Don't beat yourself up - this is a massive undertaking. Maybe a few of us could team up to work through the 1990 issues?
Yes perhaps something that should be teamed up on. Especially as I was looking into modelling the missing chassis and already have a bit of info on them.

Yeah I saw something the other day on a track skin, the review said nothing about the work the guy did with the textures, just complained about track layout issues. Dude, shut up, the upload had nothing to do with geometry, it was clearly listed as texture work. What was it mum said, if you haven't got anything nice to say, say nothing.

The aforementioned suspension problem + scared of the reviews lol
Think its simple isn't it, seeing as GTP has its own download section, everyone here who releases stuff should do so here and leave Overtake/RD to whinge and moan about other things. If people cannot be nice or at least give constructive criticism then they should lose the access to mods.

Oh I get you now, don't worry! 🤣

Sorry guys, didn't mean to have a whine but just a bit taken aback by some things, but its been a long road to get to this point and the only way is up.
Unfortunately I think its just a reflection on the state of society.
You would of thought after Covid and everything we all had to go through people would be nicer these days but it seems to be the opposite. In my experiences, online and offline, people have become more selfish.

Yet another reason, if there was one needed, to upload mods to GTPlanet...
I'd normally add "....don't forget faster download speeds and a more reliable connection too" but I've had three or four attempts today to download the Acapone update from GTP and all crawled at a snail's pace to about halfway before disconnecting.
Temporary issues perhaps?

I've just checked and got the file (the one at the top of page 4416?) in just about 16s, at an average of 8.5MB/s.

As my home connection should peak at 8.75MB/s (70Mbps), that seems okay to me.

I'll check again at a random time later, but could there be some local hiccups?

Edit: Just checked a different file and got around the same:

annoying omission)))

Well I don't know now. The mod is getting absolutely slaughtered by people on Overtake. Apparently I'm a lot further from "the standard" than I thought. 🤦‍♂️ I can see why a lot of you have converted but never released stuff.
Sorry but, Please take this a constructive criticism, There is a lot of issues with your mod in general. 3D exterior wise it's fine. But as multiple people pointed out on Overtake (and from the reviews that are on the site) all cars re-use the same engine. Which we all know was not the case irl. Ontop of that it's an V8 twin turbo engine? idk how much you know about 3D stuff (i don't know much) but T10 have an 1990's Indy car 3D model you can steal the engine from, Specifically the Lola T90 Chevy variant. At least that way you have an accurate engine to use, this also includes textures and wheels. (Edit: Just realized that the Lola T90 is only available on FM6 and not FM7. So the model has not been extracted and probably never will so forget this part)

The window is also not transparent? and a good chunk of the interior honestly look like they were made by melted cheese. The LCD display could use some fixing also, and those tire textures looks really bad, I'm pretty sure there are free 3D textures available on Overtake that you can use that fits these cars.

The car audio could also either use an replacement, or find a better sample (i switched to VRC's)

In my honest opinion this mod needs work, and should have had some more time spent in the oven. I can assure you that asking around for texture work from people isn't bad. or asking for help in general. This is after all a mod that can be easily improved upon, and i most certainly hope that you are taking valid criticism serious and do end up updating this mod and not leave it as 1.0

Someone else on overtake also mentioned car performance all being the same but i'm going to tally that down to keeping it simple and making sure all cars are fairly balanced etc.

Cool, thanks - I'll try again later. GTP speeds are normally pretty good. I checked my connection speed each time and was getting around 40MB/s on Speedtest, so I'm guessing there was some blockage in the pipe at the time.

Quick questions for my fellow racers:
Why does AC sometimes just ignore the names which are attached in skins folder?
For example I have the Ferrari 642 from ASR, with Jean Alesi and Alain Prost as drivers?
But AC decides to pull out some imaginary Finnish or Japanese name to replace them... (no disrespect to the Finnish or Japanese of course... ;))

How/Why does that happen? And more importantly: How can I stop that?

Check the ui_skin.json and see if there is anything missing?

Thanks for this feedback. This is very constructive and useful, especially the screenshots as a few of these issues didn't appear on my PC or someone else who tested it. The dash issue is definitely fixable, strange that the previous solution worked for some and not others, but not hard to fix for everyone. Same as the windscreen, so I'll look at possible causes there. The "melted cheese" yeah that was probably me being too keen on the normal maps, so I can reduce that. Physics were the same on all cars to keep it simple, but engine powers were different, but I forgot to update the CM graph. Anyway, there are things I will definitely work through from you and others.

I'm enjoying it! Don't give up. If people have issues with a mod, they can gain the knowledge and fix it themselves and help out. You can't be expected to compete with big mod teams when it's just you. I appreciate your efforts and your willingness to share.

Fingers crossed, his Mount Tempus project looked amazing.
Yep, Mount Tempus looks absolutely amazing, I keep going back to 00's vids every so often to check on any progress.

Their "inactivity" just seems to stem from the fact that they are a single person that is extremely meticulous and has multiple different projects running at the same time - in that respect their method is quite similar to that of FatAlfie or Italotracks. In the mean we must remain patient and do a few loop-the-loops on Tucuru... 00 is clearly very passionate about their work, and I'm sure that we will see some developments quite soon.

The way people complain about issues in mods drives me bonkers, they act like they are owed something but actually they should just be grateful someone has taken up the job of making or converting something and giving it for free.
If it was a paid mode like RSS, URD, etc and there were issues, then fine complain but climb down off your horse when it comes to free mods.

This only should happen, if a car has only two skins (with Jean Alesi and Alain Prost as drivers) and you use the car more than two times in a race grid. Then two cars will have the original driver names and the rest will have fictional names. Or you have more skins, but some skins use the same driver names, e.g. different versions of a skin all with Jean Alesi and Alain Prost as drivers.

Good evening everyone!
I'm new here and was wondering if anyone had any information on the 1979/1985/1989 F1 championship mods.
Thank you very much!
