im trying manual :)

i've put myself on the deep end.

I'm not only learning how to drift, but im learning how to play GT3 full stop (didn't really play 1 and 2 as much as i should have), learning the tracks and learning manual while at the same time learning to drift.

hahaha i will be giving up soonish i would imagine, getting to frustrating

manual. im just really used to switching gears. when im on auto, i still switch gears >_<;

and i like how i can shift when im 1/2 to the maximum RPM of the car, to get a little extra MPHs before i switch gears :)

I still really don't understand that :P

BTW, I found every issue of the Initial D comics from volume 1 to like volume 16, with about ten 40 page issues in each volume, all scanned and .rar'd

Get me on msn at iambrocK@hotmail.com if you wanna check some out.

i haven't done one yet, but i think the vids are sent to a judge and then he/she picks the winner, am i right?

read the read this on the top of the drifters forum... there are rules in a link within that thread... that will explain how battles are performed... i am still int eh process of updating the rules... to get rid of some minor glitches

Whoa. I was just watching one of my replays and I looked at the tach for a second and realized I was shifting and downshifting absolutely flawlessly. Then I thought.... "Did I ever look at the tachometer when I was driving?"

Well my R33 had 539hp... im sure i could drift good in slick or soft but i seem to like sims better... it drifts good, if i change it to like slick or soft or supersoft would i drift better... im doing good on sims... even my R34 has 604hp i use sim also... but more than 600hp i use supersoft mostly...

When i drift i use MT, when i race i use MT, Auto to me is slower and boring... i like MT where you can push ur car to the limits and like during the 1/4 mile test... redlining it alittle to get that extra boost... love MT... and when i drive i dont even notice shifting... its just normal to me i guess... first day i got it... i went straight to shifting.. tuned them little things to flick up up shift flick down downshift... since i did that i never use AT... but we all like different things but i cant stand AT

Manual is better

I odnt even realize im shifting, and i dont look at the tach either, it all just comes to me at the right time

even my cars run manual.

to drift, u gotta downshift...only way to do that with auto, is tapping reverse.

that in mind, it's easier to just use manual transmission and have more control over the gear ur in

You give n00bs the wrong impression when you say that. You don't need to downshift all the time. Hell, sometimes you don't have to do anything but turn. What you do in a drift always depends on the circumstances...

AT and MT work the same for me, its all about your style or what type of car your drifting, I use auto alot more cause i drift cars in the 300-500hp range where you dont need too much RPM to get the tires to break out, So to me there both the same...

I find you need not compute much to shift. It's just a matter of you feel it slowin' so you shift. It comes naturally after a little while. I just find auto anoying, and I can't do those 3rd geer launches for some spin-happy cars...

...now as for realism, with the game controller it "simulates" a computer-controlled Sequential Manual Gearbox, which uses a chip to control the clutch and shift, but you say when, just like in real race cars. Well, almost, it shifts a bit too slow on many ultrafast shifting cars, like the Formula 1's which should shift in 10 ms, not 500. It seems to wait for the revs to match, like the SMG is double-clutching every shift.
