Liverpool played pretty crap against Sheffield Utd. on Saturday. Pretty embarassing performance IMO. But still........

Liverpool for the premiership this season!!

You really, really, really think so? I don't, I think it's between Man U and chelasea all the way. Though really it is too early to call.

I'm an Arsenal supporter but i'm not saying we will win it. I would love it if we did, and we do have an outside chance.... I wouldn't put any money on it though!

I'm a liverpool supporter so you can see why I'm saying that
Liverpool are definitely one of the better sides in the Premiership, but I just can't see them coming higher than third.

Is my opinion of Chelseas performance today.

Chelsea's defence needs sorting out badly. In my opinion it's the main reason they won back to back titles, it was ridiculously tight. Looking much more suspect now.

I am a happy chappy today, oh yes :D. Manchester United were brilliant today, could have easilly been 6 - 0, we hit the post twice and the crossbar once. Flipping Darren Fletcher, I do not rate that kid, but he scored a good goal today. I still dno't rate him, but today he scored a good goal. That's all he did mind, but as a team we played great.

As for Chelsea, better luck next... No wait, what am I saying, well done Middlesborough, you thoroughly deserved it.

It's mainly the Portugese contingent, Paulo Ferriera gave the free kick that lead to the equalising goal and Gallas look so much better next to JT than Carvalho does. Bridge looks decent though and I don't see why we need Ashley Cole. I'd rather see Gallas tied up with a nice long contract.

This was utterly sickening.

The sound, the motionless slide along the floor.

Thatcher should be banned from football.

bbc.co.uk/football
The Football Association has confirmed it is investigating Manchester City defender Ben Thatcher's challenge on Portsmouth's Pedro Mendes.

Thatcher received a yellow card for his challenge which left Mendes needing oxygen at the pitchside.

Mendes later suffered a seizure en route to hospital.

An FA spokesman told BBC Sport: "We're looking at whether this may be viewed as an exceptional case as rules make it difficult to upgrade a yellow card."

Thatcher appeared to catch Mendes with his forearm, sending the Portuguese midfielder into advertising hoardings.

The FA will wait to see the contents of referee Dermot Gallagher's match report before deciding its next course of action.

Had Gallagher dismissed Thatcher for violent conduct, FA rules allow it to impose further punishment on top of the three-match ban the offence carries.

Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp called for the FA to take action against Thatcher.

The incident was captured by television cameras but video evidence cannot be used to retrospectively upgrade a yellow card.

A Fifa spokesman confirmed to BBC sport: "It is one of the fundamental rules of the game that the referee's decision is final.

How stupid is this? Because the referee took action, the FA can't do much about it. This is most definately an exceptional case, Thatcher deserves a very long ban.

I agree, that was voilent conduct and it should be treated as such.

I understand the FA's point, that they can't just overturn a ref's decision, it kind of makes the whole idea of a referree pointless if their decision doesn't stand. But I also agree that this is an exceptional case that should not fall into the "we can't undemine the referee's decision category".

It's realy ****ing sickening watching it if the fa can't get their collective arses hopefully the police can do him for gbh and he can spend a few months in prison for it. The worst thing is that you see him complaing about the yellow card just 30 seconds after the incident.

I don't care what the FA do, but the police must get involved in that. If you did that out in the street, you'd end up in jail.

It is not the first time Thatcher has found himself in trouble for reckless behaviour.

Six years ago, he was banned for three matches by the FA after being caught smashing his elbow into the face of Nicky Summerbee.

And earlier this month, on the Blues’ pre-season tour of China, the former Tottenham defender was sent off against Shanghai for two bookable offences.

He left an opponent requiring hospital treatment for a punctured lung after a similar challenge to last night’s, which also went unseen by the referee.
He should be banned from playing football for life.

EDIT: But everything will be OK, 'cos he's sent Mendes a letter of apology!

WTF. Did the ref even see it? Surely he must've heard it. I agree that Thatcher should be banned and jailed.

Apparently according to Harry he's a lovely guy off the pich, he's just an animal on it. I don't think he does it because he's malicous, I think he just doesn't have a clue how to control how hard he should go into a tackle. I do think he should be banned from football, he's harmed plenty of people this year, let alone in his career as a whole.

Jail may be harsh, if I was playing with a load of mates and crashed into someone hard and they had to go into hospital everyone would be annoyed at me but the police wouldn't get involved, not that that's happened to me. I think it's should really be up to Mendes if the police should get involved or not. However, I'm not trying to make any excuses for Thatcher, no matter how much of a nice guy he may be off the pitch, he should not be allowed on the pitch if that's what he does. And he's proven that's what he does over and over again.

Anyone got any predicitons for this weekends matches? I predict another Man U blitz of the opposition, but I would :D, I think Man City will be lucky to not lose by 3 or more goals today. Even though Arsenal arn't on form so far this season, City have got off to what could possibly be their worst start ever.

Liverpool won 2-1 against West Ham
Man U are winning 1-0 so far just 15 mins into the game.

EDIT: Booogah, 1-1. Still first half though.

EDIT: 2-1 to Man U, goal 6 mins into 2nd half.

Well it certainly wasn't as smooth a win as we expected. We didn't play that great but we got the 3 points final score 2-1 to Man U.

Other results so far today are.....

Wigan 1-0 Reading
Liverpool 2-1 West Ham
Fullham 1-0 Sheffield United
Charlton 2-0 Bolton
Tottenham 0-2 Everton

Heh

Arsenal

I dunno all that fancy passing and no end product whatsoever.

On another note Kuyt looked realy good when he came on for Liverpool, he looked so much better than he did when he was playing for Holland. Maybe they weren't playing him in the right postion for his country.

I know, I was very pleased with that result, though I wasn't far off, Arsenal did hit the post twice and the crossbar once , I'm glad city won. Now all I need is Blackburn to win tomorrow.

The problem with Arsenal is theyy try to pass the ball into the net all the time, no one takes a chance at a shot unless it's a perfect shooting opportunity.

Liverpool will be a force this season, Chelsea will be when they kick into gear, there's no doubt about that but if Man U can just keep grinding win's in scrappy games and annhialating the opposition in all other games I'll be a happy man. We play Tottenham next, will probably be the hardest match of the season so far, though Tottenham didn't do anything with any of thier chances today.

It's a shame Venger only seems to know how to play one style of football and how bloody long is this team been in transition for? 3 years now almost i'd say. Allot of my Gooner friends have been a bit annoyed that he hasn't bothered to sign anyone else bar Rosicky. Also speaking of Rosicky, he looked ****e like he did allot of the time at Borussia Dortmund as well.

Also you have a situation with Henry, now he is a class, class player. But now you haven't got Bergkamp or Pires feeding the kind of balls to him he scores from, that's a big blow. I mean Henry doesn't look 100% anyway at the moment imo, he seem's to be lacking that sharpness infront of goal we're all used to seeing 90% of the time. But you compare the number of chances Henry is getting now, to last season and they've gone down. What Arsenal needs is another center forward I think.
