Here's an update to my Gothenburg track, just a bit of tidying up with the addition of RainFX and a few missing normal maps.

I've always said my mods are not for everyone. If the track looked on my end the way it does on your end then I wouldn't have to waste my time on making changes. Unfortunately, most tracks look nuclear for me with the CSP configs. That's why I always have to make changes. Honestly, when I see a pic like yours, I can never understand why everything is so nuclear for me. I can adjust my gamma and exposure settings to make the trees and grass darker, but that also impacts the ambient light and then day time looks too dark ambient wise. I just find it easier to make a track mod and then share it in case anyone else has the same problem I have.
Maybe updating to the latest Pure, CSP and using a good pp filter would be a good start. We can chat in PM if you need some tips or hints, if you like. :)

Possibly, but this has been a problem going back to before Pure even existed. I had the same problem with Sol. And not to sound arrogant, but i've tried just about every ppfilter there is and none of them give me the same realistic look and feel that my own personal ppfilter does. So in my eyes, mine is a 'good' filter. The only other one I have kept out of all the ones I've tried is @Amby PureLIFE filters. They are a nice alternative to my own because they have similar lighting to my own but offer a nice change of pace to the ambient feel compared to mine. Mine tend to have a warmer feel, his has a nice cool feel.

But I do appreciate the offer to help. Maybe some day when I get tired of doing track mods, i'll take you up on the offer. For now i'm happy wasting my time changing the tracks to fit my needs. I'm just an old man with lots of time to kill.

...a lot of car skins coming bundled with a car extension folder, nowadays.
How this Nth AC complication make you guys feel?

Overwriting the extension folder each time? (oh my)
Blinding your self by checking every line of code?
Deleting it and not giving a damn?

It makes me hope AC2 isn't moddable, don't ban me 😂

When I see them I faint and when I create them I feel guilty :boggled:

I don't think, that you are wasting your time. As I'm using your version of Spa 1966 for a long time now, I also compared your versions of Goodwood, Kyalami 1976 and Le Mans 1967 with the original versions of these tracks some days ago. Your versions of the tracks just look better and I'm using them now instead of the original versions. I'm playing in VR with Sol and the standard Sol PP filter.

AC2 will be moddable, as long as Kunos want 10 yrs of easy income like AC managed to realize.
If they're smart they will use/make a graphic engine that will last awhile, a decent AI and a mature set of racing rules.

And just give us a taste by giving us few cars in each racing category so that modding will have a top techno base to work on every other car in the world. And let's hope they will fit go-karts and few other weird thingies, take care about jumps and racing on dirty surfaces.

Other less than that is fail, other more is gravy.

You're right about that and I agree. But sometimes I miss being able to start a title without thinking about the thousand factors that could create various types of problems. Obviously being moddable infinitely broadens the horizons of a title, AC1 is more alive than ever after about 10 years. Well, maybe sometimes there's a lack of peace of mind for me, that's all.

Any advice for removing that blocking advertisement , my Adguard is not working anymore at the Overtake site.

Just notice there seems to be no free registration option even if you click signup with basic account at the bottom of the page.

Will suck if you have to pay because I can't download anything without being logged in.

In a strange turn of events I reinstalled SOL back again today along side Pure 0.238 because I felt the clouds and the way the sky looked better using SOL planner than in pure. However I am sure you can customize these things just never tried to go in depth
with all the advanced settings Pure has to offer I am sure it can achieve much more that what I use it for.

Here is my latest test using SOL for weather instead of pure. Set video playback quality to 1080p for best visuals.

Look at the Sky here using SOL planner it looks realistic. For some reason I can't get the same cloud look with pure planner.

The-King, I actually think I found SOL's clouds more appealing as well. Especially the ones where the weather would start to move towards storm. @Peter Boese , is it possible to use your old SOL sky/clouds in Pure?

I was looking to download the old SOL to check how clouds were implemented and I noticed the Racedepartment change you guys have mentioned. My old RD login won't work? What about the mods we made and shared on the old RD, are they still there? I don't like change, stubborn old man here.

For some reason my password was not working but did a password reset and everything is still there including my old posts and seems all downloads are also fine as well. Just that they have new links so all old RD download links will not work AFAIK.

I just checked by clicking a hyperlink from Breathe's track list and the Race Department link auto forwarded to Overtake, so all links should be fine for now.

Hey guys, I'm running out of space and I'm thinking about doing the Content Manager compression thing. Any reason I would not want to do that? Is it still easy to just go into a track folder and modify, for example, the ui_track.json, modify a skin texture, etc. Or after I compress will it be difficult to make changes. What issues might I run into? Who has done this?

Perfect, thanks man.

Do it. No downside besides you'll have to do it more often afterwards (every few months on my end). Which is normal, cause you'll have more content on a disk that the disk can handle uncompressed. You understand how it works? It compresses everything, but when you again use something (track, car) it uncompressed that part. So in theory when you use every car and every track, everything is uncompressed again.

It takes a couple of hours though. So do it when you don't plan on using the computer.

But do it, it can save up to 50% of space.

I’m using the Ipad, the whole problem there is no Ublock in the appstore, I guess all the Android users will probably face the same blockage. Adguard was always working nice at this irritating aspect, guess I have now always be logout and only for downloading I do the login.

Solved, the whole trick for my iPad, to removing that always showed red popup advertising is not by using an ad-removal software, but use a privacy browsers. Right now I’m using Opera, but I think using another privacy browsers like Brave or Tor will do exactly the same.

stunning work as always peter, if this will be good in general, it will be game changer for rally and hillclimb stage, and it could be even more if it was possible to make it depend on the elevation like someone else mentioned
I'm currently working on an editor to customize the shader for the tracks. By default it modulates the effect via altitude and randomness. But in the final version there will be an editor in Pure Conifg to edit and manage this effect ingame and

Actually all stayed the same on Overtake. Just another name on the surface.

About the clouds, no, the Sol clouds are not compatible with Pure. Pure also have a 3d clouds option. You can set this in Pure Config clouds tab. But the decision was to focus on skydomes, because those saving the most fps for other things in AC now. And imo they look much better than those billboard clouds.

Get Notepad++ and add the compare plugin under the plugins menu. It will enable you to compare two files and show you the differences. If the files are similar the differences or additions really stand out.

Just a screenshot from mine to show how a pp filter can make a difference. Did not download or install your mod yet but used 3d trees.

And this is with your mod enabled but no skins used so far.

Just for context, I'm on the latest Pure and CSP and I really appreciate the updates, so it's not even that simple - all down to settings. There was a nice spring skin for Monza 66 I've been using but this gives a really night high summer effect and glad to have the choice, thanks again!

Don't forget to implement a function to add to AC2 the zillion of AC1 cars and tracks hoarded over the years, with a simple click of a button.
