I can respect that. 👍

BTW, could you send me a link to the order guide? Our dealer network doesn't actually have much on the CLA45, just the CLA250.

Sure, again not sure how accurate this is. Anxiously awaiting the CLA45 configurator on MBUSA.

Order Guide

See if you can get invited to the launch party. I was at the E class launch at MB of Ft. Lauderdale.

The Benz dealer here is really awesome. One of the perks of driving one is that they really take care of you. If they don't offer you a single malt when you walk in the door, go somewhere else.

Well we'll see. I went in there a week ago to ask about information on the CLA and I felt like I was kind of rushed out. Basically everyone said no they didn't have any info asked if I wanted to leave my name and number, I did then I left. the neighboring Porsche dealer though was great. I was at the Cayman launch. 👍

What about an older C63?

The C63s look nice, i've always liked their styling. But, part of the reason I want the CLA45 is it's gas mileage. There's no official numbers now but the CLA250 I think is rated at 24/38. So the AMG engine i'm hoping isn't too much less. Although one person on a forum claimed it will probably dip by 40% which would make it 14/24. But other reasons include I really like the design of the CLA, I want something new, I don't have the cash to get a $50k+ used car and they're usually more expensive to finance one.

Good luck on the swap BB, I really liked your 5.0 though and I'm not a big Mustang fan.

I still really like it too but if I keep it any longer, as corny as this sounds, I might end up in jail or worse. Too much car for me right now. Not enough self control. ;)

Down the road I can see my self getting back into American muscle of some sort. Although ill probably get something already supercharged or the like.

I hear you. I was 2 mph under getting my license taken away a few months back. I'm usually pretty good, but every once in a while I gotta just open it up if I have no cars around me. Anyway good luck on your new purchase.

Thanks, maybe one day i'll buy a used GT-R. :P

Just looked into that CLA 45, looks awesome. That's pretty amazing power they're getting out of a 4cyl too, should be a great car.

Yeah it is pretty impressive, apparently it's the most powerful 4cyl in production right now.

Agree. What color you thinking BB?

Kind of up in the air. Either Cirrus White, Mountain Grey, or Patagonia Red Metallic. The last being a $1,750 option. :ouch: So that's probably not going to happen and with Mountain Grey I didn't realize the trim is automatically matte grey on the AMGs which might look redundant on a grey car. I wish it would just be body color. White with the "night package"(glossy black trim) might be the best option. Only thing I don't like is it seems everyone has a white car with black wheels, including these potential CLA owners on the forums. But it's for good reason, it looks really good. Not positive yet.

AMG Cirrus White w/ Night pkg
Patagonia Red w/ night pkg

Even if it is a $1,750 option, go for the red; looks sexy as hell. Cause you know, yolo & all that jazz. :sly:

Bad influence, bad influence!

But that red with the optional 19" wheels in silver as shown...

Well the buyer saw her today. Not surprisingly hes going for it. Finalizing the deal Saturday.

Good luck closing down The deal, hopefully both of you got a good deal. Can't be that hard to sell a car with that much power ;)

Congrats and sorry at the same time. Its always hard to see a car go that you enjoy so much. But as always, you will replace it with a new car you will love. Which means a new thread. :)

In a way it is hard because it is/was a fun car. But it some ways this is the best way to sell a car. Not when it's absolutely required or if the car is falling apart and just becoming a money pit (although she kind of was in the money part :P). Nope enjoyed about as much as I think I could out of her now ready to move onto something else. Something in some eyes, including myself, is a step up. It may not be as fast as the Mustang in a straight line but still pretty darn quick. ;)

On that note why must I keep looking for pictures of the 45 in that Patagonia Red Metallic? Why!?

The 45 is a beautiful car. Enjoying a car isn't always about how fast it is in a straight line or how fast the car is in general. Its all about what makes YOU happy. I bet the 45 rides incredible compared to the Mustang. Looking forward to seeing your new thread with the new ride.

Sorry to see the Stang go, lets just hope the new owner doesn't wrap it around a tree...I've seen that happen to o often. Enjoy the new car man.

What do you guys think of the Audi S4 as well? I'm almost 100% on the AMG but I can't ignore the S4 completely it's around the same price range if not slightly less and it has pretty good performance and refinement.

I'd likely have the S4 over the CLA, but if I were you I'd drive them both before choosing. The S4 is definitely an awesome machine, Road and Track picked it over a BMW E90 335i in a comparison test.

I think I'd personally go for the AMG. I like Audis, but they really don't grab my attention outside of the R8 & A/S/RS7.

Ultimately, I think it comes down to optioning them out with what you want & then seeing which is more appealing. Remember, the S4 starts at $150 more then CLA45, but it has a Prestige model that starts at $54K.

Yeah that's one issue. An AMG probably won't arrive here until winter. So I'd be ordering without driving first. Should be able to reject if I don't like it though right?

True. Another thing with the S4 is I can already see myself lowering it possibly change wheels and put an exhaust to open up the sound. In part that's what im trying to avoid. On the other hand the AMG is practically "perfect" as is.

The CLA is like a gift from Mercedes. Not only is it new, but it's cheap as flocks.

Yeah, I love the CLA but it's true when people say there is no $29k CLA. A nicely equipped CLA that i would build would come in around $36k. The AMG is just speculation but based on the order guide mine would be around $52k. If I gave in and really wanted those Recaros it'd jump to $56k. :scared: Again back to Audi at $56k I'm in S5 territory. As good as the S5 seems I can't help how bland the styling is compared to the CLA45.

Plus, the AMG has an optional sport exhaust as well. :mischievous:

Keep in mind with any of the 3 German luxury makers, that even if you are slowly ascending on the price of the next model up, you're not going to be getting the same options you've added with the model down.

A nicely equipped S4 probably comes out around the price of an A/S5, but the 5 more than likely has nothing on it. And German cars with no options are horrendously bland.

That, most definitely, will be a part of my order. :D

Good point too. The S5 was nice but I could barely touch the options before it skyrocketed. That and id need to get a manual to keep price down. Which isnt necessarily a bad thing but I have a manual now and id like to experience a good DCT transmission. They claim the one in the CLA is the same software as in the SLS. Lots of reviewers are turned off by its downshifting but I don't think it will be that bad. Not for street driving anyway. Not sure how good Audi's S-Tronic is.

For the past two days Audi's configurator has not been working for the A4/S4 but every other model works fine. :grumpy:

Sorry, missed your post somehow.

The guy that came and saw the car was at probably near twice my age. He had a nice new F150 and his son was with him so I think he'll take care of the car. But as much as I hope he does as long as the car is out of my responsibility he can do whatever he wants.

Have you considered a BMW 435i coupe? You'd have to get a manual, as it doens't have a DCT available, but it's probably quite a fun car. The engine in the 335i has been praised over and over for its smooth power, and BMW makes cars that are generally fun to drive.
