My Widget says Temporary Server Error, how do I fix it?

EDIT: Also, can I do anything in GT5 if the widget is open? And will Server Standby Mode effect the Widget

I am getting this off and on, too. If I close the widget and relaunch it, it connects fine. Maybe PD is updating something and it's dropping the connection occasionally.

I believe you need to leave GT5 in Standby Mode for this to work properly.

Mine won't start any races, it will display "Reserving drivers" for about a minute, then "Race Ended" followed by "Loading Race Events" for about two seconds each? Does anybody know how to fix this?

@ Ford-Driver_62

Try to do a 'Force reauthentication' on the widget.. (rightclick on the widget to get the menu)
And have you remembered to do a 'clear network cache' in GT5 on your PS3 lately?

Also try closing the widget and the Yahoo-shell and restart.. sometimes the widget just locks up..

hello
is it possible to let drive from Iceland?

there is no Country option in v2.5.2 for Iceland.

There was in earlier versions? Anyways, you can use pretty much any country you like.. does not seem to matter much. If just want to connect, choose a country near you. (i know Iceland is not really close to anything :D)

Iceland is not a GT5 supported country never has been.
Nothing to do with the widget.

There is no region lock on the remote racing, Use the US server for every thing its faster than most locations any way.

I have tried the command line to choose a preferred race, but it does not work. I believe I have done it the way it is meant to be, but I might not have done, since it did not work. Could someone enlighten me as to how to do it right?

Regards,

ddsLeonardo > The thing you need to be sure of, is that the ID matches the country your're logging in with (in widget)

Try just using "United States" as your login country
THen in debug window input field @ bottom, insert:

preferences.preferredRace.value = 32835

I used United States in the country selection, and the codes referring to USA in the table I found somewhere in this site. Also, according to this table, the code you informed above is for UK selection, not US. The US code for Cape Ring, in the table I found, is 5934. Is that right? I hope I am not making a big mess out of it!

Regards,

If you enter:

preferences.preferredRace.value = 5934

into the input field of the debug window, do you see the following (or something close to it, can't exactly remember):

=> 5934

in the display field?

Hey I'm having a bit of trouble, I downloaded the yahoo widgets and the grinder widget, when I open the grinder it comes up with terms of service and I can't scroll down to accept or anything

Any ideas? Thanks

hmm..i usually use google docs.., u can upload a jpg directly, then share it

EDIT: or make it a zip and attach it here in post..click "go advanced" when u post..then croll down to "manage attachments"

Hmm..i don't even remember seing that screen :P

Did you download Yahoo Widget System from Yonis's link in the first post?
You can also get it here: http://widgets.yahoo.com/upgrade/

I don't know if there is any differences, but i reckon the download from the official site works fine with Grinder Widget.

I tried both, also my mate downloaded the same day and he didn't get that message. I'll try again, thanks for the help anyways :)

Solved...!

I uninstalled/reinstalled the Yahoo! Widgets-program (the actual widgets-shell)... The B-Spec Widget was still located in the "widgets"-folder, so it was available right away...
Then I just re-typed the login-details and the widget then connected straight away without further issues..

Thank you for the suggestion.. :D

Edit:
As also suggested by ch1potle, I did find it in the registry..
Is located here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Yahoo\WidgetEngine\Widgets\B-Spec Grinder
On next "lock-up" I will try delete the "B-Spec Grinder"-key, to see if it resets the issue..

:confused:
Warning: Serious problems might occour if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you know what you are doing before editing the registry. For added protection, backup the registry before you modify, Then you can restore the registry if a problem occour. See Microsoft kb-article about backing up and restore the registry in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756
Link to articles about Windows Vista and Windows 7 are available in that article.

Just a confirmation on this, as I was getting the same blank box issue you described earlier. Your second suggestion works, too, following these steps:

First, exit the grinder Widget and exit the Yahoo! Widgets app.
Second, back up then delete the B-Spec widget key listed above.
Finally, restart the Yahoo! Widgets program. It should present you with the default setup box (need to enter E-mail and password, etc.).

Anyone know the code to type so it will choose the Cape Ring race everytime? Is it a different code depending on your Country? I'm in the U.S.

You are a genius, yonis. I have never been a big fan of people who are "widget runners" because of the robotic invasivity of the system on your Bobs, but now that I have realised how many controls you can do, I'm happy with doing it! I run a Bob championship, I was hesitant about launching the widget at first, but I realised I can have control over when it runs, like I said before, I love the idea. Great work: you are the Steve Jobs of the Gaming World!
