They're M's wheels, 17 inch CSL replicas.

But the more important issue here is that Cody managed to spin out on those old and cold V700s. At 25 miles per hour. What a rookie!

Looks good. Better than the black wheels? I'm not sure... Call it a wash.

Gonna stick (or slide, perhaps) with the V700's, or are there plans to have them shod in something else?

I'm planning to make these into the daily wheels, for looks and such. Hoping to get some new rubber on them soon, as the current ones on the older wheels are, well, dying. Durizza Star Specs might be in the future, or Kuhmo XS. Not sure, might go with some thing a bit more timid.

I've heard good things about Star Specs. Azenis, of course, are good too.

But I really think you should say sod it all and get A048s. And replace them every month.

RT615s for a little track action?

The wheels look great on the E36. 👍

How are the Kumhos working for you? A spin at 25 mph? On or off throttle? What happened?

The Star Specs are the top of the line in that class of tire. The XS is supposed to be better than the Falken now. The Azenis is pretty much bringing up the rear because these other companies come up with something new every year. They are cheap, though.

But if we're talking R-comps, I'm talking NT01s. That's if it rains, of course. Besides that, a set of A6s, V710s, or Z214s will do me just fine. Not a clue which is better though.

Kumhos are great now that I've got them up heat once. The spin was less than 30 seconds after I drove on them for the first time. Sharp 90 degree right turn that is uphill when you start and then changes to downhill just past the apex. Also changes from pavement to chip seal. I was in 2nd, off throttle. The transition is enough to upset the car with the tires cold, as it also rotated a little there when I drove that same spot later. My spin the first time was mostly me not expecting it at all and thus having a hand on the wheel and fiddling with the cd player.

So are you like every other BMW owner who refuses to clean his godforsaken rims? :P

No, I wash my wheels. And my car. Because it is the best.

Yes, I am one of those owners. Because I know.

Reminds of my friends sister. She's got an E46 330. I walked up to it the other day, thinking the rims were painted dark gray. It was brake dust. They are silver-ish wheels :nervous:

Well, now I really need to wash it. . .

Yeah, it is more out of hand now that it was rained on a bit while cruising at 70 mph.

I knew cars usually saw the most dirt on the lower portions of the car, but wow, I'm impressed with the way it kept itself to the area below the trim line.

I'm diggin the tiger stripes. And yours are two-tone too.

Have you even changed the oil in that thing yet? Thoughts of acquiring the MR-S come to mind...

You do realize that to keep BMW wheels "clean", you need to wash them after you get to work every morning and again after you get home.

I've noticed this too. And it takes forever to clean them. After painting them, I literally drove half a mile to take the pictures at that garage and get a lot of dirt from a finger swipe. And DS1's are impossible to clean with out a bottle brush.

QFT.

Let's not forget any BMW wheel with more than 5 spokes is also the most grueling & time consuming wheel to clean.

Az, I'm glad the Kumhos get some life back in them after a heat cycle. I figured they wouldn't be 100%, but probably 80-85% after a good warm up.

Re: BMW wheels. I still have post traumatic stress from cleaning the M135s from my ZHP :scared:

The M Double Spoke 2 (DS2's) are pretty bad for cleaning, which is what my room mate has.

And now that the Style 5's are all popular, these don't look great for cleaning either.
