He did last year ! It's the iDT Indycar 1994 - 1995 mod for rfactor (I think). Another iDT masterclass
100% correct. There is actually more than one conversion of the 1995 cars floating around, some better than others. Legion's is probably the best version of it (although I found a odd bug in the rear diffuser aero settings which I corrected for my mod). Strangely enough nobody has converted the 1994 cars, which I plan to do. Maybe cos Penske mopped the floor with everyone that year.

Personally I tend to stay away from their “creations”, although I admit that I have used them on occasion when I have had no other option.

When I started with this sim thing (not knowing how this person worked) I downloaded some of his "improvements" which, ok, were mainly adding lods and some data, but it almost always worsened the visual quality of the mod used as a base, as if he was trying to create smaller files that would work on potato PCs, I guess. But to create visually spectacular and fps-friendly mods, you need knowledge that it seems he didn't have.... I don't know if he has improved over time.
I don't think it's just a question of quality but of work logic. When you create something you always have to take stock, choose the lesser evil in a certain sense. I'm still a novice at this, I know, but I've learned the hard way that certain things need to be done with care and attention. We often make the mistake of looking at the car very closely, in detail, when then while driving you see 20% of the total. What I said does not imply that your point is wrong, on the contrary, butchering a mod is not something to do, but if improvements really need to be made at least they should be done with criteria. For example, eliminating the wheel blur (1 object and a few triangles) because the texture is not the best and keeping the entire rim four times is a bit "strange" (* cough cough * 😂 ). But in the end everyone has their own vision of things. :D

I have converted those (see my other post, they have all skins from 1992 to 1994), the Penske is the same model, only the Reynards and Lola changed - if you want them... :D

Why haven't you released them, the 1994 cars at least? Doug at IDT can be a bit touchy but he seems to be giving permissions.

Introducing the CART 1990 season for Assetto Corsa!

The season saw Al Unser Jr take his first title and Arie Luyendyk win the fastest Indy 500 at the time, a record that stood for another 23 years!

Mod features:
  • 5 different chassis, 6 different engines with relevant powers.
  • 19 different chassis and engines configurations including oval and road course versions of each chassis.
  • All entries from every round of the series, a total of 88 skins. Many new skins added to the original rF1 mod.
  • Grid sets for each round of the championship, just select the grid and go!

Many thanks to rFactor Pure Formula ONE who were very kind to allow me to convert their 1990 CART mod to Assetto Corsa, and to G0D for allowing the use of his sounds and physics.

Epic! Now we got a boatload of inspiration for creators to potentially cover the entire Indycar history in AC. Will you plan to convert rFactorpure's Extra World Championship mod to AC?

Yeah its on the to do list, along with a number of other mods. rFactorPure have given me permission to convert their stuff but the list is long on a number of mod requests.

Ive had a crack at another Ralt NZ Formula Atlantic adapted to fit the Legion/Lorelord Ralt RT3.
This one, Craig Baird's car. I believe this was his first wings and slicks car. After this car he went into Swifts and Reynards where he won the NZ Grand Prix 3 years in a row, before attempting F3000 in a Dome. Later went on to become the most winning Porsche GT3 driver world wide. Now is the driver standards observer for Supercars in Aus.

The Ralt Rt4 is the one car Craig has gone on record saying he loves the most and would love to drive again.

Anyway, here is my attempt, based off the only photo of the car I could find, also attached to compare. If I can get more photos from Craig I will update it, though limited due to the wrong car and the air intake not being able to be painted. To have a silver roll bar changes the exhaust and airbox to silver also. Would be nice if the airbox, rollbar and exhaust could be remapped to seperate textures.

I've got the 1994s converted. Just needs the suspension/steering animations worked out. Even got an extension that replaces the front wing on Boesel's car.

Let me know if you'd like to pick up where I've left off.

Well I don't know now. The mod is getting absolutely slaughtered by people on Overtake. Apparently I'm a lot further from "the standard" than I thought. 🤦‍♂️ I can see why a lot of you have converted but never released stuff.

Don't beat yourself up - this is a massive undertaking. Maybe a few of us could team up to work through the 1990 issues?

Chin up Saffer.
The negs have 0 mods posted between them , so "too many critics with no credentials".
And the permissions -anorak that parachuted in esp to scold you, is clearly a professional whinger.

I'd pay little heed to reviews over there, for the most part the people who tend to post reviews over there are all "demand demand demand" rather than anything resembling constructive (criticism or not). Personally have had lots of fun with the pack and only ran a 10 lap race at IMS so far! so thank you very much for offering it up for all of us.

Yes perhaps something that should be teamed up on. Especially as I was looking into modelling the missing chassis and already have a bit of info on them.

Yeah I saw something the other day on a track skin, the review said nothing about the work the guy did with the textures, just complained about track layout issues. Dude, shut up, the upload had nothing to do with geometry, it was clearly listed as texture work. What was it mum said, if you haven't got anything nice to say, say nothing.

The aforementioned suspension problem + scared of the reviews lol
Think its simple isn't it, seeing as GTP has its own download section, everyone here who releases stuff should do so here and leave Overtake/RD to whinge and moan about other things. If people cannot be nice or at least give constructive criticism then they should lose the access to mods.

Oh I get you now, don't worry! 🤣

Sorry guys, didn't mean to have a whine but just a bit taken aback by some things, but its been a long road to get to this point and the only way is up.
Unfortunately I think its just a reflection on the state of society.
You would of thought after Covid and everything we all had to go through people would be nicer these days but it seems to be the opposite. In my experiences, online and offline, people have become more selfish.

Yet another reason, if there was one needed, to upload mods to GTPlanet...

Yet another reason, if there was one needed, to upload mods to GTPlanet...
I'd normally add "....don't forget faster download speeds and a more reliable connection too" but I've had three or four attempts today to download the Acapone update from GTP and all crawled at a snail's pace to about halfway before disconnecting.
Temporary issues perhaps?
