Been running these changes for a few days already, and I feel there's nothing much else to fix. No screenshots this time because I'm lazy :P

Basically, the majority of the fixes are on the driver3d.ini and ksanim files, while the SNX needs a massive rework and this is just a bandaid for it. Everything else in the data.acd of each car is untouched in its encrypted-ness. Please make backups in case something messes up.

URD JT5 Moyoda:

  1. Updated steer.ksanim and data.acd file
  2. Updated textures for the rearview LCD screen
URD JT5 Shiro:

  1. Updated steer.ksanim and data.acd file
URD JT5 SNX:

  1. Updated steer.ksanim and data.acd file
  2. PBR updates
  3. Updated interior textures (the UV map is so messed up)
  4. Rearview LCD screen brand and model texture update
  5. Rollcage is now black as it should
  6. Steering button labels
  7. New pipe texture and normals
  8. New AO and Map texture
Happy to report that nothing messed up. SNX changes might be a bandaid, but make a significant improvement in my enjoyment. That weirdly lit roll-cage was... odd. Thanks!

Unrelated, the 1970s Daytona available on RD is becoming better and better, and is a TRIP in a 917.

And now to the promised update massacre!

I finished the testing of the Modern Day Racing Series and that's what had to be changed to make it enjoyable + some more fixes. Happy downloading! Greetings to Breathe :-)

if I can ask, should these AI lines work fine with F1 70's cars too, or are just for modern cars ?

Now lets get back to this one :)

But if you really want a car, like the Renault 19, you can search at first for a better 3d model, before you invest a lot of time on a low poly model. Maybe there exists a better 3d model street version car, but as base to work with, a lot better as the low poly model. Then rework the car to the race version.
And as Greg_ST already said, it's a good start to learn a lot about modding and how it works.
I learned a lot while i was working on the Mantis and Vertigo. But it's a long way, so you need perseverance and ambition. And AC modding needs strong nerves.😅
yes i have seen this alot in AC where a road car is repurposed and made into the race version of that make/model i had my suspicion that was why i seen this as regular thing and i can understand why that is the easiest option, why struggle with a bad base when you can get a good base. i did actually see someone try to rework all these lower poly models and judging by the updates to it they kind of gave up as far as i can tell and never released any of them. thanks for the reply :)
A low-poly model is a pain in the A... Is it worth it? To tell you the truth, no, it's not worth it because the more you touch it, the more it breaks.
But you can give it a try; you don't have to lose anything. The time that you would lose, you will gain knowledge.
this is basically how i learned to do bodywork and paint. i was given a hillman imp to restore from start to finish and of course i was guided but basically left to my own devices to break things make mistakes and learn. But yes, i came across alot of car's where you never even attempted to touch it because you knew it would just be digging yourself a never ending hole. thanks for the reply :)

retopoing really depends on the complexity of the base mesh. a car exterior like a modern hypercar would take more work than something angular like an 80s buick regal

main problem comes from the inaccuracies in the low poly model compared to the actual car itself that you have to account for (a lot of low poly cars texture things like panel gaps and holes and whatnot, because some cars (especially race cars) it can be hard to find good reference images
yep, i understand what you mean. i can't imagine it would be easy to get that info on race cars, especially the less well know ones. thankyou for the reply :)

These days I'be been working on BTCC skins.
Basically from the hemi fictive 77 Pirtek one that is based on 2019 Andrew Jordan's 330i, I created both WSR #1 From Colin Turkington and #15 from Tom Oliphant. They are available on RD.
https://www.racedepartment.com/downloads/bmw-330i-wsr-btcc-2019-1-15.62999/

I' have edited the original source to get it as accurate as possible, if anyone wants to get it, send your warm and I'll release it too.

thank you for not giving any credits to the original author of the Pirtek skin ;)

this is what's in lods.ini:

So this probably got scrambled when unpacking and repacking...
Can someone post the original lods.ini file please?

For URD JT5 SNX , what is the complete car folder name please?
(tip: in future best include the car folder path in your zip file , which makes it possible to drag and drop in CM then - and to find the car more easily if not installed yet)

Thanks again!

Hi buddy
Thanks for the WIP you did, even though it is very basic it is the only version currently avalible on AC.
I see in your original post on RD you invited people to help. That was a number of years ago and many people have asked how the WIP is progressing with no reply given.
Maybe he did use your original WIP for the base of his track, is it that such a bad thing? He made it for rfactor so didnt steal your thunder in the AC community.
We have all seen the work that Rainmaker has done to Assetto Corsa mods over the years so you can be certain that there will be significant improvements made to the rfactor version.
If I were you I would be super happy, you yourself said your skills were limited and you were still learning ( as we all are ).
I talked to the original owner of the rF1 track and there's no problem.

question for you 3d model guru's: @DaWallace @Shokeus and many many more (sorry i do no know your names):

how hard is it to turn something like this renault 19 into something akin to the Gillette or Marcos or Bmw?.

the reason i ask? well i am a total noooob when it comes to this kind of thing, however i am pretty experienced in the real life scenario and i can say say that working on car's that are worked on by somebody else normally causes problems. undoing someone else's work is both time consuming and frustrating (most of the time). Is it the same in this space??

how much work would it be to turn this low poly model into something worthy of 2023? is it even possible?

Have been away for a while (moving home...) but here, in my experience I would say doable, perfectly doable, on one particular condition tho : prepare yourself to redo the entire car. Piece by piece. This is what I did for the De Tomaso P70 (hope you will be able to drive it in the near future) and it is what I'm doing with the Iso Grifo atm. The lowpoly model will not be used in the final result, it will just be used as a reference to rebuilt your model from it, with as much photo references as needed to get the idea right. It is a long process, quite painful, getting things right needs time and patience. For the P70 I started in the end of April, for a AC-ready result around mid-june, a few hours everyday (and it is far from completely satisfying if you ask me). For the Renault I would expect an easier exterior, but way longer interior.

Do what you which with that reference in mind, but in short : It might be better doing it all over from scratch with "that" has a reference than modifying it. Do you have the patience (and time ahead) it takes to do a whole car from scratch, without precise measurement ? Only you can answer that :)

This is what you get when a file is corrupted due to encryption. Unfortunately just one simple wrong move and everything explodes, not only the lods.ini file (as far as I remember). The only thing you can do is reinstall the car and try not to touch further more the data.acd or the equivalent folder.

When a modder decides to encrypt their data from the beginning, they usually make it impossible to unpack. When unpacking a data file, make sure the ini files in the folder are not corrupted before working on it. If the original car has a data.acd file in the main folder, unpack it and rename it in datacopy.acd. In this way the game loads every .ini file in the data folder and not in the data.acd file. If you choose to pack the data, it can explode as I said before.

You probably already know these things, but in my experience it is preferable to do it this way

Yeh that makes sense, i can kind of imagine what it must be like, a labour of love basically and the patience of a saint :). thanks for your reply. I enjoy getting the inside info into a realm that i no very little about but am interested in.

@Breanuts , all the more reason to fix and repack, with car folder name and subpaths included ;)

I want to clarify that I was referring to the original data.acd file of the car. When a car is encrypted (data included) you need to work with caution, even if you want to use new data. New files or pack new/modified data can trigger the self destruction system 😂

Thats great.
I saw a pic on your RD post that was a progress pic in a 3d format, it had the track and all the buildings layed out. Looked super impressive, have you done anymore to your WIP as it looked awesome. I can see why so many people were asking.

Looks good, the non existing background mountains are gone now (as are road side photographers and cameramen ?).
On the left side of the straight, right before the last corner there are a few floating trees.

I boosted the work in the past weeks. You can see all the progress in the same Racedepartment Thread. Right now I'm stopped (other projects, 3d models, life issues etc...) However I'll release the track whatever the state is next month.

Hello everyone, i tried to fix as much as i can version of McLaren MP4\13 maded by VirtuaSimulazioni that was posted on here while ago and get the physics more realistic
Besides physics change UI, kn5 and skins are updated, also extension file with audio tweaks is added so original sound works fine now and new tyres shaders to make them much more realistic then before.
