Looks like a sports logo! Does every logo over there look like the all blacks logo?

Anywho, back to George. They could have picked a slightly more interesting yet royally acceptable name. Louis would have been better as the first name IMO.

If it was a girl all of this would be more interesting I guess (because of the significance etc), the only problem would be the never ending comparisons of everything she does to what Diana did which would have driven people bonkers!

Well, The Silver fern symbol & the (unofficial) flag is widely representative of New Zealand & New Zealanders and is a powerful & emotional symbol of inspiration at times when it matters. That's why you see them in every sports teams or any 'kiwiana' themes over here in NZ. ;)

Regnal names are only numbered after someone else uses it. Hence Stephen, John, Matilda, Anne and Victoria and not Stephen I, John I et al.

So Bubba would be just Bubba until Bubba II.

Also, I highly doubt we'll have a James VIII* because of the Catholic connotations.

And Louis because of France.

*Hypothetical James III of England, but James VIII of Scotland. After the ERII outcry, protocol is now to use whichever regnal number, Scotland or England, is higher.

And, for the same reason, Pope Francis and The Great War.
Boy George VIII?
He'd be Queen.

George VIII.

For really quite spectacular reasons.

Why George VIII and not George VII?
Why spectacular?

I would think it unlikely that Prince Charles would assume another of his names in the event he should become king.

The various Georges have played significant roles in the evolution of the modern UK, so the name resounds with distinctiveness and symbolism especially combined with Alexander. But wherein lies the spectacle?

Prince Charles wants to be known as King George VII because "King Charles is associated with beheading" (and dogs) and to honour his universally-liked grandfather, King George VI.

Who was, of course, called Albert.
