G'day folks, I was thinking it would be pretty neat to organise a GTP meet at the Brisbane Motor Show in 2010, which runs from the 3-7th February. Going on the 6th February (a Saturday) is what I'll probably be intending to do. Register your interest here, we'll get into more details as the show approaches.👍

I don't plan for next week, let alone nearly 6 months down the road. :sly:

But sounds like a plan I could be interested in getting into....plus it gives me an excuse to visit relos. :D

I thought you lived in Sydney? Bit of a trip for you.:sly: I figured I'd post it now, rather than just a couple weeks before the show when nobody can make such plans in time.

Another Sydney-sider, wouldn't it take a good 3-4hrs for you to get up here? Would be good to have you all come though.:) I was really disappointed the 2009 show was cancelled, so I'm definitely making time for this one.

Me too with Sydney's - ah well - now WE host the international shot. Up yours Melbourne.

How big is the Brisvegas show?

Wow, can't believe guys from syd might come up. Like i've told you already, I may be able to come, I'll have to wait until the event approaches. I'm definitely interested though.

The bris show next year should be fairly big to make up for this years loss.

How big is the Brisvegas show?

Probably nowhere near as big as the Australian Motor Show, but it's what we have and still presents a massive range of cars.

Yeah I'd be up for it, sounds like a great time. 👍 It's still a while away, so I'll see how things are going closer to that date but I'm definitely interested.

The last show I went to had at least 300 new cars and bikes. The venue is well placed, on the southside of the river, across from the city. This would be a show that incorporates 90% of the new cars available, in the coming year, I would assume.
Sure, Brisvegas is not of the international interpretation of Sydney or Melbourne, but I'm sure you all, will enjoy looking at the cars and inovations just the same.:D

I will make a concerted effort to attend, but with a time frame of 6 months to wait, anything can happen.

The only hard part would be finding and meeting people in a very crowded place whom you've never seen before.

A general meet up point outside and a few phone numbers would be good.

Dont give out numbers now just incase you have a fallout with a friend from here and he decides to post it everywhere.

I wouldn't give out any details at all, other than what I'll look like. Things like what I'll be wearing, how tall I am, and of course an agreed group meeting point.

How about badges?

Big signs on our foreheads saying GTP Meet.

Perhaps someone could just sit at one of the entrances with a laptop browsing GTP.:P I'm sure we'll figure it out. Maybe before we go inside the actual show (there is a massive corridor of sorts just outside the actual show area inside) we actually should write our GTP names on our arms in pen or put on a name tag, just to give each other visual confirmation and avoid that awkward moment of walking up to a complete stranger and asking if they are who we think they are.:scared:

A secret handshake.

Strangers will think you're bonkers when you offer them your arm from under your legs. :P

 Yes, that (or a secret salute) would garner some very strange looks and possibly security too!

My secret salute would gather lots of :irked: looks from you guys.

It goes like this: ,,l,, :P ,,l,,

:D

*don't give me infraction points mods, I'm playing with the birds!* :sly:

But seriously.....Paulie, I'm in QLD too now. ;) So easier for me to get there. And secondly, I'd say selecting a good/popular booth and a time to meet will fix things right up. 👍

I think it'd be easier to meet up at an entry door before going in. This should be a great day out.:)

We're within 2 months now, it starts on February 3rd, time to start planning yet? Would a Saturday or Sunday be better suited to everyone if it was open all weekend?

I'll be heading down on the Saturday only. There are no conflicts with school or other commitments so I guess I'll see you guys down there! Just have to organise the meet up place I suppose.

Well if someone can point me to where I could have a LDP shirt made, locally, not online, then everyone would just have to look for the guy in the Lion's Den Performance shirt.

Edit: I recommend pre-purchasing your tickets (should be possible) to ensure smooth operation on the day.

I am so far unable to find a ploor plan to indicate where we should meet.:banghead:

Things will be tight for me around that time. I'm already going to be in Brissy the weekend before for some poker finals but if I can hang around there for that week, then sure, I'm down for whatever. 👍

I'll see if I can find someone to do your shirts Paulie, I know a guy that knows a guy that maybe able to help. and ticket pre-purchase is awlays on option although probably not a major issue as things usually flow pretty smoothly at the entry to BMS.

Theres only two entries to the main hall at the Convention Centre from memory so it shouldn't be do hard to sort out a meet point, I'll bring a sandwich board with GTP/TT-R Meet plastered all over it and place it right out the front ...I suppose with some of the young fellas being under 18 meeting up at the pub on the corner accross the street is out of the question hey?:sly:

And i'd be happy to give out my Mobile# to whoever was attending just to make things run smoother, I'm fine with that. But if anyone starts ring me in the middle of the night, why I tell you.......:grumpy:

Look forward to meeting everyone.

Cheers ,Craig.
