BMW 2-Series & M2

This is a traditional styling cue of BMW's, I like it 👍

Its a German thing. I miss my Jettas.

Audis... R8 does have a massive front overhang, and small rear, like the chassis stopped too quickly, but the body kept moving :D

Not sure on that. I quite like the standard 2-Series design. The above would look great as a race car but the effect of those flares is a bit too aftermarket for my tastes. The 1M executed the theme with greater success, I reckon.

Well, it sorta kinda is a race car. It's the M235i Racing designed for competition in series such as the VLN series in Germany.

Ah, I missed your post on the previous page. That makes more sense then.

Though if a proper M version of the road car arrives I do hope it's a little more subtle.

What an awful starting price, imo.

A brand new 435i starts at $46,000. Unless you just want the smaller car, I don't see any reason not to upgrade to the 4 Series.
That's the same issue with the new Macan. I was actually considering it until I found out that the Turbo model is priced marginally lower than the Cayenne GTS. Stupid.

-> Somehow I have a bit of distaste on the M235i Racing. Since I see it as a wannabe FXX, Sesto Elemento, 599XX, or any track-only specials that are not even street legal. :indiff:

-> At least, BMW could've turn it into a street-legal M235i CSL instead...

^ But this is only my opinion...

Unlike those other cars you mention, this is built for competition, rather than simply being a track-day diva. It's not so much 'track-only' as 'race-only'. Think of it as a GT4 class race car.

I like it... though not with the silly motorsport decals.

Don't worry, when they appear on track to race, they'll most likely not be wearing the livery from the press photo's, but their own sponsor decals ;)

Could be worse.. could have a paint-job like the Self-driving 2 series (look no hands) :D

Looks like a 1, or a 3, or even a 4.

Why doesn't BMW just stick with the regular numbering scheme they had going?

It allows for more differentiation and expansion, more vehicles = more numbers. I was all for it until they decided to call the new FWD 5 door hatch a two series in a cynical attempt to make it clear that it targetted the Merc B class, rather than the A Class.

On topic... Cabrio's... eeewww.
