Why do you drive the car you do?

This is something I wrestle with greatly, being a Porsche guy through and through.

In Gr.3 it isn’t an issue as the 911 is a strong car, however in Gr.4 the car I would chose (Cayman) just cannot keep up on the straights so I use the BMW M4!

What is everyone’s thoughts on this, do you drive the car you do because of it’s rating, or because it is your favourite?

I like this. Thought this was the point of GTS. Yes, try all the cars, but also figure which brand you wanted to represent. It's the same on the street. Scooby owners vs Evo owners. Ford vs Chevy. Stuttgart vs everything else.

I guess it could be like real racers. Some have been driving one brand for their career, but may be in other brands for different racing events. Example, Chaz Mostert. He races a Ford, but he's in factory BMWs and has also raced BMW(335i) and Ford(RS) production racing cars.

As long as the difference in performance is marginal, I drive the car I enjoy most, but I won't handicap myself just to prove a point.

Agree 100% with this, bit for me the Cayman is too slow on the straights and I am not quick enough in the corners to mitigate this!

If I could race my favorite brand, I would. I wouldn't care if the Lancer (both Gr. 3 and 4) are at most half a second off the pace, because I'm willing to sacrifice that much. But 2 seconds off the pace is just unjustifiable. Whst frustrates me more is that the WRX Gr.3 is one of the stronger cars in its class out there.
What gives PD?!

Honestly i think alot of this has more to do with the gearing of the cars.
The cayman is geared far too long so you dont get to use the power band enough, whereas the m4 you can get it half way to redline in 7th on some straights or take hairpins in 3rd as opposed to downshifting and it still pulls hard.
We should be able to tune our cars.

Yep I couldn't vote either,
I drive GR3 991 because I love its looks on loading screen etc, thankfully its strong.
I cant keep up with my GR4 viper which is soooo weak, so I've started to use the M4 so I can keep up.

Ferrari driver here. Loyal since day 1. I prefer MR Cars. I perform quite decent in Gr3, but Gr4 is not competitive on tracks with long straights, at least not me.

I wish PD would acknowledge BOP isn't perfect and add a 'car handicap multiplier' to the scoring system, then there would be a varied range of cars on track.

I feel any car win the race, it comes down to the driver. Gr3 is fairly balanced and i dont think gr4 is that far off either. So i run my favorite always.

not in SS/really good AS races no... everyone drives really good and mostly without any mistakes so there is no possibility to win with a slow car. For example Huracan GT3 is absolutely terrible against other GT3 cars. It slides in every single corner.

I mostly use Z4 GT3 when i join sport races since launch because it's one of my favourite GT3 cars in terms of sound/looks but it's quite quick in game too.

I voted first but I usually find a "fine line" between it, because I never have a "only one absolute favourite car" so I pick a car I like, that has the most fitting handling for me and that I feel like driving.

I stick with the big mercs... all about that low down bi turbo power if you can learn to handle that you can overtake the 911 GT3 in all its strong sectors. All about that power keeping it in 3rd when you should be in 2nd push push push and creative braking

I always drive the cars I love. I dont care whats the fastest. if the one i love is the fastest neat, but it wont change anything for me.
ex: I like the 650S GT3, Aston Martin Vulcan, Honda NSX, Lambo Countach, Aston Martin V8 and V12, Mclaren VGT.

I’m all about that loyalty, having used only the Viper for both Grp. 3 and 4 since maybe 3 weeks after release. I initially chose it for its stability in both classes, but it has gone on to bring me multiple podiums and quite a few wins so it’s also a very capable car which is often overlooked.

you should try the Mclaren 650S GT3, stability with that car is very nice.

If the name of game is competition, you just limit yourself by wanting to stay loyal to a brand.

For me though, I drive what I like if the stakes aren't high, if I'm racing on a FIA tournament race, I drive the car I drive the fastest that is available in the class, I don't have to prove a point in that case, I just have to win fair and square.

It's a responsibility of the devs to balance in all car classes and provide fair game play to everyone, but ultimately it is up to us to drive what we drive the fastest.

But if it's one of the daily races or lobby? I drive what I'm pleased with.
