They're both quite pathetic.

Read less of The New Statesman and more Private Eye and you'll see what I mean.

Do you have a strong Conservative bias by any chance? All you ever do is try and say the Conservatives are great and Labour are immoral idiots.

Nope, but I do have a strong bias towards anyone who is trying to fix our current situation *cough* Not Labour *cough*. As for your second point, i'm not that cruel. Labour do a great job of looking like idiots all on their own.

Saying that our current government is failing is slightly misleading - the damage was done by our previous government - otherwise we'd be sitting comparitively comfortably right now.

Anybody expecting everything to be fixed, running smoothly and a fast recovery from trillions of pounds of debt in such a short period of time are, put simply, delusional (or a Daily Mail reader - same thing?).

Regardless of whose at fault, how can a party not in power fix (or attempt to) a current situation?

(from someone with no leanings to any party)

So, I was texting while driving then killed someone in an unrelated accident on Christmas Day 2007. I was sentenced to 12 weeks, of which I served 16 days. And it's all the Jews' fault.

What a monumental dicktard.

He's just a politician doing what politicians do: saying whatever his current audience wants to hear.

Having said that, though, I do agree with your assessment.

Uh, anti-Semitism isn't the sort of thing that goes down well in the UK. Certainly not in the all encompassing, social utopia of the Labour party.

It's more like this crony of Tony holds a particularly bad opinion and has accidentally on purpose gone public with it. Whoops.

Right. That's why he said it in Pakistan, a place where anti-Semitism does go down well.

It's hard to imagine that guys like this can get to the upper echelons of political power in a western style democracy and keep this kind of attitude or belief hidden. My guess is that others know about it but turn a blind eye out of fear of retribution or loss of political favour or employment.

You'd be surprised what sort of people buy their way into the unelected, cronyistic upper house of the British parliament.

Conrad Black and Jeffrey Archer spring to mind.

It would be interesting to see what would become of Scotland and the UK if it were to become independent.
That said, I'm not really sure where I stand, as I live in Scotland but currently studying (and will be for the next 3 years) in England.
Hmm..

Boris Berezovsky has been found dead in his home in Ascot, Berkshire. Thames Valley Police have declared his death "unexplained", and have sent specialists in chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear emergencies to the scene as a "precaution".

Has anyone watched someone on the Andrew Marr show (can't remember his name) giving Boris Johnson a bollicking this morning?

With just my own income I was "emergent service workers" but with my house mates' combined income I became "established middle class".
