B-Spec in GT5

That's some useful info there. I took my guy to the Professional Supercar Race in Daytona hoping he'd win me some easy money in my fully tuned CL Murcielago with 818 HP. I can win the 3 lap A-Spec race with 20 seconds ahead in that car, basically going 350+ kmh all the time. What does Mr. Newman at level 8 do? He slows down to 200 kmh in the curve sections and even breaks to a speed of 220 on the little bend at the start line and comes in last every time - that just sucks. Maybe he's got fear issues, got to send him to an analyst... :irked:

Snap, although I found if you give him the increase pace command up the wazoo, he makes the 'mistake' of not slowing down as much, and thus does better...

Silly Yoshi, hopefully he'll learn in time.

I have mine running the easier tracks with my M5 Coupe. He earns me alot when im watching TV, on the phone, playing something else or making dinner.
I cant watch him drive, that is just painfull.

With the next update apparently. Nothing confirmed though but the December update will bring quite a hefty amount of things it seems.

The one that's coming 'soon'? Ohhh no... :scared::nervous:

Still, much rather have the game whilst we wait for the full game :)

What do you think i did? I told him to increase pace about a hundred times... :yuck:

I wish there was a 'be confident, you can do that little guy' command button or some way of sending electric shocks to his accelerator foot or other vital body parts :mischievous:

Looking back over the past few pages, I'm seeing a lot of off-topic stuff and spam. At least three different moderators have been in here cleaning the garbage out, so I have half a mind to lock this thread now and be one with it. And unless I see a marked improvement in post quality, I will.

Apologies for stating the obvious 👍

Has everyone else found that Bob's mental state only drops when he's been almost completely drained physically and is then under stress?

Mentally, he seems unaffected by actual race events until he can't hold his arms up any more, then goes to pieces...

You are correct about the mental status.

I'm up to five drivers now and it's my opinion that PD intended the B spec game to be a long slow process. In GT4 your driver progressed pretty quickly in his abilities and that is where I got thrown. I kept expecting him to follow a similar progression. If the top level A spec is 40 I have to assume this is true for 'ol Bob. So it makes sense that he's not a god at level 10.

I also believe that B spec is now a crucial part of the game as the prize cars Bob wins are vital. And we all know in GT5 you can only win them once.

Been getting some good prize cars from B-Spec but similar to others my drivers are sometimes awful and its painful to watch.

Finding the only way to win a race is to be in a car that heavily out matches the competition.....

even that isnt good enough sometimes.

I can understand that PD wanted B-spec but why oh why do we have to watch it at 1x the speed. Can we not have C-spec which could be where we employ a pit crew to take over for me giving instructions ha ha

When you select your driver before a race. What does the arrow next to the drivers head mean. For example one of my driver it is green and going upwards to the right. But on my 2nd driver it is just going straight sideways. Anyone got any ideas???

It shows the form that your driver is in. The thing I'm wondering if how you go about raising his/her form. I've rested my main driver for 3-4 races and he still has the orange arrow pointing down and to the right. Then, I'll take him into a race and he drives as if nothing was ever wrong. It just irks me that his form won't go back up. Does anyone have any ideas how to get his form back up?

Is this the arrow next to the drivers helmet in the selection screen?

My main drivers form was orange and pointing down, he won a race and levelled up and his form went back to green and straight across. Not seen it pointing up ever that I recall.

He had a bad run of not winning races that caused the orange form, so I assume lots of wins boost it?

Haven't seen it affect performance though, it's too hit or miss as to how he drives to really make any judgement...

I'm loving this mode, I'm 37 and when i'm to tired to drive using a G25 this mode is perfect.

I was having problems with my BOB (K.Mass) in the Virtz race, it was quickly resolved as i was using the wrong tires and Bob was useless. The car was at fault and not BOB :-)

I have three drivers now and one of them had the orange arrow pointing down, after winning two or three races in a row. Then in the next Races i switched to another driver and gave the orange arrow guy a rest and did nothing with him, now his arrow is green again.
So winning or loosing races doesn't seem to affect his state (if thats what the arrow indicates). Maybe he just went on vacation or fell in love and now he's feeling better... i wish there was some kind of manual for these things.

My driver can't win the Pick-Up Truck Challenge Daytona race, I give him a 530 HP Dodge Ram and he still fail. He constantly brake on the turn while the other drivers past him easily. Any advice guys?

you need a chevy ss, supe up to 700hp for daytona
gota check used

Ok, i got 5 drivers the fift one is new and only lvl6 so i firgive him mistakes and dont set him up in gt allstars. I levveled the others all around lvl17 use that mazda concept in gt allstars. The driver manages to win the 2 first races, but then maybe get third once, even if everything got done right he wont pass the leader. From now on it goes downwards, in the lead, around 15 sec, slow him down in 2nd last lap. Even if he aint drained physically nor mentally, he spins not once but so often that the ones that shouldnt pass me(classement wise) are through. Not enough, my principle ennemy in the championship manages to get the rank that throws me off as a leader, making me come in 6th two races in a row?!?! This did not happen only once. Am i not allowed to win the series??
I mean normally my drivers do pretty well except for the overtakin thing.

I re-rolled 2 new B-Spec drivers, 1 full hot, and 1 full cold. The Hot one likes to do full massive drifts with my Chromeline M3 when he gets heated :)
He's also more aggressive. The cold one is more conservative when it comes to overtaking, but seems to win and get leads better.

Pretty cool seeing an AI drift like a pro :D

Also anyone know what the colour coded arrow icons on their profile mean?
Something to do with morale? or fatigue?

I'm on my first AI driver S. Black. I've got him to level 8 already and he's a very cool driver. I've been coaching him to drive faster pending on the car and track. He's at 30 of 34.

Train your driver to a higher level using races he can win. Mine was too stupid to win the Supercar Race on Professional in a fully tuned 840+ HP Murcielago while all other cars were around 500 HP. He came in last every time.

Now he's level 12 and he beats the second car by 8 seconds...
Patience in training your driver is key as well as giving him a superior car. But the rewards are worth it, because you win much better cars in B-Spec.

Wow, thanks for the tips about the tires. I've been using a 90% modified Scuderia for one of the Italian race series and he would barely get past second. Now that I switched to the recommended Racing Soft tires (I was using the Racing Hard rubber the car came with) He's performning much better. As we speak, he's dominating the entire pack by at least 5 seconds :)

This is ridiculous. My Bspec driver could manage 10th on the daytona race 4 levels ago. He's now LV14 and he's 15 seconds behind after the first lap.

Yeah, tires, suspension, downforce and a bit of extra HP helps Bob a lot. I finally beated the Yaris event with a lvl 4 driver and without overkilling my car (130 HP, sport tyres, hard suspension and a spoiler)

And secondly, you shouldn't quit a race beacuse the driver is sucking ballz. You get a fair amount of exp even if you finish 12th, so he will get better with every try, and finally he will be able to win the race.

don't just buy upgrades and hope bob wins it through power. drive you car for a bit and setup its suspension. a good handling car helps bob a lot. and by a lot, i mean it can mean wins and losses for him.

I gave this guy a great car that I've been winning with in A-spec at the beginning and he couldn't do anything with it. Like a toddler behind the wheel. I gave him an old 87 Race car civic that I had to reduce the tires on and all of a sudden he's Mario Andretti.

When you give him commands it only last for as long as that meter right? Then he just goes back to his normal self?

So we got a bob that doesnt really want to overtake!?! So is that overtak button worth anything? I just tell him to increase pace and he overtakes way better that way. A button we could need is a block button! Didnt any of you feel that way too?
