Are you people doing this challenge with Skid Recovery on?
By the way, my set-up is much softer. I find that the default one is way too stiff.
This is with Skid Recovery off and ABS 1:

I managed a fifth (after a 9th) with default settings and hp maxed and abs 1.

Now I will try the settings offered up and see 👍.

It was a fun 2 laps regardless! Key for me is to use brakes more rather than downshifts to slow down for corners.

What is all the talk about not getting an oil change on the Nascar? Is there something wrong with that?

There use to be HP restrictions on the Seasonal Event. Where if you changed the oil, your HP was too high and you couldn't enter the race. But they've done away with the restrictions on all the Season Events it appears, for whatever reason. I assume it was due to people complaining about the difficulty.

Very easy - use the finn's tune for Car of Tomorrow, and be amazed. Seriously, the Nascar is now my favorite 'ring' car to use now. 6:20 or sub are done with ease, more than enough to destroyolate the AI at this race.

As always, be careful of the right foot, and brake accordingly, but this brings that into focus with this car.

OK, what's the secret???:dunce:

I'm at level 25, I've golded the other week 2 and 3 seasonal events.

I know the Nurburgring - I won first time on it in the Lupo race, won the first German event, passed the first three levels of AMG challenge at bronze.

I know stock cars as well - I've golded Daytona, Indy and High Speed Loop, although I've had problems with traction on the other two NASCAR courses.

But despite hours at it I can't get anywhere in this one...

I've tried the various setups suggested here, and the softer one seems the best so far. The best lap I've been able to get was c. 7:03, which was with traction control set to ***7***. If I switch TCS to 1 or off as suggested, my best drops to c. 7:43. I've only once managed to even pass a car!

I just find the NASCAR/'Ring combination totally unforgiving - probably because of the stock car's weight and momentum. So far it seems to me to have come from the same mentality as the VW Samba/Top Gear Test Track event - a joke.

Yet I see one poster after another saying how easy it is.

WTF am I missing?????:ouch:

PS: I'm using the DS3 controller.

Use your brakes and take your time on the throttle coming out of corners.Nascar is not as easy as most people think on a road course. On most road courses they hire specialists like Ron Fellows to race Watkins Glenn and Circuit Gilles Villanueve. Big heavy cars with lots of get up and go and they are not to forgiving. The setup is fine might want to get a wheel my friend.:sly:

I won this race with the max downforce setup. Pretty handily too. Won with a 6 minute 41 second lap time for 2nd lap and about 6 minute 59 seconds in first lap.

Won my 8 seconds or so I believe.

Something I always do but did especially with the NASCAR is trust the feel of the tires and not the gear changing thing that tells you what gear the next turn will be. Usually way off. Can also do alot of late braking into the turns to gain a little on the competition. I was usually 20-40mph faster then what the game would tell me to take the turn at.

All assists off of course.

I used a ps3 controller too, and golded it with relative ease(dont forget the racong soft tires!). Just use the tune on the first page and keep tcs at 5 and abs up to 3. The honest key is just track knowledge and throttle control, you don't need to push super hard in this event.

Practice, practice, practice!

Thanks for all the setup help guys. I got it by 5 seconds with a 6:49 and 6:41 on my DS3. Also, are wheels really that much better? I guess I always figured the reason I couldn't turn some of the amazing times was just that I'm not good enough. Crazy I know :sly:

Let me start with, I hate Nascar. Truly and really, hate Nascar events in GT.

But since I had to, I took on this track, and the first times it was a night mare with driving the car in stock shape, just couldn't keep up, then I started to test with some other set-ups, and now, finally after maybe 6 try's, I won, and this is what I used:

Maxed Aero's
-1 -1 Ride Height
12.0 / 13.5 suspension
2.0 / 1.0 camber
Dampers (Both) 7 / 7
Anti Roll: 5 / 5
Transmission: 300
LSD: +10 on the Acc

This made it possible for me to win with a time of 6,44...

Finally I can be done with this and get rid of the Nascar's!

chees fella!

this setup let me get 6:32 & 6:33 (with spins :dopey:) and do the challenge simples.
