Bram Turismo's Gallery - Tournament Round 1 before/after -

Pretty sweet, man.

Almost cartoonish style, VERY clean. And those bright spots are looking great too, just perhaps a tad bright. Or maybe not, I'd have to see the pic with them darker to really know for sure.

Also the tarmac's looking very nice like that. It seems that it suffered a whole different treatment than the tunnel upper part, it looks more blurred and with higher contrast to really show the texture sweeping from beneath the car. Is that what you did?

I love it, great update. 👍

A very smooth and clean shot.
I love the realistic look of the carbon fiber on the vipers front splitter!
👍

Thanks guys 👍

Beerzgood; First of all, lovely username, second:

I did not do anything different between the tarmac and the rest of the background. What I did was before I blurred anything, I selected the road and applied a lens blur to it so that the road itself is clean and free of all those low-quality blotgy spots. After that, I applied alot of noise, but ALOT. And then I enlarge the canvas and blur the background 👍

Thanks Tommi but I'm actually not statisfied with the CF below there. I hoped the quality would be better but I don't bother to clean up all those spots, that would take hours!

Glad you like the username.

Thanks for the explanation/tip too.

Only thing is I'm using PS 6.0 and it doesn't have a lens blur. Is there any other blur type that resembles lens blur?
I have the CS2, but can't install it due to not being supported by my current OS. It's an old PC (takes about 10-12mins to render a zoom blur at full size...)

Too bad you can't use the lens blur filter, for me, it is my favorit tool in Photoshop. The closest what would come to the result of a lens blur would be to apply a smart blur first, followed by a surface blur, if you have these tools at least.

I sometimes use the lens bur, smart blur and surface blur all in one on someareas, like the real dark areas which do not seem to be clean too well with a lens blur. The smart blur tool is really effective on plain, with the same colour, areas. Like for example the door of a car, if there is nearly no reflection on it and the colour is nearly the same everywhere, you can apply one onto that part. It really gives a clean result to it but if there are alot of reflection and colour differences on that part, I do not recommend to use smart blur ;)

Ever thought about PS 7.0? As far as I remember, it has mostly the same tools as CS2, CS2 is really heavy for your PC compared to 7.0. Alot of people still use 7.0 👍

Thanks for the advice about the 7.0 , I'll see what I can do.

and you're right about the smart blur, I find it impossible (to my knowledge) to clean those areas where you have various tones of pinks, greens and whatnot packed in stains, only by using the smart blur.

What I really have to do is get myself a new PC.

Btw, I see you entered this shot on the 'EVIL' comp. It would be more menacing if the shot angle was even lower, maybe. Just my thought, I love the pic anyway.

The Viper looks pretty good Ultra. I see you used the shadow tip I gave out. Nice job on that.👍 The blur looks pretty good too, except it looks like the background is on like a peice of paper or something that is flat, and the car is protruding out of it. The background doesn't have much depth is what I think I am trying to say. Not all of lines in the bachground vanish to your vanishing point you have chosen. And I think the sort of shadow or dark ring around the car is what is causing the flat background look. Im not sure how you acheived the dark ring around it. Maybe your selections were not quite exact. Tunnel blurs are tough. You really have to be nitpicky in getting the vanishing points in the right spots for each individual section. I know, I have tried a couple times. Franz has done the best one I've seen with his Orange/Red Zonda that kicked my butt in the first 2.0 Tournament in the final round. But it's an overall nice looking shot. The colors are nice and the cleanup is pretty well done. The light glares look good too. Like you say in your podcasts, practice... practice... practice!👍

Looking good Ultrashot, but not realistic. It's very clean though, great job on that. Keep this up, and continue with the podcasts. 👍

wow man, supra shot is awesome, and this one is very good as well, although i would have to agree with sej, its not that realistic. But it is really really clean. You are def. getting better at "440 Charger" style.

Oh, by the way, i love to see your progress through photoshop and i get excited when i log into these forums and see you posted a new shot. So, you arent posting too often.

I continues to love those little reflection spots
the car itself is really well done ... good work!
I guess you are a bit inspired from these shots :) (from jacoja and 440)

as I mention from the comp thread, I recommend darker and higher contrast background
here is one similar example done by a talented guy in DA

by the way I like your user title

Impressive work Bram. You're now decided to kick my ass and some more. The car i very menacing and eye candy with so effects added.

They make it quite unreallistic, but awesome. The overal tone and "white neon lighting" doesn't match, the hood line is exagerated, excessive noise in the tarmac and other things wich can be fixed nest time with more practising. It's very easy to fail when adjusting values in PS, specially the first times applying a new technique.

Your latest improvement makes me stay scary at the moment...

This is the first time I see the R34. This is the first time I see so FRESH color. 440 is like... woa :odd:

Emre Husmen is my nightmare since years when he was a "bad" drawer and now is one of the most skilled and popular. I can cry now. Emmm, lol.

Hey thanks alot for the comments guys 👍

Finding a good vanishing point was hard in this shot, because I took it near the end of the tunnel and through the window of the screen, I could see the little hill which is near the begin of the tunnel. So it was quite hard, everything matched up but not the right side of the tunnel (left from car view). But I'm statisfied with the colors actually, the road is too light in comparison with the tunnel but I know I need more practice on colors and stuff. So far, I'm happy with how I clean up, I just need to spend more time on the smallest details like headlights and foglights. They are so difficult

On that shot of 440; He amazes me everytime how he creates those colors in his shots while not creating new noise or anything...

Thats one mean looking Viper!!! Full of quality, great blur and colors. What a shot!!! :)

WHOA!!!! The viper shot looks EXTREMELY realistic! The shot is excellent!!! The car looks like its going to drive RIGHT out of the shot! Suaveeeeee 👍

Dodge Viper GTSR Concept @ Trial Mountain
February 22th, 2007

My apologies if some feel I'm updating too much, please say so but after I was done with this Viper, I really wanted to have it in my gallery. Originally, this shot was and still is for the Photoshop 2.0 Competition Week 60 but it turned out so nice I decided to post it here as well. I tried not to put the saturation so high like the last Viper at NY were it turned pink. I hope you like this update as much as I do. I hope franz finally is statisfied with the tarmac  What I did not get clean were the headlights, foglights and the lines around the front window but apart from these three, I like this one very much. Please post what you think about this shot 👍 Now I'll need to focus on the Tournaments, I really want to get as high up there and place my name as possible 👍 Too bad Moglet's already out of there :D

Thats a sweet pic man.

I wish I can do that with my red Viper but its too damn fast to capture it like that lol.

Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R @ Trial Mountain

February 25th, 2007

Nothing too special, people were speaking of the R32 being badly textured so I figured out I might give it a try. It turned out OK I guess, the headlights could be cleaned up better but I hate cleaning up headlights so I didn't bother. And I'm still using those little lights, I like them and I going to continue using them :) Tell me what you think about it 👍

Actually that R32 is pretty clean. Loving the blurs thought. 👍

Thats one "agressive" good looking shot!!! Amazing blur, and great choice of camera. What more can I say to a pro like U?! Just bring more:tup:

[sarcasm]Yeah, the GT4 PD camera is definitely a best buy for this type of shot! 👍 [sarcasm]

Nah just joking, NTX I know you meant camera angle.

Back on topic I like it but it looks a bit outbalanced without a proper shadow under the car, just make it darker I would say. Also the little dodge white spots are nice, but I think it's too many over the car. Nonetheless a great pic with again great cleanup and the blur is this time better too. 👍

I think I'm the one responsible for the "badly textured" speech so I decided to pop in here... that shot is great, but it doesn't take away the fact that the taillights and the doorlines are Monday examples of good textures. Check my Race Report "The Legend Rises Again" for some more R32 shots, unedited. 👍

Actually, it looks great...A good example of crappy door lines is the Saleen S7...

Anyway, thanks for all the comments so far 👍 I may have overdone those lights as I can't stop when I start with those

I've been busy as hell, I'm at work and school from 8 in the morning to 9 at night :(

Anyways, enough about me, about the shot:

OH WOW!!!! Are those dead bugs on the car?!?! (If not, well too bad it is now :D)
AWESOME!!!!!
Great shot man! The blurring is fantastic!
SUAVE!!!!

Great angle, blur and cleaning. You're being exagerating some details but the overal look is awesome! Probably you have to take care with levels, tone and spot lights wich became into a chaos this time. Anyway I hope to see more of that 440 style inspiration 👍

Good shot overall. Cleanup is A+ as usual. The little lights are a bit exaggerated on this one but not too bad. Don't be afraid to mix your shots up a bit.
