i gave my girl her first race under my 459bhp R32 GTR..and i havent had any problems winning so far
Put "her" in a Civic Type R against other Civic Type R's and see how she fairs. ;)

I've finally been able to decode the command buttons:

Pace down - hit the wall head-on slowly (option drive directly off course whilst applying the brake)
Maintain pace - Drive normally until the last chicane and then spin out due to heavy throttle (only when leading).
Pace up - hit the wall head-on as fast as you can. (option drive directly off course at full throttle)
Overtake - pull up behind car in front and examine his plate for current tags. Upon successful examination allow at least four cars behind you to overtake.

Jeez and this is with level 13 drivers........

A training tip,
Use 1 driver to develop up till like level 15. Then get your other 3 and put them in killer 4WD cars on Expert series. They will lvl up really really quick. Rather than getting 2 at lvl 5 and lvling up slow.

I chose a driver with a temperment slightly on the hot headed side of things. It works well for me as he battles his way to 3rd or 2nd I then tell him to reduce pace until his temperment is in the middle. I keep telling him to maintain pace and force the leader into making a mistake. I have only missed out on first in a couple of races so far and that was while I was still working out how to handle him. I have been using cars running at roughly the same performance as the competition too.

Bob is doing quite well on my journey, he's competent enough to push my Murciélago-SV to a win in the Sunday Cup in his first attempt! :dopey:

Now seriously, I'm enjoying the B-Spec experience so far but nothing replaces the joy of driving the car. No matter how good the management system is ( or isn't, depending on your judgement ) A-Spec will always be more interesting.

I folowed what you said, so i gave my b spec a mucielago sv, he's spun out into the walls about 6 times already, yet he's 1st. haha. bdw he is on decrease pace.

My B spec driver loves driving german cars and hates driving japanese cars apparently...quite the opposite of me. :dopey: he wins 3 in a Golf R32 then 3 in an Audi R8 then I put him in a Vitz and he fails badly...

I hear you. Well, actually I'm not enjoying it at all - it's basically watching a reply while I can't play GT5. However I have realised the point - "auto grind". I haven't needed to grind yet, but I imagine when I do the first 10 races will be OK (yey driving) and then after that, v.boring, at which point I can let Bob take care of it while I do something else. Luckilly I work from home so Bob's going to have a fun day tomorrow.

First race, easy win, C63 AMG fully tuned with Sport Hards, and he came off once, but kept it in the right direction...

Whats so hard about this again?

I have been playing b spec all weekend because my girlfriends parents are staying and I can't sit there playing gt all day. This way I don't look rude.

Anyways my driver is quite high now and can win all races with virtually no input from me. What I found is that at the beginning don't give him a to powerful car he will spin out or lose control a lot. You need to find a car just a bit quicker than the opponents. You also unlock different cars to what you unlock in A spec which are better than the cars unlocked in A spec.

Does anybody remember the giant-chicken racing mini-game in Final Fantasy 7. This seems pretty similar, though it certainly takes a lot longer. Speed up, slow down, nothing makes a win happen.

Anybody know the deal with sharing drivers online yet?
Does that mean he can screw up races to get xp without me having to watch him wreck my cars? If anybody wants to train up the level 2 I put online, be my guest. I don't let him near my cars anymore.

And exactly what kind of 'professional race driver' can you hire who doesn't start off knowing how to get a Vitz around the track without having about 3 visits to the sand? Maybe I'm looking at it wrong and this is actually a really brilliant simulation of hiring random homeless men and making them race for soup. What ever will those Japanese think of simulating next?

He's just doing what normal people do when they get behind the wheel of a Vitz.............fall asleep.:sly:

Chocobo Racing! It was mint!

xD,Probably  but apparently he knows how to drive a '69 Camaro around the Autumn Ring Full Layout.

1. wtf is this pokey-man bs?? what is pokey-man? im 27 not 47 why you guys make me feel so damn old? lol

2. my driver never gets any commands accept for slow the F down bob and he is doing great.

3. you need to balance between giving him a better prepared car than competition, and not TOO much better of a car. if you want him to learn. as in real life your driver gains skill by driving in tougher races (or fairer), not just by winning. if you give him a rarri modena and the rest of the guys are driving miata's... he will get about half of the points he would get if he is also in a miata of equal power to weight. i think the trick for me that has worked the best is to just prep the car well.

it is very much like the real world where i have spent the last god knows how many years prepping my customers cars for the track and watching inexperienced driver after driver learn how to properly pilot their cars, i ALWAYS turn the boost down until they can handle it, else they just learn nothing but how to fly off the track, hit other cars, or at the very best waste their money on tires and brakes. and i know i learned far better by going up against the best in my usually underpowered but better prepped honda.

4. yeah can anyone at PD please fill us in as to wtf these arrows are all about?

Althought the b-spec drivers class increase's the same, I think you hit the nail on the head with the "Experience Meter". My 2nd driver has about 1/2 the experience of my first. I persume it is because I was over specing his car so he could win quickly and catch up in level to my previous driver.

The experience meter seems to be the most important thing. I think it determines how he acutally handles cars/tracks overall.

Misunderstanding of game mechanics for the win. It seems random and pointless at first, but the more you keep at it the more sense it starts to make. If you've got a powerful enough car you can win with zero input, but when you're evenly matched with the opposition those buttons do actually serve a purpose.

Just thought I'd add something here. Was just doing B-Spec in the Professional Series on the top gear test track. My guy was way ahead and was going around the corner in the middle where the tyre stacks are. My guy was going right and got rammed by last place and ended up spinning out and then proceeded to turn right instead and ended up dead last :sly:

Mine is lvl 10 now, I figure he has run 30 races and only lost 2-3. I always give the driver a much better car, but even from lvl 1 to lvl 10, if I put him in the same car now in the same race as when he was lvl 1, his times are much better and doent spin out anymore.

TB
My B-Spec driver (F. Pastor) is level 7.
Six laps on Autumn Ring Mini.
Driving a stock Lamborghini Murciélago LP640 Chrome Line.
In the Sunday cup. Be quiet. :P

Keeping him cool the entire time, his best lap was 49.915 seconds, 5:06:836 total time, 51.139 seconds average.
Keeping him hot the entire time, his best lap was 45.134 seconds, 5:01:183 total time, 50.197 seconds average.
Keeping him mid-line the entire time, his best lap was 45:720 seconds, 4:43:365 total time, 47.227 seconds average.
Update:

Same driver (F. Pastor), this time at level 14.
Same track.
Same car.
Same race. Be quiet. :P

Keeping him cool the entire time, his best lap was 48.642 seconds (down 1.273), 4:59.484 total time (down 1.699), 49.914 seconds average (down 1.225).
Keeping him hot the entire time, his best lap was 43.711 seconds (down 1.423), 4:31.076 total time (down 30.107), 45.179 seconds average (down 5.018).
Keeping him mid-line the entire time, his best lap was 44.831 seconds (down 0.889), 4:36.538 total time (down 6.827), 46.089 seconds average (down 1.138).

The big surprise is he must have gone through anger management classes because his hot laps were 5.462 seconds faster than mid-line vs. 27.818 slower last time - a 33.28 second swing!

My theory: Cool is good at the beginning. Hot is good with more experience.

I'm thinking the same thing myself. Seems like the better they get the harder you can drive them without them making mistakes.

In the beginning if they even touch red they spin out. Currently at level 14 my 2nd driver can go all day in the red without a problem, but I think it might wear him out faster (mental/strength).

Right now I'm just working on leveling them up fast, so they're using fast cars. Later after we figure it all out I might train them better, but right now I just want them to win me a certain car.

I just found out that my driver needs as good tires as possible or else he will drive like a turd. But with better tires hes actually quite good.

They seem to drive as if they have the best tires allowed for that race, whether they actually do or not. Not entirely sure why that is, doesn't make much sense.

But yeah, it definitely helps to give them the best tires allowed.

I made that mistake yesterday - 700+ HP McLaren F1 on Comfort Softs (like an idiot I forgot to check what was equipped). He was in 12th place before the first corner and spun all the way through 3rd gear.

All I know is my Bspec guy is costing me a lot of money because I have to add lots of extra mods for him to win in the same car that I used to win a given race. If I could just get him to stop braking on the straights when he comes upon another car...:banghead:
He is like a lemming, he likes to brake and follow rather than , I don't know, go around that slower car coming up....
They need a "kick him in the head" button :P
