B-Spec Autobacs SUPER GT Season 2 Plans

As the first successful season of this series comes to a close, many begin to wonder what's next for the series, and what the future holds for the racing community. These plans reveal what is confirmed for next season, and what might come if demand shows.

  • New backend for the series
GTR2 has given me a ton of trouble throughout the season, giving me run time errors and hanging for seemingly no reason while streaming. I will be switching to rFactor for next season with a mod that I have collaborated with @YayoiGT2 and @Earth. I'll edit the mod to my fitting and hopefully this gives us a more stable outcome. This will also solve fuel issues such as running out in the pit lane or way too aggressive tactics.

This isn't to say that GTR2 is dead, far from. There are still some projects I want to work with on alongside @rallymorten. His historics series is looking up and I wish him the best (and if you need any help, I'm here bby)
  • New points system
For some reason, all Japanese motorsports have some really weird points systems. (Super Formula uses half points, that's a hassle) To try and combat this and make sure everyone can understand, I'll remove the 'laps down' points addition, and instead offer 3 extra bonus points to the pole winner in both classes.

1st - 20
2nd - 16
3rd - 12
4th - 9
5th - 7
6th - 6
7th - 5
8th - 4
9th - 3
10th - 2
11th or lower - 1
DNF - 0
  • Complete car roster
Probably everyone's most favorite part about these announcements is how many cars are available for next season. Fortunately, the field will be much more diverse, and BoP has been tested for the closest outcomes.

Also, the cars have been modified to closely match the speeds of SUPER GT today. These cars are much faster than ever before.

GT300s can have different body styles. In parenthesis are the different styles they can have, they don't alter their characteristics of the original car, only thing different is the body. All GT500 cars have a 5 team limit. All GT300 cars have a 3 team limit.

  • Official Painter's Guide for rFactor users
The great thing about this mod is that I can distribute it to everyone and have them see their own progress as they wish. More detail later.
  • Increased field size with qualifying formats
The GT500 class will be capped at 16 cars, but the GT300 class can consist up to 28 cars on the same track at the same time. However, if entries go over these numbers, cut-out qualifying will take place. GT500 and GT300 classes will qualify separately to minimize traffic, and up to 18 GT500 cars can qualify, and up to 33 GT300 cars can qualify, but if below the cutting point for the race, they will not be able to make it to the main event.

*The Okayama rounds will have it's own limits, with only 25 GT300 cars making the cut.
**Depending on number of entries, the amount of cars that can be allowed during qualifying can vary.
  • Season 2 Schedule
I'll do my best to try and run a race every 2 weeks, and maybe even every week if time allows. However, the average is a race a month. There will be 8 rounds this season, with a bonus round at the end of the season. Races will be full length, and be at least 300 kilometers or 3 hours long, with the Suzuka round being 1000km.

Round 1: Okayama International Circuit
Round 2: Fuji Speedway
Round 3: Autopolis
Round 4: Sportsland SUGO
Round 5: GTP vote
Round 6: Sendai Hi-Land
Round 7: Sepang International Circuit
Round 8: Suzuka Circuit
  • Possible changes
- A basic upgrade system may come into place thanks to the way rFactor is built.
- (Unlikely)Setups, although not completely planned, may come into place given time issues.
- (Unlikely) A driver hiring system.
- (Unlikely) Jumps and figure 8s, with monster truck jams before the race. And super truxx.

Next season's thread will be posted some time after the race.

Hopefully the race will be great tomorrow. Have fun :D

Well well, an ATS and a Viper? Damm Suzumiya, that's some gud persuasion to lead me into ditching my GT-R, I commend you on that. But then again, the GT-R has been so kind to me, I'm not sure if I want to ditch it by replacing it with an unknown value...

As for the future plans, I really don't mind not having setups to work with, but this;

- (Unlikely) Jumps and figure 8s, with monster truck jams before the race. And super truxx.

I mean I couldn't give a Haruhi's arse about monster trucks, but figure 8s are my jam. Expensive multi-crashing! :D

I'm not keen on setups as A) I don't have the game and B) I have 🤬 all clue how the rFactor setups work. But as long as I can keep my Falken Shiden, I may come back for S2.

This isn't to say that GTR2 is dead, far from. There are still some projects I want to work with on alongside @rallymorten.

Some form of successor to The Thing confirmed, I guess? The grand SGT-on-GTR2 finale?

Also, not too displeased with a top five in qualifying. It's probably about as good as it'll ever go, but still.

And rip the Hyundai GT300 idea I had. Oh well. Sort of tempted by the Aston for reasons of Mighty V12.

Regarding setups, I doubt I could really get into it all that much, hence why I've dropped that idea myself and is sort of skipping the coming WSC season. Upgrades/perks tend to have the same effect, but are easier for everyone to work with, so I'd stick with that.

Hmmm, I'm not too hot on the setup idea either, but upgrades could definetly be a thing with a Tony Hawk Pro Skater points system sort of thing. Give all players a set amount of points and they can spend it on either power, handling, reliability, or pits.

After this season (and the two NASCAR series I'm in) I will retire from B Spec duties. Good luck with next season.

Will try to get the stream in by tonight, some real life duties getting in the way, but should be on by maybe 8-8:30 PM PST

Michelin Racing, Playstation Team Racerworkz Champions!

The race came to a tight battle in GT500, with Petronas Pezzarinho and Michelin Racing scrapping to one up each other in the points. However, Michelin Racing finished in front of Pezzarinho in the final lap in the 4th position to take the title and the #1.

All Racerworkz had to do to take the title was to finish, and they did exactly that. Comfortably finishing in 11th, the team celebrated as their rampage on the GT300 field came to a satisfying end, clinching the title and having privilege of bearing the famed #0.

Kreiger Industries caught their first win of the season after an unfortunate set of races. Cerumo gave Toyota it's maiden win in the GT300 class.

Manufacturer's Champions
Nissan wins the GT500 manufacturer's title.
Nissan wins the GT300 manufacturer's title.

Well done to @uMadson? and @GranTurismo916 for taking the final wins of the season, and of course to both @Michelin and @RACECAR for claiming both of the Championships!

Gutted to come so close, especially after taking 3 wins from 8! Unfortunately when the Honda wasn't suited to the circuit, I finished way down in the standings!!!

Massive thank you of course goes to @Suzumiya for running the series!!! :D
