without permission or any asking with very few visual changes (like tires textures and something), but release was by AssettoDrive. Time ago it was cheched for matches and it's 101% true info.
... :gtpflag:

I'll definitely get it too down the line. RSS GT was worth it for the sound alone, my glob.:drool::drool::drool::drool::drool::drool:

Yes, Blender is fine, but tutorials for modding are all based on 3DS Max...

Anyway, since you want to convert a car from gtl, there is actually no need of any 3D software (I am saying that, because it will take ages to get your first car if you have to learn to use Blender from zero)
The model is already done for gtl, so all that you need are the tools to convert it.
If you miss any objects like switches, discs, calipers and things, "borrow" it from models that fit your car and idea...

Of course, the right thing to do would be to import the car in blender or 3DSMax, and do your things there, but since you don't know how to use it, there are other ways...
You will miss animated wipers and rain drops if you can't find a car that fits the exact dimensions of your gtl model, but at least you will have your car up and running in AC ... than later you can invest some more time to fix the things that are not so essential.

If RTM can do it, You can do it too :D

Well, after stepping in from the very first beginning I now shelved ACC.
No proper triple screen support, looking worse than before 1.0.
On my system not even close to AC, that (with support from CM/CSP/SOL and the modding community) has much more (real) potential than that 🤬🤬🤬 Unreal Engine...:irked:

Chill dude relax maybe kunos will update it somehow and fix everything
I don't need to chill. I'm disappointed, that's all. It was very promising and it turned out bad.
After all this time in EA, this was supposed to be the final release (which should be OK bar a few minor bugs) right ?
Well, read the comments, if you think I am the only one complaining.
The choice for UE was bad and I think they now that for a while, but there was no going back...

Yeah, an update will fix it all
Shelved ACC too. Its beyond a patch or two, they took 19 steps back with 1.0
Just to get it back to square one is endless patches. Then more patches for improvements, not just to get it back to square one.

There's hundreds of complaints for those that even got in early and now look at their screens wondering, what went so wrong.
If I was an early buy in, I'd be pissed.

Take one, only one example. FPS cut in half from 0.7 to 1.0, uhh yeah, they're way behind the eight ball now. And MP completely broken with tons of people getting fatal error UE failure.

Hi there my friends,

Can somebody upload the gt1 car pack for me.. i have deleted them by mistake.

Tnx.

Keep up the good work guys you ROCK!!

Even dough I am enjoying ACC, I understand how you and many other are frustrated with 1.0. We all rightfully expected 1.0 to be a clear step forward from 0.7.2 and Kunos did not deliver.
I too got worst graphics for a while in VR, as some settings changed. After a few adjustment, it is now back to what it was, which I like, but 1.0 VR is not better than 0.7.2 VR, which is not optimum.
The situation for triple screen is worst as there is no triple screen solution beside stretching and distorting the graphic which makes zero sense.
Add to that a ton of bugs of all sorts it is a sane reaction to feel very disappointed and wanting to shelve the game. Who needs the aggravation?
I fully appreciate that I am one of the lucky one who are enjoying ACC, the driving, to me, is very special and the graphic, to me, are so natural, that it is a real treat. I just hope than more of my friends could also share my ACC experience.
