The 'team orders' saga has ratcheted up another notch with Rubens Barrichello threatening to quit Brawn GP if he is again the victim of team orders.

After the Spanish Grand Prix, the Brazilian veteran played down any comparison between the situation in Barcelona and his six years as Michael Schumacher's number two at Ferrari.

But with Ross Brawn the common denominator, a frustrated Barrichello clearly suspected that the switching of race-strategies penalised him while favouring his championship-leading team-mate, Jenson Button.

"If I get the slightest sniff that the team are favouring Jenson, I'll hang up my helmet tomorrow," he declared to the American broadcaster Speed TV.

"I need to find out what happened. I'm sure everything is okay," he added.

Team bosses Nick Fry, and Brawn himself, denied that Button is being favoured.

"Nope, no. Absolutely not," Brawn, who was involved in the infamous team orders scandal involving Barrichello at Austria in 2002, said after Sunday's race.

"I hope Rubens doesn't think that, because we are not (favouring Button).

"I think you saw at the first corner that there are no team orders," said the Briton, referring to how Barrichello had been free to challenge Button for the lead of the race.

Rubinho... you've got a good thing here with Brawn GP...

Champion or not, you'll have a good result...

Let's not ruin it now...

^^
Hah that's right, but then it also sucks because Barichello would've deserved it more after working his butt of for Schumacher all those years under BRAWN yet again :odd:

It seems that Barichello really isn't as good a driver anymore as Button though. Assuming their cars are prepped the same, Button clearly has been in front of him every race so far, and this race in Spain was the only one so far where Rubens challenged Button.

Do any of you think he could have won it if not for the stupid strategy?

Rubens has no one to blame, but himself. I'm not gonna judge him yet, but he has no excuses. He still has 2 or 3 races to prove he can out-drive Button (what he did in 2 of the 3 years they raced togheter).

But hey, that's why Rubens has always been a joke in his homeland...

Poor creators blame their tools. Rubens should drive the way he needs to if he really wants to win.

I bet Bruno Senna is hoping Rubino gets that slightest sniff. Barrichello would be stupid to quit, and I doubt he would knowing he has an F1 seat.

Couldn't say. Button was faster on the slicker tyres than Barrichello, even when he was carrying a heavier fuel load. And as for the harder rubber, there was no stopping Button at all.
