Just wanted to give a big thanks to Yonis for this widget.
I have been using it for a couple of months now with no problems except for a couple of things I have encountered which are not because of the widget.
How I use the widget:
I created 4 sub-accounts on my PS3 in addition to my primary account with the only purpose of creating B-Spec Drivers to share.
1 Account is only used to host the races, and only has 1 B-Spec Driver. The other 3 accounts have 6 shared drivers.
I set up the widget so that primary account's B-Spec drivers are set to always use, and the 3 sub accounts are set to random. Widget is set to always run Cape Ring because it has the highest payout.
About once a week, I will retire all the B-Spec drivers in the 4 sub-accounts and create new drivers in their place to keep their levels low.
All my bobs in the primary account started remote racing at level 40 with 500+ races, they are now all well over 1000+ races, but "declining".
I have never shared any of the bobs on my accounts with other GT5 users, all remote racing was done within my accounts.
I regularly clean the cache in GT5 on my primary account and the sub account I use to host the remote racing.
Hardware setup: Both the PS3 and computer running widget are on same network and are hardwired via ethernet. Computer is a MacBook Pro 13" running OS X 10.6.8.
Problems encountered: I have occasionally experienced server disconnect issues that mainly happen between 3 am and 6 am MST USA.
I believe this is due to my ISP conducting maintenance at these times. The issue is intermittent, and I can usually rectify it by quitting the widget, and forcing it to re-authenticate.
Sometimes the PS3 sub-account hosting the race goes offline between about 3 am and 6 am MST too, but once again I think this is ISP maintenance, and logging back in cures the issue.
There is a conflict between the latest version of VirusBarrier X6 for the Mac, and Yahoo Widgets that results in kernel panics, I have reported this to Intego with console logs that back this up.
Curiously these have only occurred between 3 am and 6 am MST USA time too.
I would say that 97% of the time I have had no issues and the widget does what it is supposed to.
Benefits:
My B-spec drivers in main account generate about 6M in a 24 hour period, this is probably because all my primary account bobs are level 40, and the widget is only set to run Cape Ring.
I use the Sub-accounts to buy cars under 1M and gift myself 1 everyday from a sub-account.
This arrangement also allows me to buy more than one of the same car valued under 1M from OCD which is great.
I also regularly check the UCD on the sub account used for hosting as that seems to cycle because of the remote race hosting.
I now have 800+ cars with 2 or 3 versions of the most expensive cars for track-specific setups.
I am to the point now where I only occasionally run the widget because I have all the cars I want except for 2 which can only be obtained by getting gold for 2 specific license events.
I am very grateful for what the widget has allowed me to buy.
Thanks again Yonis!
Big thanks to NLxAROSA and his Gran Turismo 5 B-Spec Remote FAQ too.
