Court proceedings also granted 2 more sites to be blocked in the UK, on is EZTV.it which i used to watch American TV programs either coming years after in uk or not coming to uk at all. Seems a shame as it wasn't hurting anyone, pay my TV licences but may want to watch US tv shows too.
Thank god for proxy sites :)

I'm pretty sure that my phone contract with Orange came with filters already activated. It wouldn't allow access to certain sites, even those which were not even slightly pornographic. Luckily the settings were easy to change online rather than having to call a help desk.

On the subject of children viewing pornography, I guess they'll have to go back to the old days of looking through the underwear section of catalogues like Littlewoods. Or they could watch a hip-hop/funky house music video on YouTube and get borderline nudity on there.

This reminds me, how successful will the filter be?

For example, I'm unable to view a certain pub's restaurant menu on my mobile phone, I suspect because it contains the word "breast" to many times.

Yeah... the internet as we know it will no longer exist... it was good

If you're in the UK and use Bing to search for images of child abuse, you now get a popup warning that images of child abuse are illegal and are given details of a counselling service.

No, really.

I guess that means paedophiles are just reduced to Googling it now that Bing have cottoned on that it's illegal.

That'll make my publicity poster difficult.

I really don't think a blockhead like Cameron who is always on holiday and has no idea how to run a country should have a say in blocking online porn...

So now in the UK if you type www.somepornsite.com you cant enter to the website? Or just get a warning message?? Or nothing happens??
Nothing's been implemented yet. Generally it has to get further than a half-baked idea unsuited to combat a problem in the head of the Prime Minister - making into law, for example - before anything happens.

But if it does make it into law somehow and you do not opt out of the filter, then you're likely to get an ISP-specific "page blocked" message.

I wonder if the Daily Fail intended the porn ban to extend to forums. :odd:

So, help me understand, how far has this idea actually come? Is it just Cameron spouting ideas or is it actually a bill in the house of commons?
