Have you considered a BMW 435i coupe? You'd have to get a manual, as it doens't have a DCT available, but it's probably quite a fun car. The engine in the 335i has been praised over and over for its smooth power, and BMW makes cars that are generally fun to drive.
I actually concur with this, but I'm also "slightly" biased. :sly:

The 435i starts at $47K if I recall right, & the car's (as of now; I don't know what BMW will introduce on the 4 series) main optional packages are the M Sport & Premium, which should be about $5K together. Of them, I would highly advise to get the M Sport package. While I can't comment on the 435i, I do know every BMW I have owned or driven with that option is much tighter-feeling in the handling than without; the car just ends up riding slightly rougher. Other than those 2, the x35i models are pretty well spec'd out by BMW.

A 435i M Sport starts at around $50k, so getting one for significantly under $55k shouldn't be a problem.

Hmm, I looked anyway and I suppose it's a possibility but i'm not much of a BMW fan. On top of that I think I liked the previous design language more then the current. I'll have to do some research on it.

Yeah I can't wrap my head around the styling of the 435i right now it looks funky too me. Maybe I need to see it more/in person. The numbers don't really wow me either but I guess i'd have to take your word for it that they handle really great. Although something really unexpected happened yesterday. I saw a brand new S4 in the flesh out in the wild and it was black and I was practically drooling. They look much better in person then on the website where they look really normal and bland. The S4 has the advantage of being right here right now. 3 or 4 months without a car for the weekend was going to be a trick. We'll see, now i'm all confused again.

I'd say that, in the end, it's best to follow your heart. That's what these cars are about, right? Go with the one you've fallen in love with.

*That's

Yeah, I agree with this 100%. Do what you want. Heck, buy a Honda and put 1000 HP in it . It's your choice and money, Blackbird. We're just suggesting.

I just watched a Motor Trend Head to Head video, and Lieberman thinks that the S4 makes about 400 bhp. 4.4 seconds to 60! he also said, though, that it's a bit numb and not as fun as it could be, despite the insane speed. I'd go out and drive one, and see what you think.

Link.

I completely agree with what you're saying and I deeply appreciate the input/suggestions. I take them into account, I didn't even think of the 4 series. I love getting feedback on what people think. With that, I took a drive to my local(sort of) Audi dealer today. I got suckered into test driving an S4.

Two words: Holy crap

For 333hp it felt like 400, that car has got some gitup-and-go! It was equipped with the S-Tronic. The interior is outstanding which i'm not suprised, Audi is often the benchmark for the industry. In the flesh the exterior looks really sharp and conservative with a bit of a sporty flare with the wheels, subtle bodywork, and the quad exhaust. The stock exhaust has a nice beefy V6 sound. Overall I really like the car. That's Audi's advantage, I can't test drive a CLA45 right now.

I also watched an Autocar video of the A45, and they loved it. It too is very, very fast, bur is likely more alive in corners. The steering is apparently quite good.

If you want good car reviews watch Chris Harris on DRIVE. He owns an S4 avant and one of his next vids will be the A45(which shares a lot with the CLA.

From what I've seen before he loves the S4, and that how much potential the engine has.

If were me I'd never even consider the Merc, and go straight for the Audi.
