It appears that the link for the widget in the OP is broken. Please re-link?

EDIT: I found my original copy, but now when using it it just sits there at "connecting to PS3" before giving up and wont go any further, any known reason? My ISP connection is fine.

Just wanted to give a big thanks to Yonis for this widget.

I have been using it for a couple of months now with no problems except for a couple of things I have encountered which are not because of the widget.

How I use the widget:

I created 4 sub-accounts on my PS3 in addition to my primary account with the only purpose of creating B-Spec Drivers to share.

1 Account is only used to host the races, and only has 1 B-Spec Driver. The other 3 accounts have 6 shared drivers.

I set up the widget so that primary account's B-Spec drivers are set to always use, and the 3 sub accounts are set to random. Widget is set to always run Cape Ring because it has the highest payout.

About once a week, I will retire all the B-Spec drivers in the 4 sub-accounts and create new drivers in their place to keep their levels low.

All my bobs in the primary account started remote racing at level 40 with 500+ races, they are now all well over 1000+ races, but "declining".

I have never shared any of the bobs on my accounts with other GT5 users, all remote racing was done within my accounts.

I regularly clean the cache in GT5 on my primary account and the sub account I use to host the remote racing.

Hardware setup: Both the PS3 and computer running widget are on same network and are hardwired via ethernet. Computer is a MacBook Pro 13" running OS X 10.6.8.

Problems encountered: I have occasionally experienced server disconnect issues that mainly happen between 3 am and 6 am MST USA.

I believe this is due to my ISP conducting maintenance at these times. The issue is intermittent, and I can usually rectify it by quitting the widget, and forcing it to re-authenticate.

Sometimes the PS3 sub-account hosting the race goes offline between about 3 am and 6 am MST too, but once again I think this is ISP maintenance, and logging back in cures the issue.

There is a conflict between the latest version of VirusBarrier X6 for the Mac, and Yahoo Widgets that results in kernel panics, I have reported this to Intego with console logs that back this up.
Curiously these have only occurred between 3 am and 6 am MST USA time too.

I would say that 97% of the time I have had no issues and the widget does what it is supposed to.

Benefits:

My B-spec drivers in main account generate about 6M in a 24 hour period, this is probably because all my primary account bobs are level 40, and the widget is only set to run Cape Ring.

I use the Sub-accounts to buy cars under 1M and gift myself 1 everyday from a sub-account.
This arrangement also allows me to buy more than one of the same car valued under 1M from OCD which is great.
I also regularly check the UCD on the sub account used for hosting as that seems to cycle because of the remote race hosting.

I now have 800+ cars with 2 or 3 versions of the most expensive cars for track-specific setups.

I am to the point now where I only occasionally run the widget because I have all the cars I want except for 2 which can only be obtained by getting gold for 2 specific license events.

I am very grateful for what the widget has allowed me to buy.

Thanks again Yonis!

Big thanks to NLxAROSA and his Gran Turismo 5 B-Spec Remote FAQ too.

My problem is: after the widget is opened it verifies inet connection then half way through the login, the login progress bar stops and stays frozen mid-way for approximately 5-10 mins until it says: temporary server issue.

I was having this problem too. All I did was right-click the widget > widget preferences > advanced > changed concurrent threads to 2 threads. Haven't had a single issue since.

I have 3 B-Spec drivers loaded into this widget (I love this widget by the way)

My drivers are: Level 39, Level 14 and Level 0. They are all on sharing.

What I don't understand is it almost always uses my Level 0 driver, and almost always gives me a rubbish car. When I leave it on for a few hours I win a few hundred thousand Cr and about 100,000 experience points.

However if I leave my Level 39 driver on something like Nurburgring 4hr or Spa B-Spec seasonal, he'll always win and collect more credits than if I leave the widget running for the same amount of time.

Am I doing it right?

You need to turn off the option that spreads the races between your drivers and select your preferred driver only in the widget. ( but ive forgotten what the option is called lol)

Level 0 driver Will not make more money than a level 39. because level 39 is higher skill set they will win more As your driver.
level zero drivers will earn money with out you having to race B-spec when they are run by other people. Low level easy to beat.

You put a low level driver online so that you don't have to run him in B-spec ofline your self.
If you continue to lose with a level 39 driver then you may have to set specific friends with low level drivers to race with in the widget.

Don't know if you have tried this...if you have please disregard.
1) Quit widget, restart widget, force re-authentication, if you still have problems try next steps.
2) Quit GT5, logout of hosting account, log back in, restart GT5, and re-enter remote race standby mode, restart widget, force re-authentication.
If you still have problems:
3) Clear the cache in GT5 for remote race hosting account, try again.
4) Verify if you can initiate remote racing via GT5 home page for remote race hosting account.
5) If you have a router at home, reset it (after quitting GT5).

Thank you for trying to help, but none of the above worked to fixed log in problems. I am graciously accepting any more ideas as I'm willing to do almost anything to get this damn widget working.

here's what's happening, hopes helps explain the issue.

Do you have your firewall on in your router? Might be the problem if you do have it on. Cheers!

Just so you know mate, you are not the only one, I have been having this issue for 2 months now!

I just started using the widget again about 36 hrs ago. The first 24hrs it worked great. I run remote races from a secondary account to race the 6 bobs from my primary. I have a few more secondary accounts with 6 drivers each to fill out the grid. Last night I stopped the widget to race and restarted before I went to bed. I had started a race on the GT server manually on Indy as the Widget was seeming a little slow.

This morning I found that no races had started overnight. I closed the widget and reopened it. I restarted the widget and the first race it started it only picked drivers from my secondary accounts. No drivers from my Primary account at all. The day before I had set 2 threads and 25 sec delay. I thought it was working well but took about 5 mins to start another race. I had decreased delay to 15 secs last night to see if it would speed up. After the first race this morning skipped my primaries I set the delay back up to 25 secs.

I think I have run about 6 more races this morning with settings of 2 threads and 25 secs. My primary drivers are only showing in half the races despite ding the only account in always use. On 1 of the races there were only 12 cars. I'm wondering what to do now. Is this just server issues? I'm logged into the US gt site and have the course set to Cape Ring. I'm baffled how everything is set the same as yesterday, but it is just not working well today at all. Any suggestions? Is it just a bad server day? I could decrease threads to 1 I guess but that will give a really long delay I assume. Looking for some guidance

Update Jan 11, 2012
Last night I tried 1 thread and 25 secs and that didn't seem to resolve the issues. I then logged off and back on the GR website and started a race manually. The next race I tried to start manually it had the drivers from my Primary account unavailable. I logged off and on again and was able to use them. While the race was running I started the widget and overnight it ran fine. This was with settings of 2threads and 25secs. At about 9 am CST today the issues began happening again. Grids not full and Primary drivers missing races. My conclusion is that server traffic likely plays a role. Overnight I seem to have no issues. Once peak hours hit things to downhill. As far as I can tell there doesn't seem to be a fix as even trying to start a race manually during these times can be difficult.

Have others ran into these same issues? If so any suggestions?

These are now working again on their own accord, please disregard (thanks for fixing the link) :) And no, the connecting issue had nothing to do with firewalls or anything local, it just started working again all of a sudden  May have been a bad day for AU connections to GT:ouch:

It's against PSN Terms and Conditions. It is in the class "hacking", with all the other unknown 3rd Party apps.

Okay, but I asked for proof, so please post the links so atleast I can read it! (I think more than me wants proof!)

Cheers!

Try creating a new account and read PSN's terms and conditions or go to PSN direct why should others do your donkey work ? Everybody who uses the widget does so at there own risk.

This is illegal, and how safe could something be that you give up your PSN account?

Seriously? Where in the PSN Terms and Conditions does it state that? How is accessing a more or less publicly available API "hacking" and how can it be deemed illegal?

Hmm..

I tried that..it says 1/4 drivers in Use..

Is something supposed to show up on the TV screen? All it says is "Currently in server standby mode"... and on the bottom is a marquee saying to go on the GT site or remote race..

Does the widget report your current credit? If not close and restart yahoo widgets and set the widget to start races automatically. This process has worked for me on several occasions when the widget hangs at any point
