Or that Citroën didn't go crazy with the Axel's ad.

Note: I like the Visa GTI and its ad, but I don't think the ad was very good at making people buy them.

Or maybe they forgot they had to make one, I haven't seen a video commercial yet, probably they only made image ones.

Well, the Visa GTI ad does have a great story. The man behind the advertising agency wanted to use a French airplane carrier, but the French military told him to take a hike. What they didn't know was that he also had connections to a certain man named François Miterrand, who happened to be France's Prime Minister at the time. Mr. Miterrand then told the agency's head honcho "Very well, use that carrier you wanted. We'll also give you a fighter jet to go with it. And a submarine, because you never know..." France, am I right?

And besides, those "hardly convincing ads" still exist today. I like it, but I'm not sure if the Toyota Aygo's ad where the car pees on a Dodge Ram pickup would make me buy one... It is a hilarious ad, though. :lol:

@Niku Driver HC TV ads did exist. The only video evidence I can find comes courtesy of the Greeks:

Well, that answers my question, noted and appreciated. 👍

Still, it does look pretty tame compared to the Visa GTI's ad, the only thing crazy about this one is the language (and the car jumping up and down on bumps)...

One was a badge-engineered budget model built in Romania based on the same Prototype Y design as the Visa. The other was Citroen's top-of-the-range, 5-door supermini. It makes perfect sense for Citroen go out of their way to market a more exciting and practical model instead of a rebranded Oltcit that was only available in certain parts of Europe.

Dark Flint Edition New Beetles. I really, truly despise the first gen New Beetle--let's be honest, it put the 'vag' in VAG--but they looked particularly good in this color combination...sans the wheel treatment.

A neigbor used to have one of those Citroen/Oltcit Axels 10 years ago or so. That thing was bizzare to say the least. I remember sitting in it as a kid, pretending to be in some sort of a Star Trek spaceship. :sly: The car ended up at the scrappy after failing the MOT from what I remember. A bit of a shame really, it was one out of no more than a few in the whole country.

That steering wheel is Citroen in a nutshell

yeah that's the ultimate guilty pleasure right there :crazy:
Not even some random Chinese Car that is a knock-off of an already existing car beats the New Beetle?
Oh wait, forgot that it is impossible to enjoy Chinese Cars.
And no, the GAC Trumpchi doesn't count since it is basically an Alfa Romeo 166.

Then you're a fool.

Although I comment that there has been a marked improvement in your posts compared to some other members here, that's not true not in this case. I concur with Zenith.

Your horse, please dismount.

And get into this:

Vauxhall Calibra

To be fair Ford has steadily raised the bar for their own vehicles as of late. His statement was pretty bold in that regard. Otherwise I wouldn't have been as inclined to reply the way I did.

Nope, the V6. With amazing "Good lord, I literally have no idea what is going on at the front wheels".

Eh, close enough. The handling behaviour is similiar between both, the 4x4 of course offering the best understeer for your buck. :lol: No wonder I once saw one on a list of "bad cars" on a local classic car magazine...

Also, there are 5 Calibras for sale in Portugal. One is a 4x4 with the 2.0 Turbo engine, complete with bad taste in interior! :dopey:

Not so quilty, the Citroen Cactus ;

A little bit more quilty, the Daihatsu YRV.

To be honest, I'm a YRV owner (Young Redicilous Vehicle :sly: ), because it's a cheap, spacious, bit sporty and just a trustfull fellow ;

For such a small car it was a very good climber/very short turning circle... can't be negative about this car. I love it.

More quilty, I've a weak heart for midi mpv's or spacious vehicles like the YRV above. I know many people who hates or are disqusted with the looks of the Daihatsu Materia. Way too boxxy, ugly at the front, ugly at the rear.. and the 'profile' shouldn't be okay? I see it as a really cool car. Urban? Low rider? I owned one of these too and someday I'll own 'm again. Then make it a panel van... :cool:
