I've heard of the dreaded 5-3, I've done 4-3, and yeah they've mostly been "easy" - Only the quattro rally car caused a few restarts while i tried to grasp how nimble it was.

I agree with "learn-able" - I've already learnt quite a lot, I'm playing without the driving line which is a challenge for me in itself haha
The next step is getting a wheel, which I've always wanted to do (pricey)
You should play with the wheel. I am using G27 with custom rig based on simul8or's blueprint.

Its good learning. The driving line is crappy though and doesn't help (at least for me). To be honest, I switched off all aids possible. No ABS (not even 1), no TCS, no ASM and none of those "high tech" driving aids. Its more fun to drive without them, but of course the learning curve is steeper. Learning to brake without ABS makes the game more engaging and gives more control over the car's driving characteristics.

Have to say again.... the driving line is crap. Its good learning tool on one hand, but doesn't help to improve lap times. The ghost replays are really good though! Must say PD did this damn right in the game.

Yeah i'm looking at the logitech driving force gt which i'm sure will be a decent beginners wheel, just saving for it really.

The driving line only aids me in the fact that I don't know all the tracks, I know the famous tracks as they were on forza, but the last time I played GT was 4 on PS2, so I only vaguely remember some of the tracks that have been ported up (special stage, trial mountain, etc.)

And I've always played with driving assists off in any racing game, I prefer it, except in the higher powered cars where I can't touch the throttle

A new player of GT series here coming from Forza; thought I was pretty good!
Then I see that people are getting 2:10's when I can't even break 2:18 for gold haha!

Hate the track, not fond of the car, getting frustrated :banghead:

you came from forza to this mess. na, j/k. forza fun though more options and a more complete game.

Just be careful with the allen bolts on the pedal faces – I rounded one of mine during an early attempt to clean it out and it’s a complete pain to get out now.
There's a tool for unscrew it, it's a screwer with a tip like a fan with very sharp edges, anticlockwise direction, I rounded one some years ago when I was cleaning the pedals, it was indeed a pain to get it out until I found this tool.

Yes, I think it's called a torx driver - I have them, but mine is now completely rounded.

Last time I had to hammer a flat head screw driver in to the bolt (using a 3lb lump hammer) to get it out, but I don't think it will come out again

Not sure now, but last night when I looked at the top times, they all turned SRF on and were using TCS...

If you can use SRF it will be loads faster than without.

Shame it's an option, but if you want a decent ranking you'll be better off using it.

Meh, I'm not that fussed about ranking, but it would be nice to know what the fastest SRF-off times are. I'm pleased we can do it without Skid Recovery Force, maybe the next step is to be able to filter the rankings.

If I carry too much speed into a curve it understeers(moreso than others). Braking points were tougher to find than most cars into turn 1. Throttle control is a must with this one in the corners. I managed a measely 2:17.753 on a cold lap. I noticed SRF was optional. These were just a few observations. How much slip angle should I shoot for with this car on these tires at this PP?

Just took it for a spin and got Bronze. Great car, very happy with it. Will have to give this a proper go once I fix my sticky brake pedal. :grumpy: Its sticking just enough to slow me down. It only happens after I apply the brakes, showing about 1/4 brake pressure on the HUD display. If I tap the brakes, it releases the rest of the way. I think I may need to clean them inside or blow them out. Any suggestions on this. Thanks.

I wouldn't advise using WD40 on the pot. It will work in the short term but it leaves a sticky reside which will collect dust and make things worse in the long run. Use a proper contact cleaner like Servisol.

Alright guys, thanks for all your tips on how to take care of my sticky brake problem. I seem to have it fixed, for the time being anyway, by using a less intrusive method I found on Google. All I did for now was push the pedal down all the way and release it suddenly letting it spring back under its own force. Seems to work for now. Anyway, later on when I can pull myself away from the game, I'll take the advice of taking it apart and cleaning the pot with contact cleaner. Thanks again for all your help here guys, its really appreciated.

That sucks:ill:. I had that that problem a while ago to. Good luck fixing it:tup:.

The 50k prize sounds promising that they might start increasing the payouts in the future.
Take it apart and spray electrical contact cleaner inside the potentiometers, works a treat! (you don't have to take the potentiometers apart to do this)

Can believe it I have just golded the event & the screen has gone blank!!
I did too! And now it won't let me go into the event because it can't establish a connection to the server! Even though I'm signed into PSN! So annoying, so much for putting some laps in in my lunch break!

I can't believe how fast some of the times for this event are. Best I managed yesterday was 2:16.408. Although I did see a lot of the really fast times have some sort of aid on.

Edit: Got it down to just over 2:15. Still not great but better. Still bummed you don't get money for winning after the first time :(

Exactly the same here. Pretty shoddy really. I think I'll stick to off-line for a while till they get things sorted.

Oh man that sucked hard. Took me like 20 tries to gold it. It's a weird car to drive as it isn't predictable at all when it comes to oversteer. It's fine fine fine and then suddenly you're completely sideways if you're not delicate with the throttle. One of the harder cars in the game that's for sure.

It was really easy to drive. I use a ds3 controller and it wasn't hard at all. And for those doing goodwood, I suggest doing a time and then let your ghost help you get a faster time. I did them all gold with no problem except with redbull. I did that about 50 times before I got to 29 seconds :)

I got 2:17 on this one for gold. I looked at settings after and I see traction control and everything was on :(

Do I have to set this off for every car?? I'm going to try doing it with no assists like I normally do but having to turn this crap off all the time is super annoying.

Gold on the first try? Damn... I've been at it for ~20 minutes and had a hard time getting bronze... The car handles like crap...

Jup, most of the time you have to turn off the assists when using a new car ( standard settings I suppose )

You have to turn traction control off on every new car you get in.. don't know if they just think that is more realistic because most new cars come with it on, but it's annoying as hell.. but you get used to it.

The x1 was crazy on goodwood but it seemed if you just learned to take it easy (aka not flat out all the time) you'll gold it pretty easy. When I made it past the third corner (which always was the hard bit on goodwood for me) it only took two tries.

So, you have to buy a M4 to do this Seasonal, right? And if you complete it you get the same M4 again as a gift?
Am I missing something, because this doesn't seem to make much sense.

You don't have to buy it, they lend you one.

I just couldn't believe how fast the top times are, after taking an hour to drive a 1:14.052 with the car that was provided.
Then I come on here and learn that you can tune the damn thing..

It really is a good car, you just have to learn to slowly increase throttle out of corners.

It is beyond me how people are getting Around 2.10 on their first attempt... My first completed lap got me 0.300 short of silver with DS3...
