Beater or Sleeper? COTW Forza 7 Week:END The Ultimate Sleeper, The Holden Sandman! Thanks Everyone!!

I thought that there are always two cars (bcs of title)... :)

However, I practiced a lot with this month Bounty Hunter, that takes place on Mugello too, also with little stronger Ford Fiesta.

So I did some laps and here is the best so far:

So the 850R Estate, A practical hopped up version of the standard 850, expect not as hopped up as it could be.

The 4 speed auto version is both 10hp and one gear down on the manual version, it’s just under a second slower to 60mph (7.4 to 6.5) and the manual version also had a viscous coupling LSD.

Handling was predictably understeery due to the 60/40 weight balance and it would spin up the inside wheel in the turns.

But after dragging it kicking and screaming around Mugello, I got a time I was happy with. :P

Overall it’s a decent car let down by its gearbox and understeer.

Verdict: Neutral (only just) :)

Did a little improvement yesterday and another one couple minutes ago, so this is final time:

I even direct recorded it (after finish line I'm looking for a time, bcs I'm driving without most of HUD)! :)

Somehow I enjoyed driving this, on throttle very sensitive Volvo.
Now when I finally understand who is who, I would say that 850R is before sleeper then beater.

Thank you guys for the opportunities like this one!

I'm slow, the car is slow, and Mugello is sl... actually I'm not sure about that last one. Unfortunately I don't have much time today, and my pace seems to be doing an inverse of the usual. Every lap I get about a second slower... yay.
The car is what you'd expect really. It drives like a skip with a turbo attached, it'll go as long as you don't look at any corners.
Verdict: Beater

So the scores on the board are as follows..

@Vic Reign93 2:24.913
@VICGT1970 2:25.327
@zaxs 2:25.494
@Drex124 2:27.306
@Nacho Libre 2:32.376
@Populuxe Cowboy 2:33.329

Zaxs came close to splitting the Vics last week, maybe he’ll have better luck at this weeks event or maybe someone else will throw down a hail mary lap. :P

In any case..

Congratulations @PJTierney !!!

Your dedication to all things Forza on GTP is to be commended, plus the Casual Racing Monday Club you host brings both comedic banter and great racing together. :D

So PJ, what have you got for us this week?

It is....

943EF63A-9803-419A-8DB2-2AC5D2DAE68A.png

The 1999 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI GSR!!!
(Funny coincidence that photo was also taken by PJ too.:lol:)

So our 4th car from the Red Diamonds of Japan and it’s the oldest Evo we’ve got available.

It’s the second least powerful at 280hp, but the second most torquiest at 300lb-ft courtesy of its rally bred 2.0 turbo 4 cylinder engine.

It’s also the lightest Evo with a near 300lbs advantage over the next lightest Evo with a kerbweight of 2,822lbs, least nose heavy as well.

You’ll be testing this cars high grip 4WD potential at Virginia International Raceways Normal Patriot layout in the Dry.

Go forth and hoon with zero care for the tyres, but don’t forget to put a fast lap in. ;)

I was already hoping to something good with great car pick, but then VIR...

But I'm happy bcs of gap from last week, where I was close to get some win, somewhere.

I said I'd stream it.

52.738.

Lancer's got quite a bit of grip, but it does understeer noticeably. And that's not getting into its twitchiness when shifting weight rapidly. But once you get a hang of those quirks, it's a beast of a car.

The problem is...It's a Lancer Evo. Everyone knows they're fast as hell.

Neutral.

Edit: Thanks to @Nismonath5 for setting up a COTW server for both GT and Forza! For any of us Forza players who want to chat about the cars off-forum or voice chat, check it out here:

How do you guys manage to keep videos on Twitch?

I don't have any PC, just consoles and this slow J3 smartphone...

Even this rally car acts wild at VIR.

Two ways:

  1. Twitch can be set up to temporarily archive livestreams for, I believe, two weeks.
  2. Creating a Highlight makes it a permanent upload. You can still manually delete it, of course.

Was meant to post this earlier, but got side tracked abit. :P

So the Evo as we all know is quick and agile, but of all the Evos we have, This is the most track focused one.

It grips well because it’s the lightest Evo and is pretty sharp out the turns with 4wd and the most torque of any of the Evos.

So in the grand scheme of things it’s Neutral, but compared to the other Evos it’s a Sleeper.

Verdict: Neutral :)

I'm actually a little surprised I was able to get a bit of a rhythm going around Patriot. I suppose it helps I wasn't trying to avoid 23 other cars at the same time. The Evo VI is a very capable sports sedan. It was a lot of fun to push around this little race course.

Patriot doesn't have a pitlane... which is a shame since I ran the tank dry on this one. :lol:
This may be my favorite car track combo to date so props to Mr. PJ on that one.

As for the car? It's an Evo, you don't need an internet pleb like me to tell you it's great. Still, it's my favorite of the bunch.

Verdict: Sleeper

When I first read that VIR is next track, I was little disappointed.
However, old love to car I always loved, less than his famous "blue friend", but much more than I suspected to track, made this week live...
As laps was counting, I realized that this combo seems to be a perfect match!

Powerful 4WD classic has no big problems with narrow elevations and some off-road that Patriot is delivering! Even handbrake sometimes can be used in competitive lap.

Side where this Evo belongs was never in question.
Nothing from this track isn't problem for this week's "beast from the East"!

Verdict: sleeper

Had to push like mad to get that time. :D

Speaking of which, does anyone else have the issue where coming out the turns it feels you’re not getting enough steering lock?

I’m turning all the way to one side and It’s giving me hardly any steering angle to work with.

It’s not just a problem exclusive to the Evo, I’ve noticed it on other cars as well, You know it can turn more and yet it won’t let you and you end up going wide because of it. :rolleyes:

Aside from that small gripe, I’ll be back sometime after midnight with the car for this week. ;)

Are you using a controller? I had that problem last year, it was because my controller was worn out and I had to replace it.

Yeah and the thought that it could be worn out crossed my mind, but then I recalled it always seemed to happen in very low speed corners when you need the most steering lock, medium and high speed turns there’s no issues at all.

Some times it does limit my steering lock and sometimes it doesn’t, It’s too inconsistent to be consistent with what may be considered wear and tear.

But in any case, let’s get to the scores. ;)

Great turnout for the Evo at VIR, let’s see if we can keep it rolling for this week. :cheers:

Congratulations @Populuxe Cowboy !!!

Been awhile hasn’t it?

*Checks the list of picks.*

Yep, you haven’t had another pick since this whole thing started. :lol:

Let’s address that shall we? :P

You decided on...

37626497-2FAB-4A74-8959-458A80C64994.png

The 2015 Jaguar XE-S!!!

Jaguar’s answer to cars like the Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series and this one has its sights set on the S4 and M3 models respectively.

With 340hp and 332ft-lb of torque from its supercharged 3.0 V6 connected to a 8 speed auto, This cat has got some claws to work with. :sly:

This 3,787lbs Jaguar will be your luxurious companion as you roar through the streets of Prague on the Full Circuit Reverse layout.

Who will come out the other side with the Jag purring in content and who’ll be trying to stop the big cat from clawing at you while you’re yelling, “Who the 🤬 keeps a tiger?!?!” :D

Foots to the floor folks. 👍
