Usually I'm running the "I can't believe it's not butter!" mode. Taste 100 / Flavor 85 / Mood Giddy

I don't actually have the game. I was just hoping you guys would think I did because I left settings. Aww shucks. :grumpy:

I can't find the Taste option in my FFB settings?:banghead:

PC titles that allow you to then also use the wheel manufacturers software to further tweak the settings, an option that doesn't exist on PS4

Which is something I recently found and have dove deep into the Thrustmaster driver, all kinds of options.

YouTube has really become a good friend this year, everything from changing an O2 sensor on my truck to installing drivers for my sim rig.
I kept getting kicked out of R3E SRS servers due to high ping, uhh YouTube?... yep there's a video guiding you through the complex world of lowering ping on windows 10 for gaming. Good stuff.

Isn't it incredible? My father is so computer illiterate, but I've shown him how to load YouTube. He's just about mastered it. Anyway, like you, he has been learning so much about so many topics. Sometimes I say to myself, "How the hell did we live without the internet in our personal lives?"

I drove the Porsche 911 GT3 RS on the Nordschleife in Assetto Corsa and Project CARS yesterday and I noticed a big difference in braking. In Assetto Corsa you have to be very careful when trail brake or using brakes in mid corner while in Project CARS the car is very stable and I had to make the brake balance to about 47-53 to get a similar effect as in Assetto Corsa.

Back in October I found a similar thing.

AC felt more 'planted' when driving, but more nervous under braking, with the PC2 can the opposite. However it s wasn't a night and day difference and as I said at the time more akin to testing the same car o two different tyre brands.

Unfortunately, I can't formulate an opinion since I don't have PC2, but this is something I feel Assetto Corsa does pretty well...cars can get nervous under hard/heavy braking. Sometimes enough to really get me scared I'm going to lose control. I haven't been trail braking nearly as much as I used to. I can't even tell you why - it probably has something to do with what we're talking about and it was my subconscious convincing me to back off a bit.

Great comparison @Scaff

It's the physics in AC that always have me return to this gem.
I agree with your statement. However, I don’t think there was ever any debate. :D I assume Scaff made the video because of that specific car. The E30 being a highly requested car for GTS.

I know, all to well. And I am happy for the GTS players (I own it too), but AC just has that very subtle extremely precise feeling in the physics.

The FF in AC is the best around. I can really feel when the wheels start to loos traction. Love that.

I'm back at sim racing after a hiatus of more than a year. Jumping into AC (on PS4), it's as satisfying as ever. All the years of frustration with GT4, Enthusia, GT5 Prologue/GT5/GT6, Ferrari Challenge, Supercar Challenge, Drift, F1200?, PCars 1 (& others I've forgotten) melt away. Yes, AC definitely has its limitations, but the physics/FFB are so satisfying. It's an amazing thing to drive and actually be able FEEL the car responding to the inputs - the mix of understeer & oversteer - & correct those inputs on the fly.

The additional bonus is how good the AI now is. Not perfect (obviously), but more than good enough to provide great offline racing, something that I'd only previously experienced in F1CE (in a somewhat cruder form). No doubt, at some point I'll get PCars 2, with all the bells & whistles - TOD & weather transitions - but I'm prepared to be disappointed (again) with the actual driving experience & (apparently) the AI.

Finally, am I the only one loving running the vintage race cars? The Lotus 49 is just amazing to drive! I really don't get the appeal of driving cars with massive amounts of downforce. It may be exciting IRL, but in a sim? There's just so much less going on in understeer/oversteer, weight transfer etc. And then there's the sound of the 49! Honorable mention to the 98T - the sound is just nuts - the pinnacle of F1 muscular insanity!

You will still find AC unmatched in "feel" but you really can dial in PJC2 to come very very close. Sometimes I just want tons of variety, other times I am fine with less choice but the pure nirvana of playing AC.

Am I the only one who thinks the gap between the easy and medium AI setting is to big? On medium it feels like quite hard. Can't imagine what Alien is like.

Oh I mean of course AC.

Yeah man I agree. I haven't played single player AC on my PS4 for like a year now maybe! Last time I played I was jumping between "medium and hard" and rarely "very hard" if I'm too good in that car/track combo. Usually hard is really hard for me.
I just look in envy to all those who can race Alien pretty easily.

@Georgeagea , I switched the tyre blanket option to on. It does make a difference. Easy win at medium races, not all though.

Thing is, I hate to win easy. I spend quite some time in getting the challenge right in any racing game.

Yeah I definitely has "tires blankets on" and all of my feedback was considering that. I dunno why would you not use it if it's available in the game. Starts with cold tires can be awful!

Every racing game I've played has difficulty settings that vary from car to car & track to track. It could just be that I'm better at some cars & tracks than others, but I suspect it has more to do with the relative performance of the AI cars at various corners of different tracks. There always seem to be some corners where the AI cars brake more than necessary & other where they corner better than I can manage.

Aside from that, it has long been apparent to me that some (purported) humans are weirdly adept at sim driving. It's one reason why the appeal of online racing lost a bit of its appeal. It gets demoralizing being repeatedly crushed by certain online drivers. Spending hours trying to learn how to make up the time? It's a thankless task. :banghead: :indiff:

Hi everyone, I posted here since I do not want to create a new thread for this quick question.
I play Assetto on PS4 with a logitech g29, and sometimes when I take a curve the car does not turn and seems to skid, who makes me turn the whole steering wheel.
I understand that it may be caused because I get the curve with the wrong speed (too fast), but I want to know if there is any car or FFB setup that can help me.

Thanks!

Too much speed and braking while taking the turn, can mess things up.

@Georgeagea , the blankets are off by default. Much better experience with them on.

Hi again, I'm back after one year+ in this thread. I bought Pcars2 recently and as there is the three rivals in the title and I happen to have them all, I decided to test them against each other.
So here, Assetto Corsa vs GT Sport vs Project Cars 2 / game pad vs steering wheel:

The final result doesn't bring up big surprises considering the fastest lap and that's not the point of the video. Rather the surprise surfaces in the extreme difficult levels and time differences when only ABS and no other driving aid was used.
Cheers and Happy New Year!

Thanks for the video... what is your choice when talking about simulation driving? i know that gts, ac and pcars2 is a must on ps4 (if you are a race fan) but which is the winner at least for you?

The video shows a good comparision. I wonder how motioncontrols in GTS stick up to the wheel users since that one is absolutely fantastic.

I've been playing AC lately and added PC2 to the line-up as well. I use for all 3 a stock T150 and the feedback through the wheel by default works the best in AC and GTS. PC2 needed quite some finetuning to get it the way I wanted. In terms of realistic drive and immersion I think AC an PC2 are by far ahead of GTS. I think that anyone who has played Kunos or Slightly Mad's take on simulation can agree that GTS is way to easy and there is no real challenge to be found anymore.

I think also that AC and PC2 focus more on the hardcore racing enthusiast than GTS. GTS is a more friendly experience. It looks beautiful, plays great on wheel and pad, is well presented and there is a lot to be liked. Overall slick which applies to the masses. However if you are in search for some more refined experience you'll go into the "niche" direction which first PCARS2 and if you go further, AC with its dry presentation and only the driving experience at its core.
