Blackbird's Audi S4: Things are going to get loud

I don't see the point in keeping miles off the S4. It's depreciated and will continue to do so whether you drive it or not.

I could see the point of getting a ~$6-7K Miata to supplement it though. That way you'd have something different enough to the S4 but also something that's already hit it's bottom price. (more or less anyways)

Or a Z4/S2000 if you like those better.

I guess days like these make me wish I had another option.

I was tinkering with the idea of getting a used second car so i don't put so many miles on the S4. I was thinking Mini. Whats your thoughts? Under $25k.

Any other criteria other than price?

Otherwise, I recommend something either even more practical or less practical. Some sort of SUV or truck for the former, or a convertible sports car like the ones Cale mentioned for the latter.

I suppose a bit more practical. More cargo space for reasons like the picture I posted. Fuel efficient, fun to drive, manual is a plus. That's why I suggested Mini although I've never been in one. I've pondered a CX-3 too, but as of now it looks like no manual and the engine is a bit gutless.

More practical? An estate maybe?

Now that you have a Gopro, where's a gopro S4 Video ??

You could probably get a Ford C-Max for cheap. I hear they're not selling well.

Do they sell the S4 avant over there @Blackbird. ?

They dont sell it here. The only "avant" you can get in the whole Audi line up is the Allroad

Hmm never thought of those.

Out of curiosity I looked at a new Colorado today. I figured if you put a cap on it with a long bed I could get a lot of cargo room. But the mpg isn't stellar.

You should exposure-lock it before setting it in the car.

Didn't realize that they stopped selling the Avants here in the US starting with the B8. Disappointing, really.

Hmmm, fuel efficient, fun to drive, and good cargo space is pretty hard. There's one of those old Subaru Forester XT, or a forth gen Subaru Legacy 2.5GT, or a 5 door VW GTI or a hot hatch like that is probably your best bet.

Small update:

Car has stayed pretty much the same. I purchased a 034 Motorsport Transmission Mount Insert to help with some of the tranny slop but I haven't installed it as of yet.

At the end of June a bunch of local Audi guys did a run through some back roads which was alot of fun. Some pictures:

I went to a car show at a local tuning shop this past Saturday. They offered their dyno for a fair price so I put mine on for a couple pulls just to see what it makes.

Made 272awhp and 265ft.lbs.

Apparently this Mustang dyno spits out low numbers? So take it for what it's worth I suppose.

Seems wierd. Rarely seen a newish Audi with less than the advertised HP... Maybe the correction is a "bit" off.

I never liked the engine hp figures as they don't mean much. What counts is what gets on the black top.

Well all I know it's advertised as 333hp at the crank. 272hp at the wheels from a dyno that puts out low numbers is ab out right. I expect these to usually put down 290hp.

small update. I installed a transmission mount insert from 034 Motorsport. The shifts are much more crisp and direct. Worth the small amount of money it cost and ease of install. 👍
