PS: This Gulf Aston Martin is joining!

EDIT: Son of a... sorry double post. :(

That Gulf Aston is an amazing car. He's been raising a lot of hype for the GoldRush Rally.

Video from the autocross. No in car video. A buddy has one in my car on his facebook but not sure how to post the video up.

You can see my crappy line. First time doing an auto cross though, was a lot of fun. My friends car is the blue mustang.

It's pretty cool all the same!!!!

It won't play. It says it's restricted from play because it's Copyrighted. Damn, YouTube not working on my PS3, laggy as hell. I'll watch it tomorrow.

So nothing new about the Mustang but a decision to think about. I've been thinking bout running a staggered setup. Put wider tires in the back with stickier tires. Like a 305 in the back and keep 275s up front. But if I do that not only am I buying new tires (probably more expensive too) but new wheels as well. At the same time I'd like to upgrade my brakes, they have always felt underpowered for the car plus with the power it has now I'd like some better stopping power. On the otherside ever since it's been announced i've been toying with the idea of buying/leasing a 2014 Cayman. What do you guys think?

wider tires and bigger brakes are always going to be a good thing to do. If you buy/lease a cayman, will you be keeping the mustang??

I like those new Mustangs a lot. I also really like the new black wheels and the hood you put on this car. Plus the video from that angle is quite awesome. Its rare to see it from that perspective. Quite nifty how they set that up for recording. Judging by the shadow it was sort of remote controlled helicopter or something similar.

Either or. I can't afford both. It's possible I suppose if I finished paying off the Mustang then lease a Cayman with a big down payment. Not sure if I can pull it off but at the same time just doesn't make much sense to have both a 500+hp 5.0 and a 60k Cayman. Unless I was able to own something more practical then those two as well. :P

Thanks for the comment. :) Yeah the video was quite cool and I wasn't expecting it when we were planning on doing the autocross. I keep watching that video and my line was so horrible compared to my friend's. (Blue SN95) Only thing that video takes away is the sensation of speed. He used a home made hexacopter(I think). It had 6 rotors with a circuit board in the middle and on the bottom an attachment for a GoPro. He controlled it with a big remote control plus he piloted it with a pair of goggles that he could see what the GoPro saw. Pretty nifty stuff. 👍

yeah thats true. if it where me i would keep the mustang. not just because im a huge fan of them but the price of the maintnence is going to cost alot and parts for a porsche are harder to find in the USA. the mustang is more practicle in that respect.

May I ask why you would want to lease a new Cayman? You could buy a very nice used 911 for much less than that (which is probably the route that I would take).

For example, a mint Carrera 4S with barely 19,000 miles on it.

or a slightly newer one? 911 Carrera S with 29,000 miles...

Both are well under the price of the Cayman.

I don't mean to sound like the new Cayman is a bad car or anything, I'm just wondering what makes you want to ditch the Mustang for it... Whether you decide to go even further with the Mustang or move on I'm sure you're going to be very happy. 👍

A new Cayman retails for $52,600. The cars you posted are being asked for $42,900 & 46,900. In the world of buying cars, that is not "well under", even if the Cayman he options out comes to $60,000. Asking price side-by-side, the Cayman is less than $5,000 over the Carrera S & less than $10,000 over the 4S. The amount isn't hard to work into a 36+ month payment plan.

More so, both of those cars are out of warranty, so however nice the mileage is, any maintenance isn't covered by Porsche by this point where as the Cayman will be.

Since BB is talking about leasing, it appears he's going the route of payments. I'm throwing in a 48 month deal for all 3 cars & $10,000 down at 2.0% interest for the 2 911's.

The Cayman at $56,570 (with bigger wheels; nothing more) leases at 48 months for $811/month w/ 12,000 miles a year.
The 2003 911 4S financed will cost around $714/month.
The 2005 Carrera S came in at $800/month.

Now, naturally, other things such as credit scores & your negotiation abilities come into play, but this is a general overview. You factor in the added bonus of the Cayman being a brand new car & what that comes with it, it's more than reasonable to pay that extra little bit of cash than with 2 911s that have zero warranty aside from a basic 3 month/3,000 mile limited from the dealer.

Now, if BB had said he wanted to buy the Cayman, that'd come out to $1,230/month & in which case, $1,200/month can get you into some really vehicles.

There's nothing wrong with the Mustang. In less than three years it will be paid off so either I will dump more money in it or look for something else. Unfortunately American cars depreciate like crap so the sooner I can get rid of it the better. Depends on what I want at that time but that's my choices right now.

Yeah the big plus is that the car will be brand new and under warranty. Unlike the Mustang I'd plan to keep the Cayman stock. :P I've driven an older Cayman multiple times before and they're just really fun to drive. There not as brutal and raw as the Mustang but it's not slow and it handles like a dream. I haven't driven a lot of cars but the Cayman is definitely the best handling and most fun car i've driven. Plus, it's a Porsche!

The Cayman I like is priced at $62,415. It's really easy to make it super expensive with options but mine would have PDK, the Sport Design wheel, Carrera wheels with the platinum finish. My goal would to go in with a big down payment. Hopefully I could get somewhere between 15-20k for the Mustang (I'd hope more but i'm being conservative). Then save around 10k. Combined it would help bring down payments substantially and more manageable.

I guess I should rename this thread to "Blackbird's Dreaming of buying a Porsche".

But anyways this is what it would look like in the flesh. The only Boxster/Cayman I can find in Amaranth Red Metallic and with the Platinum Carerra wheels is in Porsche of North Houston.

So, it would look like this but in Cayman form and probably with Luxor Beige interior. Maybe Black would OK. Seems like there is black interior everywhere though. Maybe you could tell me how it looks in the flesh McLaren? :P

I'm not too familiar with Leases and I know the payment calculator on Porsche isn't anything to refer to in real world applications but are Trade-Ins considered in leases? I would assume not. But if I were to put down 10k plus 20k for the car it's saying I cold have payments of $220/month at 60 months with 7,500 miles per year. (Which isn't too far off considering the mileage I put on the 'stang per year)

 Gorgeous, especially with the beige leather. I'd go for the Cayman over a used 911, the Cayman has a far better chassis.

Well I planned today to take some better pictures of my car but today's weather did not cooperate so... I went anyway. These are better than the phone pictures i've been taking so here goes nothing.

Aaand because i've been wanting to do this for awhile:

Second gear sounds weird because even in Sport Mode it didn't like full throttle so I had to back off a little before going again. Watch in 1080p for best audio.

Uh oh, what have you got up your sleeve, BB? ;)

Well its nothing for sure yet. Some things need to go in motion first. Questions to be answered.... :mischievous:

(I know, terrible at making something seem intense)

I probably shouldn't be saying this since the car isn't out of my hands yet but, more than likely the Mustang will be sold by next week. The replacement car will be quite a departure from a Mustang. It will more than likely will be the upcoming CLA45 AMG.

You should do a flyby at an awesome speed next time you are on the track.

CLA45 AMG, huh? Got a couple months til' they appear to be out, but I'm guessing you have a temp. car til' then. Curious though, if you know what they're starting at as I honestly don't know. I've heard $50K, but that seems doable for you if you were looking at leasing the Cayman S.

BTW, if $50K cars are in your budget, you've got quite a few nice options out there. Shame you seem to be wanting to move away from the US "muscle" sports cars as the baddest of the bad are easily under $50K (the GT500 is at $54K, though you are just getting out of a Mustang), but if you're after Germans, the 335i does start at $45K & you should be able to throw in some nice options to get it at $50K.

I'm not trying to stray from American cars. The reason im moving to German, specifically Mercedes-Benz, is I want something more refined and im in love with the styling of the CLA. The AMG's price isnt official but order guides are pointing to a $47,500 base. According to the order guide, with my selected options, it would come out to $52,000 roughly.

See if you can get invited to the launch party. I was at the E class launch at MB of Ft. Lauderdale.

The Benz dealer here is really awesome. One of the perks of driving one is that they really take care of you. If they don't offer you a single malt when you walk in the door, go somewhere else.

I can respect that. 👍

BTW, could you send me a link to the order guide? Our dealer network doesn't actually have much on the CLA45, just the CLA250.
