Interesting thread.... one of the first cars I 'created' when I started GT5 was a M3 GTS replica... but with nowhere near as much attention to detail as this!

Couple of comments in the interst of making it as accurate as possible...

Exhaust...
The M3 GTS has a full Akrapovic titanium exhaust... apparently it's very loud!

Tyres...
I guess this is the on going debate of what GT5 tyres = in real life. But if lap times at the 'Ring are in the 7'10 braket the tyres are way too grippy. The cars runs 7'50ish in RL IIRC. Tyres on the actual car are Pirelli P-Zero Corsa's (similar to MPS Cups as fitted to the CSL and various GT 911's), so these are the lowest spec of track day suitable tyre you can buy. IMO, this should be sports hard.

Might have to revisit mine... I think I converted it back to standard at some stage, so maybe I'll have to buy another one :D

My lap was done on Sports Soft tyres, I should really re-do the lap on the Sports Hards but was not sure, until now, what compound tyre the GTS would have been running... :)
Cheers for the tip on tyre choice 👍
I will revisit this and post a new video once I have the correct tyres fitted! ;)

It's only my opinion :)

I know others view tyres like the non-cup MPS and non-corsa P-Zero's as sports hards... I see these as comfort softs as you get these tyres fitted to much more mundane stuff - my 08 Mondeo had MPS3's on it for a while (has Conti sport contact 3's now), and I'd not consider either of those as anything other than a high quality regular tyre (so comfort softs).

In regard to the M3 GTS, the road tests all comment on how well it will do the drift car thing and how well it will also do the nailed to the line thing... so the tyres shouldn't have too much grip that the car won't oversteer on the throttle.

It's only my opinion :)

While it may only be your opinion, it is an opinion formed with some 'real' basis! 👍 And I appreciate the input! Thank-you! ;)
All too often you get people with their opinions with no real basis from where they were formed... :boggled:
Additionally, as a Div1 Gold driver you would have a better understanding of these things (most likely) than 95% of people on the site! :D
No offense intended to anyone else... :nervous:

Xerxes. :)

D1G just means you can run a good lap in the AMG at the 'Ring... or get a lucky one like me :D

But I'll continue on my quest of encouraging people to not just stick the softest tyres possible on their cars... with less grip comes more enjoyment :)

Well, I did neither a good lap or a lucky one because I'm down in Bronze... ;)
Although, I'm competing in and around the Silvers... So I'm not unhappy about that! :D
Just not quite 'alien' material... (like Ramon and Zoky in particular)

...with less grip comes more enjoyment :)

+1 Amen to that! 👍

Just not quite 'alien' material... (like Ramon and Zoky in particular)

Therein lies the problem with being D1G... you have poeple like Ramon and Zoky who are proper aliens that you have to compete with

I never wanted to be D1G... was happy in D1S where you're not expected to be right at the top every time you compete! I'm not really D1G pace either... I only scraped in at the bottom of the division.

Yes, I can imagine your pain! :nervous:
For example, this weeks WRS... I am currently 3rd (behind Ramon & Zoky) but not just a little bit... MILES & MILES! :(
.6 from Ramon and .4 from Zoky... In just 2 sectors! And I'm the closest to them... (ATM anyway... ;))

Anyway, before we get too off topic... :sly:
By our powers combined (Stotty & myself) :D we deem that Sports Hard are most likely the correct compound tyre to run to be comparable to the RL M3 GTS, or if you prefer a challenge try Comfort Softs! 👍
I will run the Sports Hard first, see if I can run ~7:50 around the 'Ring and re-post a video, if not, I will do it with Comfort Softs and post the video! ;)
Pheww, saved the thread from getting off topic too far!

Xerxes. :)

Yeah, appologies for taking this off topic :D

You'll still do it easily I think... I'd guess that c.7'10 on softs would equate to c.7'30 on hards. I doubt you lose 40 odd seconds.

I'm not sure what to make of the tyres in GT5... the GTR official lap record can be beaten by almost 15s on sports hards.

Thanks for this!
I really like the replica.

A few of my findings:
1) I read somewhere that the M3 GTS was lowered 16mm front and 12mm back. I couldn't find the -8/-5 though.
2) It is possible to get both the weight and the weight disitribution right. You have to get the weight reduction stage 2, add 107kg ballast and position this at -27. This will get you closest to the 52.4/47.6 weight distribution of the GTS.
3) I worked on a way to get both the power and the torque to be as close as possible, but I used the wrong figure of 450bhp for the power... so I'll have to get back to that.
4) figures in GT5 will change when you break the car in, so if you really want to keep the figures as close to the original, you'll probably need to change some parts around after about 100km :D

edit: Just decided to keep my GTS a 450 bhp monster. Power might be 6 bhp (@8100RPM) over, but torque is .1kgfm under the official figures (@ a very late 4200rpm though).

edit 2: Apparently I couldn't let this go and gave it a try. My car has driven a bit over 123km and with the engine stage 1 upgrade, the sports intake manifold and the sports exhaust manifold its power is 455 bhp and torque is 44.7kgfm (which is .1 under the original GTS' torque). Using the power limiter you can decrease the power (at the cost of a very slightly clipped curve) and have an engine that produces 444bhp@8100rpm and 44.7kgfm@4200rpm

Just found this thread, great replica quite fun to drive. I made mine in Very Orange, a color from Tesla. Mine has 445 hp @ 8500 rpm and 444 Nm @ 4400 rpm, the real GTS has 443 hp @8300 rpm and 440 Nm @ 750 rpm.
I also looked up for the gear ratios ;)

Set Top Speed to 310 kmh (192 mph) then set:

1º:4.780
2º:3.058
3º:2.153
4º:1.678
5º:1.390
6º:1.110
Final: 3.154

The top speed of the real GTS is 305 kmh (189 mph)

I managed to get to 303 kmh on Le Sarthe. It takes some time to get there because the real one has a 7 speed gearbox but the M3 has a 6 speed gearbox.

I still have to test it at the Nürb.

Back from the dead!
I think for the the Focus ST's "Electric Orange" and/or LFA's "Orange" would match a little better. Monaco Orange just looks too much like the Fluorescent orange paint chips from the DLC paint pack.
